Anyway, HERO for Children is an organization that seeks to improve the quality of life for children living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. They do this by teaching life skills development, providing emotional and mental support through mentoring relationships, and just making sure that the children have access to a wide range of life experiences. It's great! I have been mentoring with them for less than a year but, I can already tell that this is going to be a long term commitment. If you are looking for a way to get involved, I would highly recommend HERO for Children.

Not only does the woman on the phone seem annoyed with your call, but she's also the manager and always acts as if it's not her decision to take items or not. I guess I'm not too disappointed because the antique furniture I wanted to donate FOR FREE, I ended up selling for a pretty penny. However, I do wish that they were more transparent with their donation pick up/delivery service. After several back-and-forth emails and phone calls, I was told the reason my items were rejected is that they "didn't have room," which I believe was a lie - but that's neither here nor there. I wouldn't try reaching out to them in the future.

Working over 150,000 volunteer hours each year, JLA members partner with community organizations from Open Hand to the Atlanta Community Food Bank, the Atlanta Speech School to Chastain Riding Park, to make an impact on the lives of people in our city. Through raising funds at the Nearly New Shop and events such as the annual Tour of Kitchens and Sham Rock n Roll race, the JLA supports community organizations that help thousands of Atlantans of all ages. Members contribute 50 hours each, annually, in a community placement or working "internally" to support the continued viability of the League. As someone who has experienced the million & 1 ways people want to help you, but just don't know how to relate I can tell you this organization can be life changing. Your child can have a place where those in their age group are relating and equally figuring out what's next for them. Grief is something that can go away and reappear over time. The kids are all school aged 5-17, essentially some have been going for years and some have lost someone as recent as the month they enroll. It's one of a kind and holds a place in many hearts in the community.

They do homework, play games, talk, and engage in activities the B&G Club have arranged. My daughter plans to mentor this girl as long as she can. We first started this so that she would have volunteer work on her college applications, but now she's sticking with it because she enjoys it. I encourage anyone with any kind of free time to volunteer or at least give to the many causes out there. (ESPECIALLY TO HELP SPAY AND NEUTER DOGS AND CATS!! -- and care for those lost ones who have no place to call home....) - 2 facilites in the midlands are Pets Inc (petsinc.org) and Animal Mission (animalmission.org) GIVE PLEASE!!!
