We have talked every day about what my dads like and dislikes and what would make him most comfortable. They even gave him a haircut and beard trim to make him feel assured they will take care of him. My dad was only there 3 days and im very happy we were able to make him as comfortable as possible. The staff called us at the first changes to let us know what was happening. We are grateful for that time we had. The facility was warm and the staff was kind. Needed support during a difficult time.

I stopped them and asked them to slow down and treat her with courtesy and respect. Needless to say they became upset and left the room. Momma was there to give me, her primary caregiver, a break but I didn't get much of one. The staff didn't bathe her for days. The next time momma went for respite wasn't much better. And when she was admitted as a patient there they allowed her to get horribly constipated because they were giving her morphine for pain. She hadn't been getting morphine at home for pain and didn't need it as long as she was turned from side to side regularly. But instead they were allowing her to lay in the same position for hours and if she or I mentioned she was in pain, there solution was morphine. I finally demanded they take her off morphine and it wasn't much longer before they told me they could no longer keep her as a patient because she wasn't showing decline. Yet I could see decline in her lack of speech, inability to eat, lack of arm movement and not knowing who I was. I suppose if their patients don't show decline they dose them up good on morphine. I wouldn't recommend Hospice Ministries to anyone unless your loved one is days from death and there is no way to care for them at home. They don't understand Hospice or Ministry. They were also severely understaffed and have to use staffing services with personnel who completely lack compassion for your dying loved one or the family.
