They have repaired the old furnace in the past and it was past its prime! They are really great to work with. Totally incompetent installers for fireplaces, they spent 1 1/2 days trying to install three sections of chimney pipe and totally failed. Never got pipes correctly locked together, under estimated the proper height of the chimney, management was given the pitch of the roof and still showed up with the wrong metal boot , installers butchered the boot to make it fit and in doing so left huge gaps that would have allowed water leaks, did not install tall enough chimney for the pitch of the roof of which they were well aware of, now I have to add pipe to insure proper draft as currently I'm getting smoke in the house. Management was giving all necessary dimensions and measurements to do the job correctly. When they screwed the support brackets, they screwed them into just the sheetrock that would hold nothing instead of screwing into the studs.Never completed installation, never installed blower or glass doors of which I paid extra for. I'm currently considering having the fireplace inspected by a professional to insure it is safe to use I had a general contractor with over 20 years experience in home building properly reinstall chimney that only took an hour and a half. Would not recommend using these people to install a fireplace, only can hope they do better work on HVAC. In response to your answer to my review, my contractor is far from a drug addict. In fact he is a devoted Christian with over 20 years experience and impeccable reputation, how can you make excuses for your incompetent employees spending a day and a half trying to put four pieces of pipe together and they still failed even you stated upon seeing the pictures that it was "unacceptable " and I have the recorded phone call, my contractor did it in an hour and a half and it is properly installed secondly, no you did not refund my money you still have $4000 of my money . You don't have any idea of what a competent installer is or a qualified employee you're telling me my contractor put studs in the way they're called Roof rafters, which were on 24 inch centers properly installed. I gave you the exact pitch and the exact dimensions of my project and you miscalculated everything. Calling my contractor a drug addict just goes to show the lack of integrity and the lack of respect that your business poses. The photographs clearly show the poor Installation the pipes not locked together properly a sheet rock screw going through The rain cap you need to seriously review your employees and your installation processes. I would gladly remove my review if you had refunded all of my money. I paid you $4000. You refunded me nothing you Merely wiped the slate clean so I didn't have to pay for the materials that you're incompetent help screwed up and Destroyed but I guess that's what you Can expect from a crew of two incompetent people . Also the reason two boots were ordered is because you told me you didn't know which one I needed and how would a homeowner know what's needed,after all YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE PROFESSIONAL THAT WAS VERY POORLY DEMONSTRATED. I would have installed a support bracket if you had provided one that fits the pipe system you sold me Apparently, you're not even aware of the size of the chimney pipe that you sell. And just so the truth is told, you didn't call it quits,I forbid you from continuing the circus of incompetence.Can you imagine the owner of a legitimate company name calling and judging people that she knows nothing about, and her verbal attacks on anyone that leaves a negative review. Hometown heating and air conditioning are the most unprofessional company I have ever hired . They installed a 410 A combo outside central air unit in May 2022 . When they hooked it up they never checked to see the upstairs unit , To make sure they were compatible. In May of this year they had to come because it was blowing hot air . Had no refrigerant. Again didn't ask to go upstairs to look for a leak . Just recharged it and left it. Now we have water leaking into our upstairs bedroom. Today Charles heating and plumbing came . Come to find out when the our door air conditioner was installed it wasn't compatible with the r22 upstairs. Thank you so much Brandon for your help . So I called Hometown and they take zero responsibility. They say they are compatible. So on the advice of Brandon I called carrier north east . And they confirmed they are not compatible. So I called hometown back and tried to explain that I talked to carrier and asked them to call . All I got was we do business with carrier all of the time they won't say that . My prior home HVAC contractor passed away and the replacement company left a lot to be desired. When I purchased my current home 5 yrs ago, it came with an installed gas fireplace, which soon needed service. Hometown made the repair quickly and efficiently very shortly after my call. The Central Air unit we later found had their sticker on it and verified it had been purchased from them by prior owner. We were already pleased with prior service, so we have them clean and check the unit as well as our furnace. They are always timely, professional, considerate, and get the job done well. read more

