I prepaid for 3 hours. The guys were amazing, who are contracted BTW and not a reflection of the owner, and got it done in 2 hours and 45 minutes. While trying to give them the pay code from UHAUL, it wanted to charge me a fourth hour. The guys called the owner, he said "Just put it through, I will refund her the hour by check". I never received a check. He "cut it three times and mailed it". I am good friends with previous landlord and a check was never received there or at my current address. He then said he would get with his co-worker and they would Venmo me while I was on the phone. He never called back. I am VERY SURE he never cut a check and just wanted to scam that fourth hour. I had to dispute it with my credit card company, and still waiting on results. Also, he FIRED the contractors for not completing four hours of work and told me so during one of my many phone calls over the last 3 months. He told me they didn't work the amount of time they were paid for. He knew from the day they worked that it was an issue with the UHAUL app, not the movers. Do not use this company. read more

They never called, destroyed furniture and walls, smoked hash while moving and offered some to my neighbors wife, didn't complete the job the same day and wanted to come back another day because he had to go somewhere that night, they got into an argument the guy cut his knee got blood on the carpet, dove in with a truck that had "CRAZY RYTHM" 420 which stands for marijuana and vaping it, and they looked the part!!!! Also one of the movers said that he couldn't come another day because he had to turn himself in to the Jail that night for a DWI and was out of prison for a felony!!!! One star is too high of a rating. The employees were unprofessional - complaining about doing the job and that this was more than they wanted to do, asking me to collect and move my own items, stating that their boss is physically and emotionally abuse, and did not complete the job properly. They told me it was done when there was furniture pieces in plain sight. They broke one of the doors in my house, and they did absolutely nothing to fix it. The owner was the most disrespectful - I called for help with my door, and he continued to hang up on me. They were trying to charge me more than how long they did work for, because they only round to the nearest hour. He was cursing at me on the phone for wanting to pay with credit card despite him confirming with me that this was an option when I booked them. When I said I have no cash, since I was told I can pay with credit card, he threatened to call the cops for service without payment. Please do not book them ever. read more

After not confirming my job within 24 hours (as U-haul promises), I reached out after a week or so to confirm my move and left a voicemail. The voicemail went unreturned. A few days later I called again and spoke with the owner who said he'd call me back by 2:30 to confirm the move. He said due to COVID he didn't have a receptionist and had been working 16-18 hour days. By 4:30 there was no word, so I decided to cancel and find new movers (heck, by the sounds of how busy they are, they seem to have plenty of business and don't need mine!) Sure enough, he immediately called me back asking if I had canceled (which I did) and then started getting clearly frustrated and said he didn't call back yet because he had been stuck in traffic and wasn't back in the office yet. He also made sure to let me know that if I cancel, then he is charged a 15% fee. After raising his voice and sounding quite frustrated/angry, I responded that this wasn't my fault and he had weeks to get in contact with me before then. He then promptly said "Okay, fine. Bye" and hung up. If that isn't a clear showcase of their lack of professionalism and customer care, I don't know what is. I talked directly to the owner on the phone, set up my appointment, and then they never showed up, and never called to say they were running late, not coming, and then never called to apologize. I called the day of my appointment several hours before my appointment to confirm that everything was square. The secretary said she'd confirm my appointment and then never called me back to do so. I called 26 times over the next several hours, and they never answered--but sent me straight to voicemail several times. They never returned my call, never called to apologize for not showing up....and I was left with a $150 truck and my boyfriend to complete the move on my own. I pressured the rental truck company to let me pick up my truck an hour earlier than planned to try to avoid some bad weather, at the request of the owner. We started an hour early and because of not being provided with truly proficient movers my paid 2 hours resulted in a single trip for 6 items. My new apartment was a 7 mile difference from my old location and that single trip was all that was able to be done because of who was sent for my movers. I don't hold it against the two movers sent as they did an ok job moving the 6 items they did. The fact that we could have moved a majority of my items in 2 trips but couldn't because they took too long with the single trip (and I had to help move my items that i specifically paid people to help move was annoying) there's better options for moving for whenever the next time comes up. Within 15 minutes of getting to the location they ran a Uhaul truck into the porch, broke my bed frame and shattered my desk. I asked them to leave, only to discover couch legs were broken because of the way they loaded the truck and they stole 13 furniture pads on their way out. Customer Service isn't something this company understands. They will swear, hang up and outright laugh at you for asking how long their insurance claim will take or where to send them pictures of the damage. One star is more than these people deserve. I am moving this weekend, August 27, and booked Homeward Bound Movers through the U-Haul website and Moving Helpers. I booked the movers on August 8 and called them that day to confirm my reservation, they never called me back. As my date is getting closer I called them again this week asking to please get a confirmation and they, again, did not call me back. I made a third attempt to call and their voicemail was full (which to me implies they do not even check their voicemail). It is now Friday and still no call back. I have canceled my reservations with this company and booked another company who confirmed within 5 minutes of making the reservation. First impression: the 2 movers looked sloppy, were unprofessional, extremely out of shape, lacked time management and poor space management using a 26 foot uhaul truck. If my boyfriend and I didnt step it to help, the movers would have suffered severely. We did circles around the movers and I am a female. It was embarrassing I could lift more than the movers. Jerry and his crew were very sloppy and destructive with all my belongings. not only did they steal my Kitchen Aid Mixer with the attachments. they did not use any moving blankets for my furniture when i received my furniture it was all broken. These guys were fantastic. We needed help unloading and moving in to our new place in Chelsea and they were a god send. First they had to deal with the truck being parked down the street from the actual apartment, and a massive flight of stairs. The managed to unload our entire 20ft truck in just under an hour, including a few excessively heavy pieces of furniture. I cannot thank them enough for all their help. read more

excellent moving company. leader is jerry. runs his moving crew like a seal team. they corrected disasterous move by anytime moving 24/7.

