Very limited stock on lead free bullets. I have been there 6-7 times in last 3 months and there supply hasn't gotten any better. This includes reloading bullets. Who ever orders doesn't realize that all of California hunting is with nontoxic bullets. They need to do better. I recommend yuba city. read more

Large store with a good selection. Sportsman's Warehouse, in my opinion, is a discount Cabela's. They cater to the north valley outdoor enthusiast: hunting, fishing, shooting, camping, barbecuing, you'll find your items here. This store is fairly new and is located within North Valley Plaza in the building once occupied by Mervyn's. The plaza has a lot of free parking and is easy to access from both the Cohasset Road and East Avenue freeway exits. I enjoy coming here to stock up on pellets for my Traeger grill. Easily the lowest price in town here. There is always a good selection and a wide assortment of options. They seem to have sales often as well which makes shopping here all the more enticing. The staff have always been friendly and helpful, too. You won't get a true Cabela's experience here, but definitely come if you are in need of outdoor gear at a good price. read more

For Firearm customers: Since these new laws have come into effect (7/1/2019), the customer service in the gun department has gone downhill in a big way. Of course I am aware they have no control of the new regulations and are merely "just doing their job," when enforcing them. THAT WOULD BE FINE. However, because a bunch of other customers (who are not me) have been yelling at the employees or treating them badly over the past two weeks, some of them took their frustrations out on me. Tim, the employee who helped me, was extremely slow the whole time and not apologetic about it. He was very agitated and annoyed at any questions I had. I had all of the correct information needed to make the purchase. Still, I was treated as if I was one of the rude customers. Also, several other employees were complaining about these types of customers while I was there trying to make the purchase. They were using profanity and visibly showing there anger. It doesn't bother me too much because I'm a guy but it's a family store too. Just seems wrong to me. I also dont know why it takes them so long to do things. I told Tim I would buy the firearm and showed him the documents within two minutes of meeting with him. I filled out the background info which maybe takes five minutes and then I paid for it which might take two minutes. But I was there for an hour and a half. How is that possible? I am very reluctant to pick up my firearm when my waiting period is up because I have no idea how I'll be treated. Especially when you spend several hundred dollars on something and you're treated like dirt. There are a few guys behind the gun counter who have literally the best customer service so it's truly shocking how some others can ruin this place of business. All around customer service is sub par here. I gave this place 3 tries before writing a review, and let's just say third time was NOT a charm. Only one or two of the men behind the gun counter are passionate and knowledgeable about the guns, while the rest try to pass off a gun without knowing basic specs about it. Girl behind the customer service counter was rude and snappy. Name started with a k. Then I wanted to buy a flashlight. I gave the hefty man my budget , and he had a belittling attitude cause I did not want to spend more than intended. His exact words were these are nice, but they are out of your price range. I came in for work shoes and was never waited on, yet the lady with the long brown hair, who was working the shoe department, was helping those around me. I was standing there with the shoe in my hand, that I wanted to try on. After she was done helping a customer, the lady just walked right by me and walked right outside! Went in this morning excited to purchase my very first fire arm. Stood inline for 45 min patiently. Finally was called up and was greeted if that, by some employee with a seahawks hat who seemed to be in such a hurry. He was RUDE! I asked to see a particle fire arm, as he walked over to grab it i noticed he was shacking is head, i felt very discouraged. I shared with him what i was getting into for the first time and rudely i was shut down " you don't want to use this!" and immediately turned around and placed it back on the shelf. Not even a suggestion was given. He was moving so fast, talked very fast i couldn't get a word out to explain what i wanted to do. He was not helpful, rude, i felt rushed. I only use their fishing and camping departments and I have never been let down. The staff is extremely knowledgeable on their product and tips for better fishing.. The older gentleman that runs the fishing dept. is extremely knowledgeable and the younger staff taught me how to use my new fish finder.. these guys are great! read more

