So now they've cost me be about $150K. The underwriter is completely clueless. I went through sourcing hoops. I was asked for a bunch of things that no other bank would have requested. I was asked to lie and say that a gift for my mother's memorial was a gift towards my loan... then two days before closing they have another issue. They've had all of my information from day one. So what was the pre-approval for? Wasn't I in underwriting? Essentially they will keep you jumping through hoops until your under duress and are about to lose your purchase if you don't do the crazy, illegal things they want. Steer very clear.
