By the second lesson, he was already treading water for a full minute. What I truly appreciate is Ms. Sandra's honesty--she never pushes for additional lessons unless she believes they're necessary. She's also incredibly accommodating with our schedule, which we really appreciate as parents. It's been such a blessing to have Ms. Sandra as my son's swim teacher. I've already told her we'll be back in two years when my daughter is old enough to start lessons too! Highly recommend!

What a testament it is to this school that it is going to be one of the top 5 things we will miss…read moremost about moving away from Rialto. And that we are so sad that we won't be able to send our youngest son here like we did with his older brother and sister. My children love this preschool and day care. They are happy to go and my oldest son was so sad when his time here ended. There is so much kindness from all the staff from the very beginning when they walked us through the enrollment and waitlist to the end where we are sad to go, and all the in between. It is worth every penny to know your children are well taken care of when they are away from you, and we have had this every day here. Thank Mrs. Wyndi for working as hard as you do to make this school run like a well-oiled machine. Thank you Mrs.Lourdes, Mrs. Seidy and Mrs Angie and Mrs. August for bringing joy to my children through your care and teaching and making the hours count, I know how hard you all work and we appreciate you so much! And Mrs. Maxine thank you for bringing a smile to my children's faces every day we saw you. I might not be mentioning everybody, but I was always happy to see all your faces. Our 16 month old started at this school Monday, Aug 5, 2024 and attended for 4 days. She spent the…read morelast day of the week at home because she had a fever of 103 after four days at this facility. While she was out, we received a notification through the SpourtAbout app. We opened it to find the photo our a school bulletin board. It was of a bulletin board displaying paper monkeys the students painted this week, with photos of the students (many of which are Black and Brown students) in a tree, next to the monkey they painted. The book that was attached to this cross-curricular art and literacy lesson was The Five Little Monkeys Sitting In a Tree by Elieen Christelow. The problem here is this whole bulletin board is culturally insensitive and could even be considered racist. Historically, The Five Little Monkeys were originally known as The Five Little Nigg**s HANGING in a Tree. Five Little Monkey books and nursery rhymes have been banned in multiple countries and sectors of education, as they have a racist history. While this is a popular children's nursery rhyme, many have adopted more appropriate substitutes for monkeys like Five Little Fishes or Five Little Sharkies....anything other than monkeys, which is a terrible animal to use to refer to your students, especially your children of color. As educators & care givers, cultural awareness and sensitivity is something that should be one of the facility's top priorities! Perhaps the staff at the La Petite Academy of Rialto could benefit from a series of unconscious bias, cultural sensitivity, cultural diversity and cultural competency trainings. Due to the lack of cultural awareness of your staff, we, as a Black family, no longer feel comfortable sending our toddler to the La Petite Academy of Rialto and have unenrolled our child as of today. Toddler Class Teachers: Most of the teachers we encountered for the 4 days our child was here were fairly warm and welcoming. One in particular, Ms. Brenda, our child's main teacher, did not give us the warm and fuzzies. She never really made us feel comfortable or reassured us that our child was in good hands with her. We felt like she didn't really care for her job and was there to just go through the motions. Our child had a rough first week adjusting to her first time in day care at 16 months and we truly appreciate the other teachers that we saw on camera making an effort to comfort our child when needed. Ms. Brenda is not a part of that. She would interact with our toddler like she was a middle schooler, very straight face and overly serious. Not my preference in a toddler caregiver. Positive: Ms. Wendy in the front office (I believe she is the assistant director) was amazing. She is warm, inviting and sells the school. She made us feel very comfortable there and was extremely apologetic for the lack of awareness in this situation. Ms. Wendy was the one who gave us our initial tour and was the reason we placed our child in this school. The only reason La Petite Academy of Rialto gets THREE stars is because of Ms. Wendy. Otherwise, my rating would be lower. Negative: When monitoring the app, we never seen them clean the kids hands, especially before eating or after coming back inside from outside play time. Positive: We appreciate the ability to view what's going on with our child via their app/classroom cameras. Negative: The updates in the apps were not always accurate. They would submit things like "Your child ate all of their lunch" but we would view the live stream and they were still in the middle of lunch when the update would come through.
