A great spot with great vibes. The food is spectacular with a Ukrainian flare. The staff is amazing and welcoming. The entire experience is a 10 end-to-end.

Came for a brunch after a recommendation. Tried something new, the Huevos Rancheros. First of all, itvwas busy. Always a good sign. Our server was first class. The brunch was superb and I enjoyed it all very much. Highly recommend.

Super cute spot, trendy, live plants, hipster feel inside. Great service, friendly waitresses, good amount of seating. Prices and selection of items on the menu are good! Place to hang coats at the front door (important as we wear parkas here in S'toon). I had a modified brunch Benny (holly on side). Eggs were perfectly cooked medium, rosemary potatoes with sea salt cooked crunchy how I like, bacon tasted great and cooked to perfection. I loved the diced chives as garnish. Got an eggnog donut to go which was filled with delicious custard. I enjoyed my experience here. Would return!

A pleasant modern take on the classic brunch spot. Atmosphere: 4/5 - Modern & sleek with not the most comfortable seating. Price: $$$/5 - Average for brunch ($14 - $18 a plate). Customer Service: 4/5 - Server was polite. Service was slightly slower than average speed. Location: 4/5 - Lots of nice shops nearby. Close to river & transit. Taste: 4/5 - Average to above average depending on plate. Menu: 4/5 - Average size menu with many classic brunch plates. Gluten Free friendly. Sustainability: 3/5 - Committed to locally produced ingredients in some plates. Strengths - Tasty food. Weaknesses - Lacking in sustainable initiatives. Good items to buy: Huevos Rancheros, French Toast Straight Up, Doughnut of the day. Summary: 3.8/5 - Overall, I would recommend stopping by Hometown Diner. They have some of the best brunch food in Saskatoon. Their menu is average size and full of classic brunch plates. They have amazing donuts with unique flavours. Interestingly, they have a large brunch alcohol menu. I really appreciate their commitment to using local ingredients but feel like they could be doing more in terms of sustainability. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope it helps you!!

    Scrambler

My favourite brunch place in the city. Giving it 4-stars because of the two times that I've ordered their chicken and waffles and both times the chicken came out burnt and very dry. So I decided to maybe not order anything else for a while and just stick to my tried and tested, the Scrambler. It's so good. The restaurant's aesthetic is a win for me. Service is always great no matter how busy the place is, which is every damn day. It's probably the only restaurant in the city I'd consider sitting in a communal table.

Over priced brunch style place. The food is average. It is hard to mess up with egg, bacon and hash brown. Avocado toast is surprisingly small. One slice bread, some avocado, two slices of tomato, an egg = $10?? Coffee and tea are expensive here. Ask the price before you order anything to drink. I had better food at lower price in the same style of restaurant in Vancouver B.C. I guess the cost here is higher than in the big cities. 3 stars is for the food. 5 stars for the clean environment, especially the washroom. This is a place for people wanting the "style" not the food. You cannot expect having conversations in this restaurant. It is so noisy and the service is to rush you out once you finish your food.

Really cute diner in Saskatoon. Amazing food and delicious coffee! The staff were happy to make recommendations for other little hot spots in the area.

Steak and Eggs with side of greens and multigrain toast.

The atmosphere here is excellent! Very unique and a cool place to meet for a meal. Great service and friendly staff made the hospitality stand out. The menu had good options and we appreciated how they highlighted the local businesses that they get food from. Food wise we had the Heuvos rancheros and steak and eggs. The eggs had a deep colour and were very tasty. The Heuvos had a good portion size and were delicious. The steak came presliced (interesting choice) and the side of greens were more of a garnish then a side. (3 pieces of lettuce and a tomato ). But the toast and meal were satisfying. You pay for the quality of the place and we have to say that the low light was that the coffee was fairly watery and a bit of a let down but it could have been the pot that day. Overall 4/5 and we would come back and recommend this place.

Great space with a big city feel. Amazing eggs Benedict and good strong coffee. Check out their daily donuts!