Showed up 2 hours late without calling, took 3 breaks that were 20 minutes long without mentioning it and we only hired them for 2 hours. After their 3rd break they came up and asked if we wanted to hire them for overtime to finish the job. I told them no only to find they had only packed about half the items, the rest were spread across our apartment hallway and apartment lobby. My wife and I had to finish packing our moving truck and honestly, we did it way faster and efficient than they did. They didn't tie down one single item, packed it very odd, and when they saw us walk outside they sped away like they knew they had screwed us over. I at one point looked down from the apartment to see one of them with their feet up, smoking a cigarette and playing on their phone in their van. Not only would I not recommend them, I would say you would be better off in every possible way doing your entire move project yourself. They looked unprofessional, and acted unprofessional, but I looked past it because I assumed they would do their job well. Boy, was I wrong. Absolutely terrible experience. I had a 950 square foot apartment that should have taken about an hour to pack a truck with, especially the way my wife and I had put everything together for them to just grab and load, but they purposefully tried to slow it down to make some extra money off of us. I just wanted to let you know that we did not have a good experience with the moving company "Homeward Bound Moving Solutions and Logistics" Tel: (810) 858-2468 - helpers that we hired through your affiliated website movinghelpe.com we booked and payed for in advance for an afternoon move on Sept 23rd, 2021 and until like 12:30 PM they did not even have the courtesy to call us and inform they would be late. When I called the guy named Jerry picked up the phone after several calls and without being apologetic was complaining about the weather and said he will be at our home at 2 PM. We had to delay renting the U-Haul until 1:30 PM from your Novi, MI location. We picked up the Van and waited for Jerry's crew to show up which they did not so I called them at 2:30 PM and they did not pick up the phone after a while I connected with Jerry and he said they will be at our home 3 PM. Now my son Shaan was moving into his Ann Arbor apartment and was given a window of 4 hours from 12 noon to bring his stuff. Well finally Jerry and his guys showed up after 4 PM, they were not masked, did not even have booties to cover their dirty shoes and just walked into our home. We were shocked with this absolute unsafe and rude behavior since we have several immunocompromised people living in our home but we did not want to upset them so we put up with this attitude. Later on Jerry shared with my wife that none of his crew including himself were vaccinated and they did not believe in vaccinating against COVID-19 virus. We were so shocked but could not do anything at that time. We strongly believe that these guys should declare on their website that they WILL NOT BE wearing masks and that THEY ARE NOT VACCINATED. That is the least they can do so people like us who have health issues can decide if we want them to come in our home or not. I would like to report this to your highest authority and maybe take some action. I want my review to be clear and honest. Homeward Bound Movers does have some friendly and hard working people like Hillary. BUT they also do employ some workers that are lazy and dishonest like Gerald Hayden. I booked Homeward Bound through Moving Help that is recommended through Uhaul. I added Movers to my Uhaul rental. DO NOT DO THIS. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH MOVING HELP. You do not get to see their corrupt terms of agreement when booking through Uhaul. I used this method on August 27, 2018. I ordered 2 movers for 4 Hours just to make sure I had enough help and didn't book them too short of time and would be out of movers if the work wasn't done. I asked Homeward Bound Workers Before they started that if they got done before the 4 hours would I be charged and was told I would only pay for the amount of time they worked. The 2 workers where doing an amazing job and were extremely friendly. 1 hour and 30 minutes in it got to the point where a couch needed to be moved in and logistically it seemed tough so they asked another worker that was in the area because if a job delay to come and see if they could help move this large couch. They came tried to help 1 time to get the couch in and gave up. They then proceeded to do what couldn't even be called helping move the last few things into the house and NOT where they needed to be very lazily. When everything was done in 2 hours (The extras that came and "help" were there for about 30 minutes) I was instructed by Moving Help and The m Homeward Bound that I needed to give them the Payment Code for the Job to be finished. I talked to Hillary again and one of the guys that came much later about of I was going to be charged the full amount or for just the 2 hours the were there and they assured me that I can put in somewhere that the job took 2 hours instead of 4. The other guy was even trying to show me and Hillary how to but that option never came up. I was told to contact them if the charges