The entire staff we encountered were very, "VERY" professional, polite, and friendly. From check-in to check-out- the staff could not be more helpful and kind. The restaurant was ABSOLUTELY fabulous! We were terribly impressed with the dining options. The dinners included Octopus; Steamed Clams; Schintzel- all of these were exquisite...even the garlic bread included with the clams was perfectly toasted. This inn was built in 1751, so obviously it's very quaint and charming. However, there are a few areas that need a wisp of improvement. We stayed in Room 207. There were few electrical outlets and they didn't always cooperate. It wasn't until almost last day of our visit that we figured out the light switch (next to the door) needs to be up for that outlet to work. This room sits above the bar and dining area so we could hear the noises and music below. Since it is close to the street, the morning traffic noise from cars and large trucks is clearly heard. read more

We have been coming here for years and just wanted to take a moment to shout out about Matt, the owner, who literally is one of the nicest people I have met with some much passion for the Plumsteadville Inn He is always on site making sure everything is running smoothly. Their buffet at their spotzcomdey improv night is a complete rip off. The ticket is $80 a person (cash bar) and they had the nerve to serve tacos. Are you kidding me! TACOS!! Not even a good sampling. Who charges this kind of money for food that belongs at a middle school awards buffet. I expected a buffet of standard fair of chicken, Parm and salmon with roasted potatoes and pasta green beans etc and would've been a little disappointed if it was that. Oh how I longed for that buffet. The improv show was about what I expected: mediocre at best. It lasted about an hour but felt like 3 hours. There was nothing the performers could have done to make up for this con job of a meal short of rolling out Nate Bartgatze but I don't think he plays 5 table rooms. A room that was not much bigger than an average living room. I've been to The Plumstead many times and I have many good meals there and they have a good breakfast buffet so I was very surprised at how disappointing this was. To say I feel ripped off is an understatement. I hope my review will help people avoid this kind of slop in the future. We have visited the Plumsteadville many times in the last 35 years. It is a nice place to sit down in the bar area at a booth and have a drink and a meal. Busy place. Many customers regularly go here. Food servings are generous. The prime rib sandwich is my favorite. The pot pie is not far behind. Friendly staff. This place is a staple for me and my family. I love visiting home and going to the Pl Inn. I went last night (a Saturday night) by myself and sat at the bar. I ordered a nice glass of Cabernet and let the extremely kind bartender tell me the specials. I decided to order their fresh crab dip + bread as my appetizer from the specials for the night. I was thrilled this didn't taste fishy at all and actually very fresh. For my entree I pick from their 'Tavern Favorites' and ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. My jaw dropped when this plate came out. The schnitzel took up 3/4 of the plate and was covered in a mushroom, white wine sauce with capers. It was absolutely delicious!! The place was pretty popping and was decorated for the holiday season with live music in the middle of the bar/seating area. I had an incredible experience, with the food being most of the reason why but also the staff (specifically bartenders) were super accommodating and kept my lonesome self company! 10/10 experience read more

Two times we had to leave because there was no seating that was eligible for happy hour... it's bizarre that they don't offer people in the same place food and drinks at the same price at the same hours when they are sitting feet from each other. Edit to as a response: this was the second chance... I just think it's really weird that if you sit at the bar or if you sit at the booth you get one price but if you sit 10 feet away you get a different price. The level of service is the same and it's an open room... not worth chancing coming back Honestly, your response sounds incredibly generic and insincere... like it's for other people to see and not so much for me. read more

