They provide great service to customers, believe that, but if you want to work at McKown, be cautious of a heightened political business environment, and a lot of gossip and backstabbing from my honest observations. I come from a family of General Contractors and business owners, and this seemed very shady to me. I was blindsided. It feels hypocritical and two-faced, but business is business. I shook hands and walked away without disgruntlement, but if you hold me accountable for that reason, then please don't make me the only man with the finger pointed in his face when there are greater offenses being committed. That is all I'm saying really. Great company, just somewhat dysfunctional, and way too political and fickle. Also, they are not BBB accredited and I cannot find a contractors license anywhere online.

I wrote him a check for 20k he started work in february (yes its december now) he abandoned the job after he ordered the wrong color, style and features for my cabinets and I refused them. He stopped responding to me and I had to hire another contractor to finish the job (he had done very little work and some of it had to be redone because he didn't get a permit for the electrical work). He is obviously using the money paid from a new client to do work on an existing client as he broke the contract by telling me to pay for the appliances instead of him buying what I wanted and I had given him a list of what I wanted. He also then asked me for more money when the amount of work done did not come close to what I had already paid him and I refused. I had to take him to court to get my money back to pay for the second contractor. AND I WON!!! He is dishonest, lazy and I wouldn't hire him to clean my catbox much less any work for my home. DO NOT HIRE HIM. He is a class C contractor which means his jobs should be no more than $7,500.00. Make sure if you are doing a lot of work, that your contractor has a class B or even better a class A contractors license. But avoid Darryl Perry and Home Pro masters at all costs! read more

They tiled our kitchen, put up a backsplash, completely renovated 2 bathrooms and built a laundry room out of an unfinished room- and made sure the job and all details were in character with the rest of the house. Hired Home & Land Repairs (Nick) through Yelp for two jobs: repairing holes in the soffit and repairing/replacing the solar panel wiring that squirrels had chewed through, plus installing a critter guard to prevent it from happening again. The agreed total was $850 including parts and labor. He repaired the soffit holes. Throughout the job he repeatedly asked for advance payments, which I reluctantly provided. About two weeks in he requested an additional $800, saying the job was more difficult and the new wiring was expensive. I paid for the wiring myself out of pocket and we agreed to add $500 to the original price. The next day he asked for another $400 advance. At that point I had paid $1,000 up front. He arrived one day several weeks ago to work on the wiring. After a couple of hours he said he was taking a three-hour break and never returned. Later that night he texted that he would be back early the next morning to continue. He did not show up. That was 11 days ago and he has ignored all my attempts to reach him since. This was not the first disappearance. Earlier in the job he left for about a week without explanation. We discussed the need for better communication and he agreed, but the same pattern continued. He has also left my extension ladder propped against the house for several weeks (I had allowed him to use it), a strap still dangling from the roof, and a table set up in the front yard. The solar wiring work remains unfinished and the property has been left in this condition. I expected the work to be completed as agreed and for basic communication about schedule changes. Neither happened. I will also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

ODC also included a "Roof Tune-Up" where the entire roof was inspected, replaced pipe donuts, clean-up of roof vents and pipes (sanded and painted), nail pop-ups repaired, repairs to flashing, and replaced missing or damaged shingles. Upon completion, I was provided with before and after pictures. The owner, Terry, came out to my property to complete the initial inspection and estimate. And he returned upon completion to inspect all work. ODC worked with my timeline and was respectful of my property. Thank you ODC for a job well done.
