I honestly don't like giving one star ratings but I am truthful with my reviews and this one is no exception. I hired Lauren for a second time to pet sit for 5 days, 2 scheduled visits a day, mornings 9am-11am and evenings 6pm-9pm. Even with the instructions that were on the website she uses for communication and the notes that I left around the house, Lauren didn't follow any of these things. Her services were well below poor. She came at whatever time was convenient for her meaning my pets had to wait to be fed and let outside to relieve themselves well into the late afternoon and early morning hours between 12am-130am. I left instructions on cleaning my dogs paws off before letting her come back into the house so mud was tracked on the carpet. Lauren ignored this and even made a mess herself. There was evidence that she used our bathroom and muddy shoe prints on our rug. I'm guessing because she did not adhere to the routine and schedule I had in place and paid for, my pets were very stressed and had diarrhea, not only just in the litter box but on pillows as well. If Lauren had been coming to the house regularly, she would have seen this. Had she been doing her job that she charged me for, she would have noticed the mess and my pets being stressed out and could have contacted me. My pets veterinary information is on her website and I have probiotics at home. This could have easily been cleared up but she didn't do her job properly. Halfway through the 5 days, communication was scarce. I had to contact her to figure out what was going on. She finally gave me some wacky excuses about her phone being in a repair place due to it being broken. Even if that were true (which I don't think it is) she claims that you have to put all communications in her website just in case she can't make it to a scheduled visit, that way someone else has the information. If she had people working for her, she should have someone that can relay information to her clients. Despite there being cameras all over my house with time stamps, Lauren still choose to lie to me. I caught her in several lies like the one I just described. One day my neighbor contacted me to let me know that some packages were on my porch all day (delivered early in the morning) so they brought them into their home so nobody would steal them. I asked Lauren if she had noticed any packages on my porch that morning and she said she hadn't noticed anything but would check when she came during the evening visit. Had she actually come in the morning like she was supposed to, she would have seen it. The last day she was scheduled to come by the house, she kept texting me to ask me what time I would be home. She texted me several times asking me this and I know it was because she was trying to see if she could get away with coming to my house super late again. This was the first time that entire week that she constantly communicated with me in a timely manner. When we finally did get home we noticed litter boxes were not cleaned properly, dirt/mud on the floors, carpets, and rugs. Our dog was not fed properly. Our cats were sick and stressed. My house was a mess and I never leave it like that. Nobody should have to come home from vacation and have to vacuum and do laundry. I did try to communicate with Lauren about a refund but she did not contact me back. I knew I wasn't going to hear from her so I contacted my bank and had them reverse my charges and do an investigation. About three days later, Lauren contacted me through text and said she was on vacation and didn't have any cell service (which I think is another lie, I'm sure she took a couple of days to construct an excuse). By that time, the investigation had already begun and I knew that i would never deal with her again. Moral of the story is do not hire Lauren and her company to watch your pets. They may be neglected like mine were, the risk isn't worth it! read more

We have hired Lauren several times in the last 6+ years. I have four dogs and they love her. One of them is on medicine and she has always been able to provide them in a timely manner. At times, we have had to leave for weeks at a time and she always comes during her scheduled meetings to make sure my dogs are well taken care of. There was a time during Covid days where she was very short-staffed and we did have a couple of problems with visits, but they were quickly resolved once we had conversations. There has been a couple of times where one of our dogs managed to get out of his kennel and since I caught it through the cameras and texted her, she has headed to my place to solve the situation. Overall, I find Lauren very responsive and willing to follow instructions. We will continue hiring her. read more