Well done family night out!! After enjoying my nephew's star play performance!, our family decided on an early dinner at Plumsteadville Inn. It was 4pm and crowded, but what a roomy place. Big bar area! We were seated prompted as a table of 8. Our servers were attentive and friendly. All food was well done and everyone had lots of compliments. Especially my husband to find that they offered prime rib. Highlight was the spinach-artichoke dip. Fresh, cheesy, very good! Solid food and atmosphere in Pipersville. Met my brother and sister in law here for dinner on our way home from the Poconos. Such a beautiful quaint restaurant. So much history here. Our meals were delicious and wonderful sized portions. I had a fish special it was awesome!! My husband had the chicken pot pie and enjoyed it. My brother had steak and my SIL had the chicken salad pita. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The food is wonderful! Each table has its own little tv which I had never seen before. Such a a touch especially for sports. lol. I have a bridal shower here in April and I am so excited to go back. Really blessed to live so close to such a perfect dining establishment. Food, staff, ambiance, management... all perfect in every way. Your meal comes out quickly and piping hot no matter how busy they are! Menu changes seasonally, nightly specials, and tons of special events like Lobster Fest and all-you-can eat crab legs. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a bite and a drink. Bartenders are absolutely fantastic - every one of them (in no particular order) - Janel, Paul, Carol, Deanne, Alexa, Dylan... and bar backs Aiden and Mason (special shout out to Mason for his mad omelette and crepe skills every Sunday Brunch)... We normally sit at the bar, so we've only had the pleasure of being served by the wait staff a few times, and they too are all lovely and friendly. Management team is also super friendly and engaging - right up to the owner. The real prize here is the quality of the food they serve. Always delicious, always fresh. I'd recommend the Jaeger Schnitzel, the chicken parm is lovely, French Dip is massive and full of flavor, chicken pot pie is super flavorful and really nicely seasoned, and perhaps my favorite is the amazing pork chop.... Great food, nice atmosphere with the huge fireplace and great service. Waitress was very attentive. We were there a few weeks ago( during the snowstorm) and everything was as we remembered. Stopped late evening for a place to stay. I was told the walk-in room rate would be the same as "online" with Booking.com. Well, the next day, they charged me $30 more, and would not credit me. BTW, the 'home made' meatloaf dinner was not worth finishing, and I was hungry. Will drive past this place next time. A shame, seems like a nice place, just poorly managed. After receiving a "canned response" from the owner, I realize this business is very hard to keep all people "happy". I will still drive past this establishment, since the "manager " did not perform his duties to resolve the situation. Again, Management is key, This is my advice to the owner at no charge. read more

Charming hotel and inn. Historic for sure. We didn't dine there this trip but have in the past and food and service, ambiance and prices all good. As for the hotel rooms, some of the rooms shouldn't be rented out. Amenities lacking and repairs dont seem to be a priority. I'm not sure the electric is up to code. No shelf or outlet in the bathroom. Old and charming is great but the rooms need updating big time. Rust in the bathrooms, shower curtain keeps falling down, closet door off the hinges, ceiling fan dirty. furniture can be found in a thrift store as well as the pictures adorning the walls. TV remotes......complicated. Keep the history and charm but please update your rooms. 317 is definitely not ready to be rented out. Have stayed in that room twice and nothing has been changed. read more

Something has clearly changed here, and unfortunately not for the better. My wife and I have been coming to the Plumsteadville location regularly for over five years, but over the past year--especially the last six months--the food quality has declined significantly. Desserts have been especially disappointing. The chocolate cake was dry and chalky, the apple strudel was cold, dried out, and unappetizing, and the switch from apple cobbler to peach cobbler makes no sense and feels like a downgrade. On New Year's Eve, my prime rib was served lukewarm, and the baked potato lacked freshness. Even the live band that night was disappointing--overly loud, disorganized, and not engaging. No one was dancing, and the atmosphere felt off. If this were just one bad experience, I would write it off. However, several friends I've spoken with--four or five people--have noticed the same decline in food quality, which suggests a larger issue, whether it's changes in management, kitchen staff, or ingredients. This review is not about receiving a free meal or a gift certificate. We truly like this place and want to continue coming back. I hope management takes a serious look at the menu, dessert offerings, and overall food quality and makes the necessary improvements. Thank you for taking the time to read this. My wife and I enjoyed a good meal and a magic show. We have eaten many times at the Plumsteadville Inn but never attended an event. The food was vet good. Salad, chicken parmigiana, lasagna., vodka pasta, green beens and assorted cookies for dessert. The show was upstairs in lovely room. I have not been upstairs and found it to be a comfortable setting. The magic act lasted an hour and the magician was good. There is a cash bar upstairs used for this type of event. The Plumsteadville is historic. I am not sure how old it is. It always has a crowd. Large selection of foods to eat. Large parking area. It was totally full tonight. Take credit cards. My family visited the Plumsteadville Inn six months ago after our grandson's soccer game. Our server was Jenna D. Saturday, we again decided to visit the Inn for a late lunch after watching another soccer game. I am happy to report that the meal and our server were fantastic! We ordered, at the suggestion of Jenna, the prime pork chop and jaeger schnitzel. I can't say enough about the meal and the service. The Inn is nicely run by Matt George. We stayed at the Inn this past Saturday. The staff is very friendly. They help with your luggage and won't even accept a tip. The rooms are clean. Private do it yourself parking. On the main floor, lunch, dinner & Sunday brunch are served. Beautiful display of buffet. Possibly the best in the area. One doesn't have to stay there to eat at the Inn. Sunday Brunch is $24pp. If you stay at the Inn it's $19pp. Rooms are reasonable rates. There are no elevators, so the physically challenged would have to opt the 1st floor. Also on the 3rd floor our bathroom did not have an electrical outlet. Kinda inconvenient. read more