When an issue popped up about the remote control unit they asked that we wait until Eric was back from vacation. Eric installed the remote control unit yesterday, extremely quick and very courteous. We recently replaced a 24 year old furnace, air conditioner, and hot water heater ... and while we were at it, we had the air ducts cleaned at the same time. Ryan and his crew came right on time, put down drop cloths so they could walk through the house without making a mess and started immediately. After 6 hours everything was done and they cleaned up everything and took it all away. Ryan explained all the new features, tried the furnace and AC to make sure it was working properly and explained the warranty. I have no complaints. They were polite, professional and personable. I'm in E Syracuse (I don't know why my profile had California so I just updated that) I had my ducts cleaned today (way overdue, last time was 2011 by Hometown). Here's what to expect going into it because 1 great idea will lead to a snowball effect of things getting done along the way. 1) save $100 by removing all the vent covers yourself (trust me, easy peezy. Get your + and - screw drivers out and tape the screws to each vent cover) 2) Pull all furniture away from all vents so he can get to them easily 3) this will lead to vacuuming in long forgotten areas (I could have made another dog out of all the hair) 4) plan on this taking 3 hours for a 2 story house 5) the technician will explain what's going to happen 6) a door will have to stay open so that the big hose can go from the truck to the furnace (today is a cold day but not snowing. yes, it got very cold inside the house. Put on slippers and a coat and you'll live) 7) the technician is in an out many times, no he's not taking his shoes off (again, you'll live) 8) now is a good time to wash and even spray paint those vents 9) when the tech is done you may have to vacuum again. Not because of the tech but because of everything getting moved back into place. That's about it. Yes, my house was in disarray for a few days as we got things ready after work each night. But hey, it all needed to be done and you can feel the good feng shui vibes flowing again! read more

Hometown H & AC, 4/15/2022 had them clean our heating system ducts and dryer vent. They were prompt for a noon appointment, he called and said he was on the way, arriving at 12:15 or so. Burt was excellent, setting up and performing all his work procedures. Was courteous and professional while performing the work throughout our house. I had an old furnace 27 years old and inefficient to have an annual check up which we only had done once before. The tech found out my furnace needed some costly repairs which he carefully showed how mine was operating and how it should and was considered a hazard in fact my furnace was always on and would never shut off. I asked for several prices from repairs to new ones and he gave me several quotes that same day for several models was never pushy let me think about it for a few days and was told just call if interested and no charge for the a house call. After discussing with wife we decided on a new energy savings furnace. The tech showed us after how we could get money back from National grid by purchasing a high efficiency. They made a point to do ours right away since it was no longer operating safely. The techs came in very professionally and installed the furnace in about 3 hours much faster than expected. They cleaned up everything and it looked as though no one was there except I had a new furnace in place of the old one. Price seemed very reasonable. I am real happy with my new furnace, it has a 10 year warranty. I hope it lasts as long as my old one. I will recommend this place to everyone as they were thorough in showing me my problem and never pushing me to buy anything but recommended and gave me several price budgets. 5 Stars. read more

