I was intrigued by the presence of a vegan restaurant in Lisbon, but it seems like vegan and vegetarian restaurants are plentiful here. The menu is just as tiny as the restaurant. There are 2 main dishes and a few desserts and starters. I ordered the daily dish, which was called Brunch. It included vegan cheese on toast, vegan sausages, a slice of sun-dried tomato, roasted beets on top of potatoes, and oats with strawberries and bananas. Elements of the dish were both a hit and a miss. As a non-vegan, the individual components were very good attempts at replicating the real thing. First, the cheese had the right texture. It had a very light and subtle flavor that I enjoyed. The vegan sausages were too dry on the inside. The beets and potatoes were particularly good, but I'm a bit biased as I enjoy beets in general. The oats in soy milk was tasty. There was a subtle sweetness to it. Overall, the food was good and a good value for €13.

With no other customers at the time, we had a choice of tables to choose from. Once settled, I had to have me a bottle of good ol' Coca-Cola; it arrived in a bottle (just like Mexican Coke back in the States). A perfect thirst-quencher! I ordered a starter of fried "calamari" (like the previous night at another restaurant). (When I was not plant-based, if fried calamari was on a menu, that is what I'd always order; for me, it serves as a litmus test for what's to come. If they can perfect calamari, I know I'll be in for a good meal.) As it turned out, the dish was wholly decent, but just a tad bit less than the other night's appetizer; still good, though. For my main, I went for the unadventurous burger (which is Beyond Meat). It was good, but a bit too thick for my palate. (And, to be honest, aside from Burger King which serves its burgers thin, the thickness of this burger was a bit off-putting for me.) Still, though, it was a decent burger. (Jay had a starter of croquettes and the special "Tofu Wellington" -- tofu wrapped in a puff-pastry. Both looked good.) Arriving a little after opening, it got filled up quickly so do get here as soon as you're able, even on weekdays. They do a lunch set for €12 but I went for two of their Portuguese plates: their Fish with Tomato and Bean Rice (€10,90), and their take on Porto's famed Francesinha (€12,90). Why two meals for just one person? Because I needed to try both and new I was going to take home half of it for later. I am not kidding when I say that the food was absolutely delicious. Their fried fish was perfectly battered and crispy. The rice and beans accompanying the dish was chef's kiss and the side salad with house vinaigrette was most satisfying. Their take on the cheese sandwich with Kong sauce was also delectable, although I enjoyed the former more. Although I was full, I couldn't end my meal without trying their Snickers Tart (€4,90) which was out of this world - sweet, delectable, and so satisfying. One of the best vegan desserts I've had in a while and one I wish I was enjoying right now. My only regret was not coming here earlier in my trip to enjoy more of their Portuguese options.