I visited for a Private event (wedding party) for my friend on Saturday. There was another event (bridal shower) at the first floor. There are a couple of separate event halls so it was very private and nice. The staffs were kind and friendly, but the bartender was super slow even though the open bar charges per hour. Hope there was another bartender because the total number of guests was over 100. All food was very good. The catering food was warm and fresh, it was refilled quickly, and had plenty of leftovers. We got chicken parmigiana, pork chop with mushroom and gravy, salmon, and steamed veggies and caeser salad. And bread and butter. The event went well overall, I recommend this place for a event venue. read more

Only our 2nd time at the Plumsteadville Inn, but the experience was poor at best. I don't usually detail bad reviews, but for the benefit of their management, I'll explain my poor experience. We were on our way to an event and wanted a light meal. My wife's scallops salad was a losing gamble on a Monday. Scallops were not fresh, and the garnish was pretty much just cucumber skins. I had the grilled Chicken Cesar Salad and the chicken was very dry and loaded with the flavor of dehydrated garlic which usually stays long after the meal. It's a great looking place, but they need to pay more attention in the kitchen. read more

This was my first time to the Inn! It was an amazing experience. Brenda our server was fantastic-pleasant and knowledgeable. The service by Brenda and the entire staff was really attentive but not crowding. Lots of staff! Two manages walked by to check on us and thanked us when we left. The diner named "Alain" and I must have been there the same night: 7/17/25. We had the same experience and I agree with everything he said. First off, I love the Plum and have been a customer for many years, and will continue to be. But the AYCE crab night is REALLY disappointing. The crabs were of low quality, rubbery, and doused in a very heavy-handed Old Bay seasoning which will stay on your hands until you find a fire hose. I honestly don't get the Old Bay. If crab night can't be done right, Plum should abandon it. read more

