They put in our new A/C system and then Jon changed some stuff around on our furnace that was not properly put in when another company installed the furnace. The technician, Jeff, and parentheses was professional, smart, honest, informed me as to exactly what was happening with my air conditioning central air system. My son and I are very happy with Mapstone Heating. His furnace went out yesterday, with him being a new homeowner and us not familiar with gas furnaces, I had him call Debbie. Having my grandchildren in the home and it being after hours, I was very impressed with the instant service my son was given. We spent over $6,000 on a new furnace a couple years ago with Mapstone. No issues. Our central air stopped working a few months ago. Tech came out and was there 45 minutes and fixed the issue. Loose wire. The tech spent 30 mins talking football and 15 mins tightening wire. Provided invoice of $150 plus tax. Okay. 5 Weeks later I was sent a text to pay the bill by clicking a link. I was out of town and couldn't remember the total so I paid it trusting it was correct. I paid a bill that was $310. Mistake on the amount? I called and explained the details 3 times, twice to receptionist and once to Debbie. She challenged me on details and said tech was there longer to justify higher amount and it was stated on invoice he was there only 45 minutes. She agreed to correct the situation which I assumed was refunding $150. Just got a check for $50. We talked again and she said the tech talked for 30 minutes which would equate to $50. I'm glad she decided that. That should be deducted from the invoice of $150, NOT from a made up amount of $310. I'm sorry your tech didn't charge what you wanted. Not the customer's problem. Again, having spent over $6000 already don't have this bad review written over $100 and disputed on our credit card. read more

We bought a home in the area, and before closing, the owner let us know there was some work done by Mapstone- specifically expanding and sealing a gas pipe. After our home inspection, the inspector noticed there was a small gas leak that needed to be fixed. The owner immediately contacted Debbie and was told it would be done. According to Debbie it was an unusually busy time, and they couldn't schedule to fix a gas leak right away (?!). After pushing from the owner and coordinating schedules on our end, Mapstone finally came out (over one month later) to fix the leak. We were assured the problem was fixed, despite the fact that I still had faint smells of gas here and there. We settled into our new home, each started new jobs, all the while I'd occasionally smell a bit of gas just in one specific spot in the house. We decided to finally call a different company, who came out and diagnosed a leak still present. We were debating whether or not to call Mapstone again, but due to their track record and lack of promptness we went with this second company. This other company came back out a few weeks later and fixed it. The timeline of this from start to finish was approximately 5 1/2 months. We called Mapstone to let them know they didn't do a proper job and they really should know about it. We didn't necessarily expect them to foot our new bill, but Debbie told my husband she'd look into it and see what she could do. When I called her to follow up she said she would never pay the bill from another company. She essentially blamed us for not calling them again to fix the problem, throwing in sarcasm saying "oh it must've been a really big gas leak if you waited MONTHS to call someone." Well, Debbie, it wasn't a full blown gas smell every time- just a whiff here and there. It was enough of a problem to have fixed, however. If you ever call national grid or any other gas company they advise you to immediately open the windows and correct the situation. They treat even the smallest gas leak like a potential disaster, because of the nature of gas leaks! In hindsight we should've let Mapstone know of our displeasure in their services right away, but due to their history and our lack of trust in them, we decided not to. We will never recommend them, and this isn't because people make A mistake. We get that. It was the repeated attempts to fix the job, the lack of promptness in treating a gas leak, and the sarcasm and blame inflicted on us when we called to wrap up the situation. In customer service it's important to treat customers with respect and courtesy, not blame and deflection. Just...apologize and help move the situation along. We are reasonable people. We want nothing to do with this company. I will refrain from mentioning the other company we used out of courtesy, but there are much better ones out there, and you should steer clear of this one. read more

I had Doug Mapstone out to give a yearly check on my heating system before winter set in. The tech was polite and on time, but he was much more interested in selling me some sort of advanced monitoring gadget for my system than do what he was asked to do - just check the system. I had a minor part (a fluorescent tube that supposably reduces dust) that I had the option of replacing. After deciding to do so, the tech. told me he would order the part and call when it came. Nearly a year later, I'm still waiting. In all, the service wasn't bad, but clearly not impressive. There was a Mapstone Heating and Plumbing when I moved to the area about 4 years ago. They were fantastic! I understand that the owners of these two Mapstones are related. I don't know what happened to the first Mapstone H&P other than they went out of business or Doug Mapstone incorporated them into his business, but Doug Mapstone should take some lessons from the other Mapstone. read more

I've contacted Mapstone twice this year for non-emergency problems and have ended up receiving same day service. They are pleasant, neat, polite, efficient and know what they're doing. read more

Unfortunately I had a very bad experience with Mapstone over a rather simple issue. I simply cannot recommend.
