This spring I struggled to find a landscaper that provided quality products and services that were reasonably priced. I sought out recommendations from family, friends, Yelp and Facebook groups. I even joined a FB Horticulture group. My success was lackluster at best. Contractors I talked to were either overpriced or appeared to not be interested in taking on the challenge. By July, my wife suggested asking our local nursery to see if they had any recommendations since they were in the industry. Who knew?! As I spoke the the owner of Serrano Nursery in Reche Canyon he told me they could help! Mr. Serrano said "no problem" and quickly came by and gave me a quote the same day. The job required ground leveling, drainage piping, side yard concrete and sod. His quote was extremely reasonable and he was able to start right up. His team came by and I have to say we're very hard workers, very respectful and every time I asked for and unexpected need, Mr. Serrano always replied, "no problem"! The ground was leveled and drainage completed. The day concrete was to be done, the cement truck came that morning and then left. Wasn't sure why. They showed up again at noon and the concrete was poured. Well, the next day at 6:30am while on my morning commute to work, I get a call from Mr. Serrano. He asked if I saw the concrete and I said yes. It appeared fine to me. He said, I don't like it, I want to take it out and pour it again! My first thought was this is going to mess up my side yard bad. Then I thought, what integrity! Most other contractors would have just let it go and let you find puddling the next rainfall after summer was over. In addition the reason he sent the truck away was because he promised me 3,000psi concrete to me and they brought 2,500psi. Because they didn't show up again until the heat of the day with temps now in to the mid to high 90's, his people were fighting against time with cement drying quickly. So, at no additional cost to me, he removed and replaced the concrete and it was perfect! That experience really said a lot about Mr. Serrano's business ethic. We are very, very pleased with the outcome and have come to know Mr. Serrano and his wife better We now purchase many of our plants from their nursery. We could not have had a more positive experience! I will always go to Serrano's for additional landscaping work and have no problem recommending them to others. I did not purchase from this nursery because I wanted to buy citrus trees. The nursery is unable to sell citrus due to quarantine on the trees. Marina was extremely helpful in educating me on the citrus tree quarantine and pointing me in the right direction. I love this type of consumer service; thank you. read more

I agreed to pick up a plant for a friend in Arizona as I was driving back from a week in LA. He called ahead to make sure they had the plant and, knowing they open at 8am, I tried to schedule my drive so I arrived right at opening. Well, traffic was lighter than expected and I ended up getting there about 20 minutes early. As I parked a young woman waved at me through my window and as I got out of the car she asked me to let her know if I needed help. I told her I was picking up a tree for a friend, and she knew exactly the tree I was looking for and had already pulled it aside. She could not have been lovelier and more helpful and the tree was perfect and very healthy looking. I got a free water and was back in my car and on the road before they were even officially open. More businesses should be this friendly, accommodating and professional. If I lived in the community, I would do all my plant shopping at Serrano. It just brightened my morning! read more

I had recently bought a tree that didn't make it, and she personally helped me figure out why and offered to replace it no questions asked. I always have a great experience at the Serrano Nursery. They have a great variety and are super knowledgeable. If they don't have what you want they even order it for you. I so badly wanted to give this business a good review because the owner Andres is a nice fellow but I can't. My grass is beautiful... my plants are beautiful but working with this business was stressful. We hired him (Andres) for a large landscaping project that included sod, planters, succulent garden, and children's play area. Long story short, he started my project and didn't finish it. He may have stopped coming because we were finally fed up and called him out on his lack of professionalism. He would schedule a day to come and wouldn't. Then when he'd finally come, he and his team would rush to work on our project. Specifically regarding our planters, we asked him for a quote and after asking several times he ball parked it, came and planted the plants then gave me a bill 4X his ballpark. We were furious but nonetheless told him we'd pay him the balance of his bill when he finished. At this point we had already paid him several thousands. Since his bill was so high we then told him to only finish the planters, the drip lines and fix the patches of sod that needed attention since we were now forced out of our budget but after that day he never returned. read more

The prices are very fair, I thought. $15 for 5gal succulents and $19 for 5gal cactus and agave. I found some beautiful opuntia species, opuntia macrocentra, or purple prickly pear. Marina at Serrano Nursery is a well of knowledge. I was in a pinch and needed some information quickly on various plants, trees and roses that grow well in our area. She steered me away from some I would have spent a lot of money on and steered me to those that will fit my landscape needs and the areas in which to plant them. Also, if she does not have the exact rose, etc you want - she works with an army of wholesale nurseries that will assist her. In this day and age it is so refreshing to find someone who is consistently nice and goes out of her way to see that you have what you want and need. We live in Sunnymead Ranch and this nursery is known for their quality plants and good current information. Thank you, Marina, for being there for all of us who need an excellent source of information and resources. UPDATE' i THOUGHT I posted this months ago ---- forgot to POST it to complete it. Anyway, I ordered 10 Double Delight roses from her m onths ago as I could not find any local nursersies with quality I needed. She ordered fromf her sources and delivered them and I could not believe the price and how healthy, bushy and full of blooms they were and huge blooms! The owner of a local nursery came to deliver some trees and was blown away by them saying "Unbelievable" Yup Such a blessing we live in Sunnymead Ranch and are close to her. Ordered a lot of different roses from her for delivery in M arch...... This is the time for her to order for roses available in spring. I highly advise others to do so. The nursery is small, but it has a better selection than Home Depot. The prices for the plants are amazing. Almost 50% of what you pay at Lowes and Home Depot. The owner or worker there is knowledgeable, very helpful, and nice. The place is a must if you are seeking plants for your lawn or garden! I would give it 6 stars if I could. read more
