My partner and I had placed a deposit with Jeff Cagle to hunt for mule deer. After very poor service, we had requested that he return our deposit. We have left several telephone calls to Mr. Cagle and he has yet to return or telephone calls and he has refused to cooperate and refund our money. He is a horrible business man and a rip off artist. We are in the processing of filing complaints against him and his company for fraud. We will contact the State of California Guide license division, the Susanville Chamber of Commerce, the State of California, NRA, Ducks unlimited, CWA, etc. and more In reading all of the yelp reviews, it is very clear that there are many customers who have had bad experiences with Jeff and his company. Please see the comments, the majority have experienced he same horrible service. Jeff needs to close the doors. The fact the owner replies after 2 years from posting tells you how great his business is. I will post the cancelled check, not a $3000 refund. I was warned but I did not listen. Thank the lord I found a sober guide in the area and bagged a beast. If you hunt with Honey Lake his vehicle is wrapped in advertisements , so all the local hunters can follow you when you scout or hunt. Stiffed me on hotel charges, Nevada hunt claim is a fiction, made up by owner. For a reputable and honest assessment of guides, CALL Ca. Dept of Fish and Game. ( Oh yeah, guide stayed at home in town and left hunters in storm. Live snd learn, I may have called twice a week, NOT one return call!! Owner was rude and condescending . Ordered a pin for a Ruger 10/22, told it will be there in a week. two weeks go by so i go back in. He didn't even remember me or my order. Mind you I could have got the part for cheaper and faster offline , but i wanted to build a relationship with a small business for years to come. Stupid me I give him yet another chance . Low and behold he tells me at the end of the week for sure. i come in on that Friday ...... Nothing. No part. No apology . Just more horrible customer service. Finally he stops talking with his friend and looks at me and says "I'll call you when my gunsmith comes by". its now been a year. No call . No pin. Six months ago, in June 2017, my father who was dying of cancer took around 13 firearms to Honey Lake Firearms to put on consignment. As a customer of Jeff's and a former gun dealer himself, he believed that safest and easiest way to handle his firearms upon his death was to have a licensed dealer sell them and pay the proceeds to his trust. The value of these firearms is approximately $3,000 to $4,000. To my knowledge, Jeff did not contact my father with updates on the firearms while my father was still living. After my father died in September of 2017, I, as his executor, contacted Honey Lake Firearms requesting the status of the firearms, receipts, and payments. Over the past four months, I have called multiple times, emailed, and sent a certified letter complete with a spreadsheet of the firearms to be accounted for. I have done everything I can think of to make it easy for Jeff to provide me with the information. I believe that as long as he has kept the records he is required to by law as a licensed gun dealer, that collecting the records, making copies of receipts, and mailing me the information and payment should take only a short time. I have checked the page of his website that lists items that are on consignment, and they do not match my father's firearms. It would appear that Jeff has sold my father's guns and is reluctant to remit payment. Michelle has been very sweet over the phone and assures me that she has passed along my messages to Jeff, but does excuse him as "being very busy because he is doing guided hunts". I happen to be very busy as well; however, I am doing my best to fulfill my obligation as my father's legal representative, and have had to put more hours into compiling information, making phone calls, and drafting letters than it will take Jeff to gather the records and mail them to me along with the payments. I would really like the opportunity to trust in Jeff's professional integrity, honesty, and hard work to do a thorough job for his customers just as my father trusted in it. I truly hope that I am not forced to obtain legal aid in an effort to help Jeff fulfill his contract with my father. read more

We have to give a great review to Honey Lake Firearms as the owner, Jeff, came in on his day off when we were in a bind. We had to pick up a firearm, but were scheduled to leave for Southern California the day after the handgun was ready for pick up, not realizing it was a holiday weekend. at the end of June beginning of July i started to build ar10 308 and needed a gun smith to do some work on my stainless fluted 24" barrel, so i looked around a bit and found honey lake firearms and they were close. I'm thinking no biggeee right WRONG.i dropped the barrel off it was then when they gave me a claim ticket for my barrel it was then when i found out that their gunsmith would give me a call to talk about what needed to be done to the barrel i gave it a little time, a few days and called them back same story the gunsmith will call you. that never happened .at the time i had problems getting around (truck) anyway after calling several times, 2 mos down the road and I still had not heard from this wanna be gunsmith or any responsible person there to tell me anything ?????????? there are no responsible anything that works there. oh the gunsmith finally i got to talk to he said he emailed me i never gave him them my email..lier lier lier they suck and they scratched it to.
