I've been to Honey about 5 times in the last couple of months. Considering I don't eat out much at all, that's really saying something! The food is like....art for your mouth. That said, it's not pretentious at all. Just delicious, simple ingredients paired artfully to give your taste buds a big old party. : ) The ambience and service are always amazing. If it were feasible, I would gladly give up eating all food during the week for one night out at Honey. I love food, so again, that's saying something! But the food at Honey is so good, it makes even my old favorites at home pale in comparison. This is a dining experience--not just your average dinner out! My one, and only, tiny complaint is that during my last two visits, the different plates came out too quickly for my liking. It's probably more of a personal preference thing. When a plate first comes out, I'm completely consumed with the deliciousness and complexity of flavor. By the time I'm mentally able to have a conversation with my date....another amazing dish is delivered. lol I think my last companion and I spoke all of 5 sentences during dinner the last time we were there. Had dinner here & really liked it. Very unique menu. Cute intimate restaurant , great for a romantic night out. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet and decided to try several items on their menu. My second visit and my fiance's first... We started off with the Edamame Hummus (good) and Lamb Melt (think lamb Reuben - great). Next were the Risotto cakes (good) and Foie Gras Sliders (highly recommended by a close friend - not terrible, but not to our liking). Then came their signature seven year long item, the Black Tea Glazed Spare Ribs (Amazing. So good, next time we will each get an order). We finished off the meal with the Callebaut Chocolate Trio (great) and Mint Hot Chocolate (great). Went there last night for my birthday, and it was amazing. They started us off with some homemade smoked potato chips drizzled with truffle oil and a sample of toast topped with tapenade (on the house) - both excellent. We then ordered duck samosas, B.e.L.t. (pork belly with quail egg yolk), catfish banh mi and fried oxtail dumplings. All had a hint of their respective authentic flavors without being overpowering. Our favorite was the B.e.l.t - because well... pork belly and egg yolk is a ridiculously good combination. The drinks (white sangria and a vodka citrus drink) were fine. Amazing selections of tapas style portions. We had duck, black tea spare ribs, oysters, halloumi cheese and paired it with a Malbec wine. We were given, compliments of the chef some appetizers which was home made potato chips with a cheese and seasoning and some popcorn that was spiced. While these may seem odd, they were delicious and went perfect to pick at between courses. We finished off with a few espressos that were perfect and a "burnt coffee" dessert, that was a coffee mocha Creme brûlée ... Sinful! But amazing. Our waiter Jason was polite and courteous, checked in with us to see if we needed anything. Had a thorough knowledge of the menu, the ingredients and preparation of every dish. It almost seems incredible that such a gem exists in Doylestown. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good restaurants in the area, but Honey is the type of place you'd expect in a more metropolitan area. The food here is a fresh twist on American dining. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is good, and the food and drinks are both delicious and innovative; some bold flavors combined in unusual ways (for example the boar and escargot skewers or getting spare ribs served with spicy ginger ice cream). The plates are on the small side (tapas style) so be prepared to order at least 3 - 5 plates. While the restaurant is not on the cheap side, it's well worth the price of admission. This is a great place to go for a special occasion or just to enjoy a great dining experience. Definitely make a reservation beforehand. While the menu changes seasonally, if it's on the menu, I would recommend the foie gras sliders which will melt in your mouth, the duck samossas, and the spare ribs with ginger ice cream... if you're a drinker, I'd also recommend the habanero martini. read more

My favorite restaurant in bucks county. They have a very creative and inventive menu that does an adept job at mixing flavors and textures. The service and ambiance are also top notch. The food is more like tapas portions and you generally need 2-3 plates per person. They also generally tend to offer a few free courses and everything has truffle on it, much to my wife's delight. When we went we had the following: truffle potato chips, grilled halloumi, fried oysters, wagging oxtail dumplings and the spare ribs. The potato chips were excellent. There were only 5 but they were packed with flavor and had a nice balance of bechamel and truffle. Grilled halloumi is always amazing and hard to mess up, and this fit the bill. Coming from Maryland, I have very discerning tastes when it comes to fried oysters. I can honestly say these were some of the best I've ever had. The fried coating was deliciously crunchy and the interior was hot, smooth and perfectly cooked. There was no chew from over cooking. The remounted sauce was a perfect compliment. The oxtail dumplings had a great flavor although they were probably a tad overlooked. Finally, the spare ribs. Words can't describe them. Or the ginger ice cream. If I were to commit suicide it would be from a heart attack induced by eating a trunkful of these. Everyone must try them. This is probably the best restaurant outside of Philly and I would highly recommend it to anyone. It is pricy so I would consider this a special occasion restaurant. read more

