So on Sunday morning at 6:10 am we left our house and got there at 7 am to pick some peaches. The sun had just risen and the orchard looked heavenly thru the peach trees. My husband and I picked a lot of peaches and some plums. I'll be making plum jam this week. But the peaches we enjoy eating as a snack, I also baked a peach galette. So delicious. The peaches are juicy and sweet. It was worth our time and money. We picked over 60 pounds. I have some to family and friends and the rest we are enjoying it daily. I even made a whipped ricotta and peach toast. Delicious. I'm hoping I will have time to go back again one more time this season. The $45 per person covers entry, in addition to one apple cider can (a pretty large one), an apple treat (we got apple pie made at a local bakery), and a bag of apples. We got there about half an hour before opening and were one of the first ones there, which was helpful when choosing/picking apples as later on the farm got busier. The apples were a fair size--lots of damaged ones but I'm sure that means they don't use any pesticides or anything. The farm also had two cute and friendly kitties that came up to us! Overall, I would recommend this farm for a nice little getaway from LA city life. I would recommend booking a reservation and arriving early, as parking can get packed and the farm does get pretty busy.

I stop weekly to purchase multiple bouquets for my mother. She loves sunflowers and as long as she waters them, they will last for a few weeks. They are some of the largest sunflowers, nothing like you find in the stores. They sell beautiful roses and assorted arrangements as well. During the various holidays, they have holiday arrangements and they are so vibrant and festive. Sometimes they will have fresh produce such as watermelon or other locally sourced fruit, but not often. If they do, buy it, try it because it's fresh and flavorful. They accept cash and Venmo! There is a cash box to leave your money in case an employee isn't working directly at the stand to take your payment.

Pro's: very friendly staff that directed you to the best area to currently pick from. This weekend they had both renier cherries and apricots ready for picking. Not too crowded eventhough we got there around noon on a holiday. Plenty of ripe trees to choose from. Great weather. The cherries were a good size. Price is very reasonable. Porta potty on site if needed. Con's: no parking lot. Street parking only. If it gets busy you'd have to park and walk into the farm. Cash only. Due to Covid precautions they do not have a washing station for you to wash and try out the fruit or even wash your hands from picking the fruit.

An easy 1-hour jaunt from Los Angeles, jlfarms' spacious cherry orchard features 50% Rainier cherry trees (yay!) as well as Lapin, Bing, and Brooks varieties. Cherry picking season at the farm opened on June 3 this year and typically runs several weeks. Cherries are $6/pound. It being our first time cherry picking, we weren't sure what to expect when we arrived late morning on the first weekend. What we discovered: cherry picking is EASY AND FUN FOR ALL! True to the farm's website, the trees are trimmed 7 to 9 feet, with fruit-laden branches within immediate reach for adults and kids alike. In fact, cherry picking is way easier than strawberry or apple picking! A friend's pint-sized little ones had a blast picking cherries, and the number and spacing of the trees made it easy to socially distance from other groups. Within an hour or two, we picked a whopping 20 pounds of cherries! In addition to feasting on sweet fresh cherries, we also made cherry pie and turnovers and froze some cherries for later use. IMPORTANT: BRING CASH. The farm is CASH ONLY, which is not listed on the website. Sunscreen is also good, as the area can get hot, windy, and dusty (although the trees provide a nice windbreak). PRO TIP: while all the trees had lots of cherries, heading to the rows on the side of the property can be especially fruitful (pun fully intended). The cherries were so thickly clustered that you can pick them by the handful!
