Also, I was told that a brazilian is brutal and yes, I did a NC -17 rendition of the Steve Carrell waxing scene in the 40 year old virgin without even realizing. However, Carrie was so incredible and had such good humor about it and had some great tools to minimize pain and also to help with any possible ingrown hairs that after a few moments I was able to manage it so much better. This is the biggest difference with Carrie and all my other experiences getting waxed. With Carrie, I had about 0 ingrown hairs or redness but dealt with those issues when I went to other places even though I exfoliated and applied aloe/did the same post wax care I did for my first time. Honestly, I cannot believe I was such an idiot but because of where I was/ my situation I wasn't able to manage going to Carrie. But I will 100% make it work in the future because she's worth the effort. Don't make the same mistake I did! The bumps became deep, painful, and recurrent enough that I eventually had to see a dermatologist and receive medical treatment. I had purchased a package for Brazilian waxes, but stopped using the remaining services because the ingrown hairs and irritation were progressively getting worse after each appointment. I contacted the location several months ago and was refunded for the unused portion of the package, but not for the services that ultimately left me dealing with a painful skin condition, medical expenses, discomfort, stress, and scarring. I followed proper aftercare, tried their recommended products, stopped shaving/waxing, and used multiple methods to try to resolve the issue, but the condition continued. I understand that folliculitis and ingrown hairs can be a known risk of waxing and that reactions vary from person to person. However, I wish I had been better informed about the potential severity and persistence of these complications, especially for people with sensitive skin or those prone to ingrown hairs. I took advantage of her special Halloween deal pricing and booked the appointment by 31 October. But the unique upside with Lex was that she didn't charge more for men than women! I've seen some studios charge upwards of 33% more to wax a male...so that was what hooked me! I showed up yesterday and was immediately comfortable being around her and her nicely decorated studio suite (yes, images of cats are everywhere as one would expect. ) I've also been enjoying her crazy, clever, and humorous sales graphics/adverts on her website and Instagram sites as they are a real kick to read. Lex was just like an old friend that I'd known for years, I was THAT comfortable around her. In fact, I learned more about skin, skincare, and waxing from her in just this one appointment than all the research I've done over these many years...all while getting up the courage to pull the trigger on my first wax! Lex is a wealth of knowledge on the subject and offers a complete array of esthetic services and 'cosmeceuticals' for her clientele...besides just waxing.
