I had a poor experience with the folks I hired to do the water mitigation work, originally planning to have them also do the remodel and then just really bad luck trying to hire another contractor-lots of no shows, or folks who showed up for the estimate but then not follow through when I tried to hire them. After all that, dealing with Joe was like a breath of fresh air. He came out to check out my space within a week of contacting him, took his time looking around and telling me his thoughts, which I appreciated. When he was a day or two later than he mentioned getting me the written estimate, he reached out to let me know. He followed up after the estimate, which I received during a super busy time personally, and I was ready to schedule the work but had to postpone, due to last minute travel for work. We agreed on a date after I returned, and again he followed up to make sure we were still on. This kind of communication has been unheard of, in my experience with hiring other professionals to work on my house, and I really appreciated it. Joe has been responsive, reliable, and friendly throughout, accommodated my work schedule and any interactions I had with his team were also fine. We couldn't understand why all the radiators in the home looked like they had exploded (every pipe in the house had burst from a freeze-up); Why the whole place was damp and moldy (from flooding caused by the burst pipes); Why all the interior doors were missing (he had harvested all the home's original 6-panel doors), or why corbels and other Victorian accents were stripped off the walls (more of his harvesting). I also wondered why he balked when I wanted to send contractors to the home to give us estimates on repairs (he was afraid one of them would enlighten us).
