An actual blow torch and a pipe wrench were involved. It took 2 weeks and 6 visits for them to actually replace the water heater - during which time they also broke our entire home's heating system by destroying its pump. They offered to take 5% off of their initial quote for the trouble and told us we were robbing a man of money he needed for medicine if we asked for anything less. Longer version of events below: On a late night in early November, around 11pm, we discovered our water heater leaking. Being so late, very few plumbing services were available. Rescue Plumbing was the first to respond and sent someone fairly quickly. The plumber seemed unfamiliar with our water heater setup, which made us uneasy, but he stopped the leak and made arrangements to return the next day to replace the broken heater. The cost of the new heater was fairly high, so we enquired if there were any more cost effective alternatives and were emphatically told there were not. Several hours later, the plumber from the night before arrived, accompanied by a helper, and told us they would be done replacing our water heater in 2 hours. Finally, 7 hours after they began, the plumber came out and told us the water heater had been replaced and to come look. Unfortunately, we had to point out that several pipes were already leaking and the overflow valve was now dripping onto the floor and not into the drain. Our pipes had also been completely replaced without consulting us. We were informed this would be an extra cost. The plumber said he would get his helper and fix the issues. 10 minutes later, we heard two enormous bangs in the hallway where the water heater was located, followed by two men screaming. Opening the door to the hallway, we found the helper pinning our plumber to the ground by his neck, slamming his head into the concrete, and punching him in the face repeatedly as hard as he could. The plumber was yelling, "I have fire! I have a blowtorch!" Despite us yelling at the helper to stop, he continued until we said we were calling the police. After making sure the helper had left our property while he held a pipe wrench, the plumber then asked that we NOT call the police, because, "I know how to take care of him." He refused to give us the helper's name. Obviously, the police were called. Despite us insisting the plumber go home to rest after the police had left, he refused, and continued to work on the water heater. Not only was the water heater not working properly by the time he left, he had also improperly turned on our home's radiant heat pump, which is dependent on the water heater, breaking the pump beyond repair. I contacted the company the next day and was put in touch with a supervisor named Yousef. We told Yousef we felt awful for what happened to the plumber and hoped the helper had been fired, but we would prefer a different plumber from their company to finish the repairs. After the call, I began receiving text messages from the original plumber begging to come back to fix his mistakes, hinting he would be fired if we did not let him return. We did not want him fired and said he could come back to repair his mistakes. Long story short - he could not do the repairs and everything remained broken. For a week and a half after this, we were constantly in contact with Rescue Plumbing, attempting to not be aggressive or unreasonable, even as they repeatedly failed to fix what they had broken. Eventually, they sent a new plumber who not only pointed out how many things had been done wrong, but also that the original plumber hadn't even installed the most effective replacement water heater. We were assured we would be receiving a significant discount. After Rescue Plumbing brought in a third party company to double check that the repairs had finally been done correctly, Yousef let me know they would be offering me only a 5% discount on their original quote. I regretfully asked to speak to someone higher up, only to be told all higher ups were conveniently on vacation for several weeks. I was then told that the original plumber had ongoing medical issues unrelated to the assault, that any additional money taken off my quote would be garnished from his wages, and that I would be taking away money from his medical treatments. When I pressed Yousef on the issue, he said he would have to fire the first plumber to offset any further discounts. I then called the second plumber who had fixed the first plumber's mistakes. Plumber 2 called Yousef several unprofessional names and asked for me to now negotiate with him. We came to a lower sum, albeit still higher than was fair, simply because I was exhausted. The next day, they sent us a quote for $16K to install a better water heater

I have called them 5 times, and each time they either promise to get back to me, that they will stop by, or there's a "bigger project" they're working. Do NOT hire these people.