My experience at Honey was not up to par for a handful of reasons. I can speak more to the experience than the food, since the menu isn't always the same. It began with an error on my husband's part. When he called to place a reservation, he failed to mention that it was our wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, we were seated in the center area, where there were families with children eating. I asked if we could be moved to the (empty) private table. We were told that that table was unavailable. I mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and the hostess said she would, "see what she could do." She did end up moving us. Amazing how it magically became available. Anyhow.. We ordered a variety of things-- chips, wagyu beef cheek potato skins, seafood shells, and bread and butter. The chips were divine. Very flavorful and crisp. The potato skins, while not my favorite, were my husband's dream come true. The seafood shells were subpar. Very fishy flavor (which I totally understand is the intention), but it ended up tasting more like tuna casserole. The delicious seafood additions could not properly shine through. The bread and butter had a topping (veggie.. fruit.. root???) that my husband refused to it. It did leave a bit of a weird aftertaste. We noticed the table behind us kept getting "complimentary" items. We got one... A bite of bread with some spread on top. We ended up ordering a dessert and two cappuccinos. The dessert was good.. chocolate hazelnut something. The cappuccinos were terrible. I left mine untouched and my husband tried to slug his down. After spending well over $100, we hit up McDonald's and Starbucks. We needed to fill our bellies and get our caffeine fix. Unique experience? Sure. Worth a second trip? Unfortunately not. read more

Honey is an experience I look forward to any time I'm near Doylestown. Happy to say the experience was just as good as the first time. We started with Truffle Chips (awesome!) and "bread + butter." I will say the bread + butter was disappointing - I was looking forward to a thick delicious farm bread with salt and butter - but, this time it was a simple slice of French-style bread (the dressing was delicious though). Then on to the halloumi and kale salad. Hard to choose which was better! I love the balance of saltiness in the halloumi with sweet figs, so good! The lobster cakes and "fire + ice" (a crab and sorbet concoction) both compete for 1st place in the seafood front - I think the cakes may win by a small margin. The novelty of a spicy sorbet in the crab was awesome though! Maybe it wins... but, not over the blackened green beans (so, so delicious) and, finally, the black tea ribs - definitely the highlight. Served with a bit of sweet sorbet and pine nuts (I know it sounds odd)... just indescribably good. Great drinks, excellent service and desserts too (I loved the goat cheese panna cotta, but my wife chose the chocolate meltdown hands-down - and both were exquisite). I am an infrequent regular at Honey, having dined there since just after their opening 9 years ago. When our friends, who took my wife and me out to celebrate a very special birthday, tasked where I wanted to go, I picked Honey over all of the marvelous restaurant options in the Greater Philadelphia area. Now bear in mind that we just got back from Italy, not a slouchy country when it comes to great food but not any better than Honey. How lucky we are to have 3 star Michelin food in Doylestown. Philadelphia Magazine food critiques seem to forget about Honey, but I will not. I willbe going more often. By the way, try the duck, soft shell sliders, salmon tacos or just about anything else on the menu. My birthday candle was on a decadent triple chocolate cake. Yummy! read more

I honestly think this is the best restaurant in Doylestown food wise. It's definitely hard to compare because its all tapas style and some people do not enjoy that as opposed to one large plate, but I was blown away by everything I had to eat here. Here are some Dos and Don'ts for Honey: Don't expect a large wine or beer list, while the food is outstanding the drink lists are pretty short and lacking. There are some good options but not many. Do come for a special occasion - the atmosphere is cozy and romantic and the service is always attentive and friendly. Do come ready to share - again it's tapas style and the plates are small, they recommend 2 plates per person at the table. The food is amazing and you're going to want to try as many dishes as you can. Do come hungry - Though the plates aren't large you want to try as much as you can, and some of the food is pretty heavy. Don't skip the B.E.L.T. the duck samosas, the red salad, the foie sliders or the ribs. Honestly everything I have had has been amazing and complex. Don't expect it to be quiet - its small and it can get loud Don't skimp the week before, though its not exactly cheap, you'll pay what you would at most other restaurants in the area if not less. Its easy to overlook this tiny restaurant but come here and try all you can fit in your stomach, you will not be disappointed. read more

My husband and I went to Honey for our 2 year anniversary. We had a great time and a great meal. We usually trek into the city for a nice meal, but wanted to stay close to home. I love small plate restaurants (Amada and Valanni are our other favorites) and Honey is right up there with them! Our server, Jason, was one of the best we have ever had. I can honesty say I never remember a servers name... He was really attentive without being over bearing. He was helpful and knew every item on the menu. We had a few extras, a nice smoked cheddar on baguette to start, a dish of Truffle & Smoke Potato Chips as a welcome gift, and a small ice cream dessert for our anniversary. I had wanted to order a full dessert but as a new mom we had to get home to the little guy ;) I really enjoyed all of our main dishes, each one was better then the next. I know the menu always changes but this is what we ordered: Duck Samosas Black Tea Glazed Spare Ribs Grilled Spanish Octopus and Oxtail Dumplings Looking forward to our next trip out to Honey. I had my first visit to Honey on Saturday, and was impressed immediately upon entering. My beautiful partner and I were greeted right away, and I found the ambiance warm, comfortable and romantic. Monday night, 3 year anniversary of knowing each other- 6 months before our wedding. Great atmosphere upon entering. Chris, our server was extremely helpful and explained each dish to us- which really brought some insight into what we were eating. He even put the chips on the house for us! Unbelievable server! We ordered the bElt to start- which was delightful. Nice mixture of carbs, greens and saltiness in the pork belly. The "on the house" chips came next- simple and superb. We then drove into the catfish, which added a nice spice to our evening. The evening was then rounded out with the black tea ribs (fall off the bone delicious) and the buffalo buffalo special- so good. We topped off the night with the Take 6 and Coffee dessert- which were unique, upscale and tasty. In all it was delightful and different evening that we truly enjoyed. read more