Dined here for AYCE crab night and it was unfortunately a very disappointing experience. The crabs were low quality and not very meaty, the dollop of mashed potatoes were tasteless and we are almost positive the vegetable medley was frozen veggies. Also, they gave us cheap little hammers to crack the legs because they were out of crab crackers. The time between crab "refills" was lengthy (it took an hour to get our first portion), and with each round of legs the crabs they were covered even more with Old Bay (which ultimately made them inedible). If you want much better quality and faster service, do yourself a favor and go to The Hawke in Lambertville. Their AYCE crabs on Mondays in the summer are incredible! I've been to the Plumsteadville Inn on a few different occasions for baby showers, Sunday brunch, etc but just recently got the chance to have dinner there. First off, the restaurant has a bunch of different sections so if you want to have an event, such as a shower or a corporate lunch, there are rooms you can rent out. They have a room in the front, a bar area in the middle, and the restaurant is in the back. One shower I attended was in the front room, the other in the back. All the events I've been to there have been lovely, and the food, drinks, and service have been excellent. The building itself is very historical, and therefore the atmosphere is that of old world charm and colonial-era elegance. The building is beautiful, large, and well maintained on the outside, and cozy on the inside with alot of wood paneling. They do offer bed & breakfast style guest rooms as well for travelers. We started out with one of the appetizers on special, the fried mac and cheese bites, and split the Plum Salad. The mac and cheese bites were served with marinara and quite what you would expect with a mac and cheese bite, nothing less nothing more. The salad is dressed with a white honey balsamic vinaigrette which is very delicious and just the right amount of sweet and tangy! For dinner we both got entrees that were on special. I got the mahi-mahi topped with lump crabmeat served with a plum reduction sauce, a baked potato, and broccoli, while my mom ordered the Porterhouse Pork. The fish was high quality and very juicy, and the sauce complimented the flakey texture perfectly. The pork had hints of smokiness and was cooked to a perfect, tender medium. We polished off dinner with a piece of the pecan pie and a dessert on special, the Cinnabon bread pudding. Both were so decadent and delicious we sadly couldn't finish! Our waitress, Julia, was lovely. She was very friendly and always popped in to check on us at just the right time. Santa was visiting the night we had dinner, so she ensured to come by and ask us if we wanted to take a picture with him before he left, which of course we did. Whilst we got caught up chatting with Santa, our food came out and Julia let us know so that it wouldn't get cold. She also made my birthday dinner extra special by putting a candle in my pecan pie! Lastly, the Plumsteadville Inn's pricing is very good value for the money. The portions are large, and they have tavern favorites ranging from $16 to $30, and then the most expensive entree is around $45. I would definitely recommend the Plumsteadville Inn both for an event or simply for lunch or dinner. The service and food has been exemplary no matter what the occasion and the setting is beautiful. 10/10 on the food, parking, service and prices at the Plumsteadville Inn. I popped in for lunch with a friend on Saturday. When we walked in, there was a private event taking place but I would've never known that based on how much parking was available. The hostess asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but were seated immediately. I can't recall the name of our server, but he was fantastic. I appreciated the fact that he kept coming over to refill our waters as it was a warm day. We started out with a side of onion petals and they were superb. Way more than enough for two people. For my entree, I ordered the portobello sandwich. I've had different variations of a portobello sammy, but nothing that can compare to this one. The garlic aioli did not miss the mark. The sandwich itself was flavorful and the bun was soft. Simply the best. It came with a side of chips, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. I was dying for a refreshing dessert - the key lime pie was the winner. It hit the spot. Creamy and decadent, however, I wish it had more lime flavor. The crust was buttery and flaky. I don't think I've been back to the "Plum" for over 20 years, & not since a devastating fire in 2012 nearly destroyed the place. Now under new management, it still is a colonial gem restored to a quaint & charming gem. I went for the buffet brunch, which, while plentiful, showed no imagination, & had some real misses. First of all, I was packed into an 'L-shaped' room with a party of 30, which was so tightly packed thst people had to get up to let others out. Also, because of the layout, you could only have conversations with the people next to you or across from you. I know to pace myself at a buffet. I took a first walk around & was surprised by the lack of signage on most of their foods. It the cold salads area, they had lukewarm warm baked brie, some lox, bagels, capers & onions, cold shrimp, nicely cooked & spiced, but NOT deveined!, asparagus with feta cheese, roasted brussel sprouts, deviled eggs, & salads that could have been tuna, chicken or 'other' - no signs. There was a nice butternut squash with cranberries & some kind of grain, caesar salad. Again, standard fare. On the hot side, I tried the tortellini, but it was cold & flavorless. They had small Monte Cristo sandwiches which, after sitting in a hot tray, became soggy on one side. Also, I saw a tray of Eggs Benedict, but from the look of them, I knew the yolk would not be runny, so why bother? I think they had French toast, ham, sausage & scrapple, a carving station with Prime Rib & Turkey, plus the obligatory Omelette Station. The dessert table had Danish, a chocolate fountain with pretzels, banana slices & strawberries, plus cheesecake & a few other small confections, but nothing that made me think it would be worth challenging my sugar level. Yes, a lot of food indeed!, At $24.95 ($31.50 with tax & the 20% gratuity automatically added) you do get a lot of food & a standard variety of brunch ckassics. I do think, in this case, I would rather have ordered exactly what I wanted from s menu & had it cooked to order. At least things would have been hot, yolks runny, hashbrowns crisp, etc. I wasn't impressed with the preparation or any kind of creativity with the menu. Only the quantity, & for many people, that's all they care about. I expect better. read more

We recently held a funeral luncheon at the Plumbsteadville Inn for approximately 80 people. The Banquet Manager, Keira, was extremely helpful and patient with us as we planned the luncheon. They made the entire process super-easy for us during a time that we couldn't think straight. While we decided to stop in to see the space and talk through options, it could have been done completely remotely. The buffet luncheon menu of options was great, too. The luncheon was well set-up and the food was delicious. We were impressed at how easily and quickly the staff replenished the food. The servers were attentive. 5 stars for their services. read more

It is definitely a tremendous value as well as a 4 star restaurant buffet experience.They have so many options but the stars were : shrimp and grits, pick and peel shrimp, smoked salmon, quiche, eggs Benedict, carved prime rib and carved ham and the omelette station. And obviously the deserts are worth saving room , i barely did. The cheesecake was off the charts , super creamy which is how I like it. Reminded me of the Old Original Bookbinders in Philadelphia. What is going on? We love this historic Inn. The ambiance should be astounding. But, it is thwarted by an attempt to appeal to a nonexistent demographic. We brought our 90 year old dear friend and landlord here for dinner. She loves crab cakes. I chose the homemade chicken pot pie. My wife, a vegetarian struggled. Crab cakes: generous, but too much of something, upset her stomach. She threw out the take home portion. Chicken pot pie? Cracker Barrel is better. Crab fritters, very bad dough texture and flavor. Horrific. Grilled salmon, really not that bad. But, you can probably do better. Service? A very lovely experienced server asked to cover too many tables. Went on a Friday night and the atmosphere was fun! The bar was busy and had a single performer doing live music. There was delicious featured drinks, and everyone at the bar was friendly. Dinner was in a separate room where we couldn't hear the music but our waiter was very nice. Apps we good, dinner was great and dessert was even better. Will definitely be back!
