    Water for the table

This place is amazing, my daughter and I are both vegan and she found this on Happy Cow and wanted to try it. We made a reservation as it was recommended. It is a small place and was full so we were glad we did. The food was amazing, fun atmosphere and great service. I had the Happy Octopus, my daughter had the steak and my omnivore daughter had the tacos and loved them. My son and husband got the burger which looked ok, they liked it. Nice that they have plant based cheese and bacon for the burger. We shared the croquettes for an appetizer as well as the parfait and cheesecake for dessert. The cheesecake is one of the best things I have ever tasted. Lots of vegan options in Lisbon, but definitely check this out if you have non vegans in your group, they will not leave hungry. @eatveganwithjoan

Vegan Portuguese croquettes. Delicioso. This place is simply awesome. Love Portugal

One of the best Vegan Restaurants I have eaten in last 30 years. Delicious delicious appetizer and entrees never came across some of the before. The Portuguese Saudage croquettes is a 9/10. Loves it. Than we had the Happy Octupus. Fist time having such and it did not disappoint. It was tasty with nuances of the herbs thrown in and we could not put it down. Got the Seitsn steak as a takeout and guess what happened. We decide we are going to go back the next day. KONG SHOILD BE A PILGRIMAGE TO VEGAN AND VEGETARIANS. IT IS TRULY SUPERB. Pop

While meandering through the streets of Lisbon we ran across the restaurant Kong. It is pretty unassuming from the street, just a chalk board on the sidewalk alerted us to it's presence. Walking in from the street things changed pretty quickly. You are greeted by a giant Kong statue in the lobby. Take the stairs up to the right, passing an overlook into the kitchen. Once at the top of the stairs the dining area opens up into a fairly large space with several tables looking out windows to the street art covered building across the street. Here is where we were warmly greeted by a server and promptly seated. The same server that seated us was also our server. He was so nice and explained the menu in detail. They had a well rounded menu of typical Portuguese foods, but all vegan. I started with the croquettes and the daily special of Bife Wellington and a local brew of Musa Golden. The croquettes were nice, crunchy on the outside and a bit soft in the center with a great flavor. The Bife Wellington was a bit disappointing, but it was still very flavorful. I found the mushroom duxelle with spinach a bit light, the tofu too thick, and the bottom of the puff pastry was soggy, probably from the duxelles. I won't order it again, but I will definitely be back to try some of their menu items. While we were there, they had laid out their Christmas dishes out for a photo shoot and I can tell you that all the dishes looked amazing. I hope on my next trip I can changed my review from 4 stars to 5.

What an incredible incredible place. It was definitely our favorite food of the whole trip. The service was impeccable and the ambience was and fun. We ate there three times in one week. We love the food, we love the waiters, and we just loved the vibe in this place, the desserts are killer! For some reason, I must've eaten them too quickly to take a picture.

By now, we have visited the place more than three times, which means it is absolutely amazing. It offers a variety of dishes and everything is so yummy! We also loved their mango lassis served with a few cardamon seeds on top - this adds an amazing flavor to it! Also, extremely friendly staff! Thanks to them! We highly recommend the place!

Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

The codfish dumpling fusion was a pleasant surprise, creamy on the inside and a nice chewy gyoza wrapper. The octopus rice was good too. It's rotisserie chicken doused with a spicy hot sauce so what's not to like? I knew it was a Portuguese-originated dish, so I looked for a place famous for it. Here on a Sunday evening, there was quite a queue extending up the cobblestone alley, so I realized this must be the place. Although it was at least thirty people deep, it didn't take more than twenty minutes for Jamie W and me to secure a table upstairs. It was a homestyle dining room set-up that hovered between cozy and crowded depending on the fluctuating volume level. Interestingly all the servers were male, and while ours was the most junior, he consciously followed the behavior of his veteran brethren. There was no question about our main course, the 13,5€ Frango Assado No Espeto (Roast Chicken on the Spit) (Photo 7). It was tender and succulent enough albeit a bit under seasoned, all the more reason to pour a liberal dose of the piri piri sauce (Photo 8). Our sides were simple but shareable, the 3,2€ Batata Fritta (French Fries) (Photo 9) and the 4,3€ Salada Mista (Mixed Salad) (Photo 10). Both were fine, though we really wanted to try their Cream Spinach. They were already out of it in the kitchen. We were quite satisfied nonetheless, and their service pretty much worked like clockwork. Jamie and I agreed we'd definitely come back if the passion for poultry strikes us on a return trip to Lisbon. In the meanwhile, I'll just do a run to Costco, buy a rotisserie chicken, and dream of Portugal. He will talk to you for hours and teach you about food and wine and culture and talk about the history of food and how it came to be in Portugal. I loved it. I learned so much. I aspire, as an American, to learn from and look up to other cultures. I feel very honored to have dined in a restaurant managed by him on our trip to Portugal. I'm going to recommend to our travel coordinator to add this restaurant to the Google map recommendations list because more people need to go to this place - they need more tables, more space, because I'm convinced this is such a hidden gem that should be exposed to the masses to enjoy! We visited several wineries and this restaurant had the best wine - bar none! The fish, a fish I hadn't tried before, was deliciously seasoned, falls apart with the fork, the creamy rice was just divine. I normally will never eat little cherry/grape tomatoes - ever - but the perfect bite of fish, creamy rice, and a tomato was... perfection. The menu is deeply curated; flavors - textures - wines that make sense. You can tell Frederico what you normally like and he 100% knows what wines he has that you will love. The tomato, orange, ham, salad, was absolutely balanced and delicious. I'm so grateful that our first trip to Portugal we got to meet Frederico and dine with these wonderful people who love food and wine as much as us. I'll never forget it as long as I live.