Do not go with this company; they are unprofessional and will leave you financially responsible for their mistake. The first hot weekend, we turned on our central AC. It was working fine, but then we heard a horrible noise coming from the condensate pump. I called hometown heating to replace it. They came that Monday. He did not check to see if my system was still working after he replaced it. I stupidly did not run it that week because it was cool out, and I trusted that they could handle a simple job, as well as my system itself had been working fine before he came. Fast forward to the following Saturday when there's a heat advisory. I lay down after working a 12 hr night shift. My husband comes up to inform me the outside AC unit isn't turning on. I think what horrible luck we're having. I have a toddler in the house. I first call hometown heating; they say they're not available until Monday. I initially took the appointment in case I couldn't find anyone else that weekend; I didn't think to be pushy about it (the scheduler brought up my previous visit so they were aware they had done work that week). I frantically start calling other companies throughout the day; as the day went on my toddler's room was reading 100 degrees. I start researching portable AC units that I can pick up to use temporarily (they're over $300). Another company calls me back at 4 saying they're fitting me in and are coming now. I of course accept. I take him outside to the outside part of the unit; he hooks up a tester and it immediately turns on and tells me the problem must be it not being signaled from inside. I show him the thermostat, which is on. I take him down to where the furnace and condensate pump are. He takes off the little caps that I'm assuming cover the wiring connections between the pump and furnace. He asks if my husband and I did this because it's clearly not done right. I tell him no, we had a professional come. He has me take pictures because it's clearly messed up. He fixes the wiring connections from the condensate pump. Magically my system starts working again. It was clear the difference between the two companies, because this technician inspected everything even after the AC turned on and tested the condensate pump itself was working to make sure we had no unexpected issues. The company was Charles Heating; I highly recommend you go there instead. I then go to work another 12 hr night shift on no sleep. Early Monday, I call hometown heating to cancel and explain the situation. I first get their answering service; that woman was very polite and professional. Later another woman calls saying I heard you called to cancel an appointment? I politely say well yes I did let the other woman know I didn't need the appointment, but the issue was caused by the work you did on Monday, and I would like to talk to someone about being reimbursed. She immediately gets snotty and says "it was actually the owner who came out, he's been doing this for 35 years, you'll have to take it up with him." I say ok have him call me. He calls me back. His tone was polite, but he keeps insisting I should have told them I wasn't ok with waiting until Monday. I keep explaining I was worried about my toddler with the heat advisory so when your scheduler said you were booked until Monday, I was desperately trying to find someone who could come out as my daughter's room was 100 degrees. He keeps saying well they would have fixed it for free. I keep explaining that I didn't know to be pushy when I called because I didn't initially know it was their mistake. I send him photos of the bad wiring job, as well as reiterating the inconvenience it caused me. He then again just says well it's your fault for not expressing your unhappiness when you accepted the appointment on Monday and not letting the scheduler know I was concerned for my toddler, was 7 months pregnant, and would be working (as an RN who takes care of kids) on no sleep. Do not trust them to do their work right and do not trust them to stand by their work. I now had to pay double for a simple job. I will be taking this further but hoping to save people the headache of dealing with them with this review. read more

This company installed a furnace with my neighbor last year. He gouged them on the price and didn't terminate the condenser wires or the humidifier wires in the correct place. He also went over for a service call in the warranty period and was there for a total of 10 minutes but still charged them $100 for the call, even though it should have fallen under the warranty! The say they have 24/7 emergency service. We were an existing customer. The heat went out Saturday. After 4 phone calls and one e-mail they got back to us 15 hours later. I would give this company a negative score if I were allowed to. They were very sneaky with their service. We found their add in the Clipper, when they came out to do a tune up he ended up doing more than expected and did not tell us he would be charging us more than what we talked about. Their work is shotty, leaking the following day. The customer service representative has no business speaking to anyone over the phone. She was beyond rude and extremely vulgar. What company or respectful women would tell someone to "suck their d***". I would strongly advise people to look else where and avoid doing business with the terrible company. read more

The HVAC company we had been doing business with for years had gone out of business without notifying its customers....we needed an appointment for a furnace inspection....fast! We were at a loss as to which company to call. By chance, a plumber recommended Hometown Heating. We saw that they were located within just a few miles of our home, offered emergency service, and came HIGHLY recommended by this plumber, whom we really trusted. So, we decided to try them out. I had an issue with my high efficiency electric heater which was leaking water all over my basement. They sent Phil, who was very personable, professional and made this service quick and pain free. He went above and beyond to explain to me the problem and solutions as well as future preventative measures. He performed the job in a very timely manner and went a step further to make sure that this issue doesn't reoccur in the near future. Chimney installed incorrectly and unsafely two times, offered no compensation, and stopped responding to our inquires for resolution. We hired a certified inspector who found many safety issues with the installation. The town code enforcement officer was unable to issue a certificate of compliance for the stove. The professionals explained that the stove should have never been installed where it was, and there was nothing that could be changed in the original location to operate it safely. We asked Hometown Fireplace Outlet to remove the stove/chimney, and return our $3749.60, as the wood stove was completely useless to us. Hometown Fireplace Outlet told us they were unwilling to remove the stove, or refund our money, and after trying to deal with them directly, they stopped returning my phone calls or emails. We had the stove moved to a different location in our home which cost $1600. Cost of the wood stove is now over $5000, doesn't heat our whole home. read more
