However, I do wish that they were more transparent with their donation pick up/delivery service. After several back-and-forth emails and phone calls, I was told the reason my items were rejected is that they "didn't have room," which I believe was a lie - but that's neither here nor there. Mr. Griffin was very understanding that I wanted to protect my things. I just did not realize that this request would double my move total time for a 1 bdrm, even with dual elevators in my bldg. As a result, I had to arrange additional help, and the move significantly exceeded my two-hour move-out time slot. This delay forced us to find alternative ways to access my apartment and transport my belongings. Despite arriving at 10:00 AM, the movers did not begin disassembling my bed until 1:45 PM. Additionally, the owner chose to send a truck that was far too small for my move, even though I had reviewed the full inventory of my apartment with him twice in advance. I ultimately had to use my own heavy-duty wagon to assist with moving items downstairs in an effort to keep the process moving. There was also a clear lack of care in handling my belongings. Items such as a glass mirror and a fabric headboard were not properly wrapped, and I had to personally intervene to ensure they were protected. Due to limited space in the truck, I was forced to transport some items in my own vehicle. We did not arrive at the new apartment until nearly 4:00 PM. At that point, the owner complained to me about "working for free," which was highly inappropriate given that I was paying for the service. I then had to address multiple false statements and contradictions regarding the charges. The owner initially attempted to charge just under $1200 for the move and presented a "discounted" rate of $980, which I did not accept. I ultimately paid just over $800 for a two bedroom apartment and 5 mile move that took nine hours, which I still feel was excessive considering the poor service and damages incurred. My furniture was improperly assembled, scratched, and dirty, and items were crammed into an undersized truck. In one instance, screws were driven into the back of my dresser, causing visible damage and holes. Hardware was not properly secured or labeled; instead, screws were kept loosely in the movers' pockets rather than being bagged and attached to the corresponding furniture. I have included photos from the move. Notably, the truck provided--described by the owner as being in good condition--had a hole covered with duct tape and a cracked windshield. Overall, this company is poorly managed and highly unprofessional. I strongly recommend against using their services. If possible, I would have rated this experience zero stars. I failed to mention that he made disparaging commas about his own staff, specifically their inability to load the truck properly and how 1 like to do more of one thing than the other. He said one person with a lawyer and one person with a simpler which was causing the slowdown. He claims to train all of his staff, but at negative things to say about them. After nine hours, he neglected to even offer them any food or beverages. Not to mention this was only a two bedroom apartment move.
