Here is my previous reviews, with some new additions.
Previous review:
For a General Store in a small town, the Honey Harbour Towne Centre is as good as it gets! This is one of the best small town general stores that I have ever seen, and is well stocked with everything that you are likely to need. They had fresh produce, a deli counter and even a small butcher counter too. The staff was friendly and helpful on both of my visits, even helping me carry the ice blocks and bags of wood to my vehicle. They also have "Fresh Trained Worms", if you are into fishing. I am not sure what the worms are trained to do, but you can get them here. It's a scenic 15 minute drive from Six Mile Lake Provincial Park if you happen to be camping.
New Additions: Should I become a Worm Trainer? How has this excellent store coped with the Novel Corona Virus? (2019-2020 edition)
I have since learned that the worms aren't trained to do anything fun or cute, or even taught techniques to make them more attractive to the fish. In fact, it is just rather gruesome ... they are basically pre-hooked for you, so when you put them on the hook, they will slide on really nicely. At least, that's what I've heard around Honey Harbour. Although fresh trained worms are probably very useful, I don't think that I could bring myself to be a worm trainer. But if you want worms for fishing, you can get trained ones here.
Anyway, back to the store, even during Corona times, it was as great, clean, well-stocked and friendly as ever. A kind worker by the door sprayed hand-sanitizer and offered masks to all who were not wearing them. They still sell their own excellent, home-made kimchi. They still have a butcher counter. They still have local curiosities to buy, and most of the amenables that you could want.
Plus, the drive there is very scenic.
This is a very well done country store! read more