weren't changed. I did my job and contacted Moving Help which is Impossible by Phone any way other than contacting Uhaul and bugging them about this terrible and inconvenient partnership they have with Moving Help. After that I contacted Homeward Bound again through Hillary. They informed me that they were having this problem with other clients and Hillary was kind and helpful in wanting to help me with this issue. Moving Help DOES NOT HELP WITH COMPLAINTS. They send you to talk through them with the Moving Company instead of fixing the problem they have with their system. Hillary was willing to help above and beyond as far as refunding my money from her pocket but her being the kind person she is I as an honest man couldn't bring myself to that. BUT Gerald Hayden from Homeward Bound responded through the Moving Help Complaint and was RUDE and DISHONEST about the whole situation. It seems that he knows about this problem and is so corrupt he is willing to have clients and customers Pay for things that Homeward Bound Movers did not provide. My experience with this Homeward Bound Moving company was unimaginable, unacceptable and litigation will soon follow. Please run, run fast away from this (affordable) moving company. Remember less expensive doses not equal quality, integrity or professional. I experienced my movers taking a three hour move and stretching it to eleven hours. At one point my movers left for two hours to move another customer, the manager Hilary called me a "crack Head". Let's just say I never engage with people who speak such foolishness, I cannot come down to your level. Hilary demanded the pay code while my moving truck was still half full. When Hilary showed up to the drop off to see why her two movers were taking so long she brought a little girl approximately ten years old who was told to start moving items on the cart. I was in complete disbelief of what I witness throughout my moving day. Hilary told the two movers to walk off the job so my entire home goods, art,appliances and clothing were sprawled throughout the storage facility, leading to the elevator, on the elevator, to the sixth floor, down the sixth floor corridor hallway to my storage unit for approximately two hours. I could not possibly have watched my items, I question what is missing? Once the owner came to the location he threaten me verbal and with stature (I'm 5ft, tall woman) to where I had to call the storage facility manager to come and mediate. I could go on about the moving truck improperly packed and when the truck door was open my glass table top fell out and shattered, my Hillside furniture hand carved wood dining room table has embedded scraps from dragging it. The owner told me in his irateness he was going to sue me and I committed a felony. I was I must say again in total disbelief how a simple move turned into an eleven hour nightmare for me and will not end soon for me either. I will have to hire another moving company to take out all my belonging to inspect and inventory. File a motion in court, take time off from work (loss wages) and not be devastated of the loss of items I held dear to me inherited from my deceased parents, and worked hard for to purchase. The BBB has been contacted and I will verbally spread the word of my personal experience with the shysters who call themselves professional movers. Remember they said and believed I did them wrong and I own them money and said my belonging were already damaged. We had moving arrangements pre-paid through this moving company. Total joke. We contacted them upon reservation, then afterwards via phone and text to confirm, our move time and address. It took Hilary who said she'd contact us "right back" after she finished with a customer, 36 hours to get back with us. At that point less than 12 hours until our move & of course she couldn't accommodate our 11am move. Why on earth didn't she say that during the numerous other attempts to reach her, or agree to a late morning move? Totally unprofessional. We luckily were able to book with Affordable Movers in the area, who were AWESOME. Highly recommend you look elsewhere. Hilary and this company care less about you as the customer and more about their pocketbook and what suits them best. In an industry that is built on customer service that's just ridiculous. There was zero excuse for the incredibly poor customer service we received which thankfully we were able to scramble and rectify. Moving is stressful enough. Great company. Great Rates. These guys work their tail end off to get the job done quickly and on time so they do not add any more time to your bill. They never stop. They were pouring sweat and still kept going. Up stairs, down stairs, heavy, light, it didn't matter. They were professional and on time. Very careful when moving everything. This is the second time I used them. I booked them for my son who was super happy with the job and now he is having a friend book for his move. These guys are top at what they do and you can not beat the price. The only issue is reaching them on the phone. Hilary is hard to reach and it does take a bit of a turn around for her to call. However, she does call back. Just call a few times. Recommend highly. Would give them 10 stars if I could. read more