Sort of a pretentious hipster vibe. The food is actually very good in an expensive breakfast involving avacado and sprouts kind of a way.

Alright.... so I have had doughnuts across Canada and always try to stop at a local doughnut shop…read morein every city I go to and this far, to date (Sept 2019), Darkside Doughnuts is probably one of my favorites. Some friends and I were in Saskatoon for a powerlifting competition and I mean if you know anything about strength sports, you know that we love sweets and cheat meals so a perfect reason to stop. We got half a dozen of assorted doughnuts - mine was the dark fudge - and they were delicious. They weren't huge like some fancy doughnuts and they weren't super dense and dry like others. I loved that the doughnut was chewy but not cakey (I thought of the texture like a chewy tasty dinner roll) and that the icing/glaze wasn't too sweet but still wonderfully sticky and thick. My friends got the carrot cake fritter and the strawberry cream. Both said great things about their choices. My only regret is that I didn't buy more and I don't know when I'll be able to go back and have more. If you're in Saskatoon, go check it out. If you're there and driving back to Edmonton, pick up half a dozen and bring them back to me.

Price: $$$/5 - Average for premium doughnuts but still expensive (ie// higher than you'll pay at Tims). Customer Service: 4/5 - Server was polite. Service was very quick. Location: 3/5 - Close to Victoria Park, the river & transit. Kind of out of the way for most people though. Taste: 5/5 - Amazing, best doughnuts in Saskatoon. Great texture. Large size. Menu: 4/5 - Menu is a little smaller than I would prefer but they have excellent & unique flavours that are constantly changing each month. Vegan friendly. Sustainability: 2/5 - Darkside appears to care about the community but doesn't have any sustainable initiatives other than using local flour. Strengths - Delicious Weaknesses - Lacking in sustainable initiatives, expensive. Good items to buy: Coffee + Doughnut (I got saskatoon berry available in August 2019). Summary: 3.7/5 - Overall, I would definitely recommend stopping by Darkside Donuts if you are looking for a treat. They have some of the best doughnuts in Saskatoon. Their menu is small but changes each month encouraging you to return again and again. One thing I wish is that Darkside would make some sustainable initiatives as well as tout the fact that they are using local flour more as that is something I know many people care about. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope it helps you!!

The doughnut menu looks impressive and we both agreed our favorite out of what we tried was PB&J. Some of the flavors, while sounding like they should be fancy and delicious, were kinda meh. We also both agreed our second favorite was Chocolate Peanut Butter but we could give or take the rest. We'd actually have to come back a second time to try other flavors as you can only choose three flavors per dozen and we already felt we spent too much as it was on two dozen doughnuts. We also tried a doughnut milkshake, which was truly delicious but not worth spending the money more than once ever. We chose the flavor Strawberry Bella and I suppose for the amount of calories you're consuming while drinking this regular size beast of a beverage, you're paying for a meal. The photos of the milkshakes on the Facebook page are fancier than what you're served. There's a mini size milkshake which would barely be enough for two people to share and enjoy if you love sugar the way we do. My eyes started to burn within a few minutes of being here, which I'm sure was from the atmospheric oil. By the time we left, we both wreaked of oil/doughnuts and had to wash our clothes. My eyes burned for about an hour after we left as well. My spouse wears contact so he wasn't affected. Service was okay but not friendly. You're selling crazy expensive mini doughnuts, people. I'd like to think you'd have super bubbly staff and a high energy establishment so you feel a little better about making people break the bank for gluten. I haven't noticed prices on the website or Facebook page either and it's probably because it would scare you away. I'd suggest you try it once. I will take visitors here because it's a treat but never expect them to pay their own bill because they just may think it's insane. You truly do pay waaay less at a mini doughnut stand and those mini doughnuts are bigger. Also, if you go, be prepared to stink and don't be surprised if your eyes burn too. FYI, I paid $27.72 for two dozen mini doughnuts and a regular size milkshake.