Great place to find outdoor stuff. I found so many things I was interested to fishing to hunting. It does not beat bass pro shop though because they have everything. The guns were really expensive for being out dated. The sales associates are not enthusiastic to help a customer try and find what their looking for. They look dead and dried out!! The only smile I got was from the gentleman who was in the guns department. As we walked in not a hello or hey guys welcome we got nothing at all. There was a young girl just standing around talking to this elder woman I would give it maybe a 2 but not for the workers you guys need some workers who are energetic and ready to make sales. The 1-star is essentially for the worst customer service I have had in a long time. I didn't get mad or raise my voice, but the cashier got incredibly defensive, raised their voice and would not help me find a reasonable solution. Went in to Sportsman's Warehouse in Chico tonight around 645pm. There were about a dozen shoppers inside the store not wearing masks. I went up front to customer service and mentioned that most people were not wearing masks in their store and the customer service employee said Sportsman's Warehouse policy does not require shoppers to wear masks and they will not refuse service to anyone. It really concerns me with a policy like that, if they even sanitize. Needless to say, if this company doesn't respect their customers, why should I continue shop there? read more

Purchased online some lead shot. Went to local store to pick it up. Staff was very very slow and somewhat indifferent to me. Got tired of waiting for a "can I help you" or "are you waiting for something" and left after 25 minutes of waiting. There was an error with a shotgun I purchased and everyone there were polite and helped me out smoothly. John made sure to keep in contact and update me on the situation. I really love Sportsmans warehouse and I spend a lot of money there. I really like all of the employees who are very nice and helpful, a very small town feel. The other day I went in to pick up a shotgun I bought. 2 of the employees were wearing their masks on their chin. When 1 approached me I mentioned the mask thing and he immediately apologized and put in on correctly. As I looked around I saw 10 people that weren't wearing masks and a few with their nose out. I felt very uncomfortable. I firmly believe in the 2nd amendment but value education and maturity. I think it is unthinkable that there is no mask policy. This is a prime example of why the US has the worst infection rate in the entire world. The managers should be fired for their lack of responsibility. I spend thousands at this store, but will have to rethink about my safety. read more

I really like Sportsman's I think they offer a great variety of some really awesome stuff... but I don't like the way that the employees treat the customers for the most part. I know people who have also told me that they had similar experience when they visited Sportsman's Warehouse and from what I hear and based on my own experiences-it's not so good. they treat everybody like they are there with bad intentions and to be honest to make you feel like you're a piece of shit or something ... they follow you around staring at you acting like you're going to steal something and it's very rude. I do not steal- never have- never will. I do not like to be treated as if I'm a thief. I think they need to be a little more trusting of their customers and they will find customers to be more loyal and but more stuff because they feel comfortable. read more

Gun department needs some serious lessons in customer service. Yesterday when I went in after the 10 day waiting period I waited over an hour being passed off from one person to the next and was ultimately ignored while other customers were helped. In frustration I finally left the store without the gun. I received a call an hour later asking me to please come back for the gun which I did but still no apology for the wait. I understand that buying a gun is laborious in Calif. and there are multiple steps. I get that. But guys, communicate with the customer instead of walking away to service other customers and leaving me with no explanation on who or what is next. At least acknowledge that I am there. In the last 4-5 years that I have been going to the Chico location there have not been many employees I feel have offered exemplary customer support, except Rick. That man is one of the nicest, most helpful, and genuine employees I have ever come across! It's not often when I ask a question that he doesn't know the answer to, but on the off chance he doesn't know, he'll find someone that does. He is very well informed on what is in-stock, where to find it and if there are any deals going on. I get a feeling from most of the employees that it is quite literally just a job and that they don't put any effort into making the customer feel satisfied when they leave. With Rick I leave with a smile and a sense that he did everything he could to make my experience the best that it could be. I look forward to buying anything firearm related knowing that he'll be there to help me out. I was visiting family, and heard good raves about this store. I was wanting to buy hunting gear, and was very disappointed in the service here!! I guess being a latino, means that I need to be discriminated against! I was looking at the guns, for almost 30 minutes and was ignored! The guy behind the counter, didn't even bother to ask if I needed help. A man, that came up to the counter after me, told the guy that I was there before him. The man told him that I wasn't, and the man told him, yes he was and the guy walked past me and asked another man on the other side of me if he needed help. That man also told him that I was there first, and then he asked me if I needed help but my family came and I just left. read more
