Of course I had a lot of questions and some decisions to make to ensure I was making the right purchase. Thank you so much Steve and Goodspeed Cycles! You both were extremely knowledgeable and went out of your way and above and beyond to make this happen for me. I will be picking up my cycle in the next few weeks! This is wonderful and family-owned business and all the employees definitely take pride was my observation. Please know that sometimes there might a small wait while they are assisting other customers. It is definitely worth that wait so they can then provide you with the best experience with your purchase and they will certainly take the time to make sure you are making the best choice for your cycling needs! I hope to be able to make some of the weekly group neighborhood rides they do. Check out their website or call for more info!

I bought a number of accessories from him that I needed for my bikes (I have many!) I really love that they have an appointment system for bike repair. You don't have to leave your bike there hoping they will get to it within the next two weeks. I definitely recommend this bike shop.

SO....after picking a bike up at a Big box store, I customized it and took the Bike shaped object…read moreto the Local Bike Shoppe in the hopes of getting them to Fit the bike to me like I thought was their Forte along with checking my work on the Fenders and Rack...well after 3 days in the shop I came in and told one of the Mechanics that I was here to pick up my bike. He rolled it out and to the register we went where he ran my card and said thank you and another Gentleman opened the door...I never asked a question other than how is the bike and the Mechanic said "He Did not work on it". Now I may be off base here but I took my bike to a shop and when I came home I find that the Rear wheel is only hand Tightened on Both sides...the bike is still dirt and here where fresh grease smudges on parts of the frame. I asked them to take off a computer bracket and replace the Zip ties for screws on the Front fenders...I also asked them to True the wheels as I am not skilled enough to attempt that.....I fully admit that taking the Rear wheel off was an experience for me as I scratched the drive side bolt pretty Good....I was checking the bike over when I got home and found that the nut was still beat up and decided to check it and it was LOOSE....so I grab a wrench and attempt to fix it myself....Well I tighten one side and the darn thing will not turn...I loosen that and try the other side....same result...How am I to ride this?....when I pay money for a check of work I expect a GOOD job an at least an attempt to see if the all is Kosher....now I have a bike that looks alright but I am scared to ride it outside of a few blocks.... At the end of the day I cannot recommend this place even though I have seen it all the years of my life and to put out the door with a swipe of a card and no mention of who they are or an attempt at selling me anything is something I will not tolerate and think that they may be on the way of other businesses where easy money makes LAZY people....So keep my $50 dollars and know that I will write this again and again until I have no other places to. Be it for your benefit or not I will be heard....

I frequent the Prairie Duneland trail starting in Hobart because it is close to where I live…read more Trailblazers is located right where I start my walks on the path! Previously my mom had bought a bicycle here but I had never visited the store. Since I was in the need of a new bike, since my original bike was accidentally donated, I figured this was a great place to start after my mom had such a good experience. Social distancing measures are still under affect so when I stopped by only four customers were allowed in at a time. While I did have to wait a bit to be helped it was worth it for the customer service. When I mentioned what I was looking for the employee (who I believe was one of the owners) was very knowledgeable and pointed me in the right direction. Of course it is best to test drive a bike just like a car so I rode around the parking lot for a couple of laps while he explained how to shift gears and shared other information about the bike. I ended up trying two the second being the one I ended up buying! It rode similar to the first but has that retro look which I was sort of looking for. Overall the experience was amazing and I will definitely stop by again especially because I want to try one of their protein shakes.

I've had a hard time trying to frame this. I'll try this…read more I had to listen to a performative dood talk emanating from the floor worker to a customer about chain lubricant that went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on an on an on an on and on. And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on and on and on and on and on an on and on and on and on and on. It was a long time. I waited. And I waited some more. I did some serious waiting five feet away in a red sweater. No acknowledgment. No letting me know it might be a while. But that would've likely stopped the upselling I started to see. So I turned me and my bike around and left. It's hard for me to be on my feet that long. That's why I bike. Dood has a right to be into his subject matter. Usually shops want you to feel comfortable and respected as somewhat of a priority, even if you aren't being directly pitched at the moment... it just was not a good vibe. All doods working there when I was in. Way heavy on the dood vibe. Captive audience syndrome. Sigh. Dood has to do what a dood does. I avoid places like this. Going to the bike collective in Rogers Park instead next time.