A total scam. Lauren doesn't have a "team" its just her. Or no one, really. I hired this sitter in a pinch, based off positive reviews on Yelp. I had just moved to the area and had to leave on a business trip. Initially she came across organized and seemed to keep a tight schedule. My cats mean the world to me and are very spoiled. I had arranged care for a few days, my cats aren't fans of visitors and don't need much. They have an autofeeder (thankfully) and really just need water replenished and litter scooped. I also asked that she provide them with a special snack during her visit. Lauren was going to come once a day. About 48 hrs before my departure I still hadn't heard from Lauren about setting up the first visit where she would come to my house so we could meet and she could get the spare key. I tried contacting her and ultimately had to give her the code to my garage door as she couldn't make it. I should have known then what was to come. The first day I was gone, I had coordinated an afternoon visit. I had a lot of work to do and couldn't be on my phone until the early evening. As soon as I had the time I went to check for her update, no messages. It was early evening and already dark. I checked my outdoor cameras, nothing. Indoor cameras, nothing. I texted Lauren to see if she had made the visit, albeit knowing she couldn't have. She said she did not make the visit herself but sent one of her staff. Until this point she never had me believing someone else would be going to my house. Weird, ok. I asked if that person could contact me. After some back and forth she said she would contact them and get me an update. I knew all this was bs. If you forgot, say you forgot. I let her dig herself further into the lie before I came clean and told her about all the cameras in and out of the home. She still clung to the story that someone else had assured her they came into my home and checked on my cats. I told her if she (or her staff) could describe anything about the interior of the home or the appearance of the cats I would drop my demand for a refund. She couldn't. I eventually got my money back. No apology, no truth, no ethics. This woman is vile to prey on people when they are in dire need of help. In a way Im glad she never set foot on my property. read more

I don't even know if they're still in business. The website doesn't allow me to get a quote or booking dates. I tried calling and messaging and texting. Social medias are out dated. There's no communication whatsoever and no response back. I wouldn't waste my time- just go look elsewhere. read more

Super happy with Lauren and the services she provided while we were gone for a week! She cared for our two spoiled setters three times a day and corresponded/shared pictures with us after each visit which is huge for the peace of mind for crazy dog owners. She also watered plants and did some pool maintenance that was super helpful....it really helps when you return to live plants and a non-green pool!! Not to mention, it's great coming home and your pets being there in your home already....no waiting until the next day to go get them from the kennel and no stress from kennel life too! Lauren is the absolute best!! We had 4 pets, three of which were senior and had never been boarded or cared for outside of the house. We were so worried about leaving the pets the first time we went away and used Lauren's services, but we were so pleasantly surprised. We used her several times after having such an excellent experience. She really cares about your pets and understands how difficult it can be for pet parents to leave their babies. She sends a picture of each pet every time she comes by for a visit, which put me so at ease! On top of that my animals LOVED having her around. They were always so happy to have to come by! Lauren is very responsive as well and makes herself available whenever she is needed. I have moved out of San Antonio but I highly recommend her to ANYONE needing pet care. We've used HH several times with no problems, but I think they may be over booking and stretching their resources too thin. This last trip we took, they missed 4 visits and shorted us 4. No communication on the days they didn't show up for extended periods of time. On one day our animals went 15 hours without being let out or fed. We have cameras that recorded each time she came and went. When we approached her about the missed visits she denied it even though we have recorded evidence. Another friend of ours had the same experience. If there was better communication and accountability I wouldn't have left this review, but you can't make customers pay close to $500 in advance, not show up and neglect their animals, and then lie...very frustrating and disappointed. read more

For the first couple of visits things were fine and then I understand Covid hit. My last two vacations that I took, My four cats were left unfed for two days with no notification or anything from Lauren or her team! Totally unacceptable and it happen on back to back vacations. My family went out for a last minute weekend vacay and of course EVERY kennel in SA was booked so I stepped outside my comfort zone and went for a pet sitter ( I have an awesome friend/mentor that uses pet Sitters for her fur babies and always has wonderful reviews for pet sitter but she lives in another city) so I Yelp'd and found Homey Hounds (this was on a Thursday at 4pm)... Lauren is outstanding not only was she able to accommodate me and my PITBULL on short notice she was on her email/phone calls/ home visits all within a days time and ready to pet sit that very weekend!! I travel frequently for work and have used Lauren and her business for the past 2 years. She has been excellent, always available and very good with both of my dogs. I have a Boston Terrier and a Great Dane and both love her. She even went the extra mile one time that my Great Dane got suck while I was away. We are relatively new to the area, after moving down from northern NJ. Before we moved, I researched pet sitters and found Lauren. Based on reviews, we contacted her and set up a visit with her. Lauren was prompt and we reviewed information about our cats with her. My husband and I felt good about her caring for our kids. We were away for close to 3 weeks on a cruise. Lauren offered to email us daily but with limited internet, we told her not to. Everything was fine when we got home. She did offer to bring in the mail but we just had the postman hold it for us.
