They also hadn't finished putting finished insulated walls on all of the exposed brick, but said it would be done by the end of summer. I agreed to all of this and had a few other questions when one week before I was supposed to move in, they said they found another renter who would take the apartment "as-is". So turns out they continued to show the apartment that they had promised to me, and then rented it out to someone who was naive enough to take an unfinished apartment all because they couldn't be bothered to bring the building up to code and make it habitable. They have no qualms about allowing their tenants to foot a massive electric bill so they don't have to weather-proof, fire-proof and bug-proof an old building that's falling apart.
