We stopped by for brunch and the table got Egg White Frittata ($13) and the most ordered dish - Huevos Rancheros ($15). Both were delicious, served warm, and what I feel, well priced. Portion sizes were perfect, and food arrived within 25-mins of placing the order. We got a comfortable booth seating, and the staff was warm and welcoming. Noise levels on the lower end and pretty easy to have a conversation. Great bar set-up too! Highly recommend this place for a relaxing Sunday brunch or a dinner night! read more

I loved the Steak Au Poive. Medium rare was perfect. My son greatly enjoyed the Hattery Chicken Pot Pie, which was huge and definitely made for more than one meal. With great drinks and a welcoming atmosphere, you can't go wrong here. read more

We stopped here for drinks as we were exploring Doylestown for the afternoon. The restaurant's decor (hats and chandeliers) were quirky and memorable. "I'd only get salmon if it can be prepared RARE." "Yes! It can be," replied our server. It wasn't. With that I deduct a star, but all told my meal was pretty darned good. String beans, not my favorite vegetable, were delicious -- crisp and very garlicky. The menu says 'almondine' but I don't think they were. The beet puree is a nice aesthetic touch, albeit lacking distinct flavor. T went with the restaurant's spin on pot pie. The filling (roast chicken, carrots, onions, peas, celery and potatoes) was excellent. The pastry topping, somewhat brittle. We chose the Hattery because I had one thing in mind: al fresco dining. There are maybe five tables on the patio out front. The restaurant was formerly a hat factory (no surprise), cigar shop, shoe store and speakeasy during prohibition. It's located on the first floor of the historic Doylestown Inn, which is still in operation. (Note my photo of the lobby.) The Hattery's menu isn't extensive, but I think they cover most bases. It's worth a look if you happen to be downtown. But don't order a margarita if it's some kind of fruit concoction. We both gave it thumbs down. read more

Loved this spot! Seems recently updated and has quirky retro touches throughout, especially in the lobby. The food exceeded expectations -- we shared the deviled eggs, quiche and Cubano burger, and were impressed with all of it. The Banana Bread old fashioned was also quite tasty, though I normally prefer a single rock of ice instead of chipped ice. Service was well-paced, and prices were extremely reasonable. We will be returning around the holidays, as Doylestown is adorable, and this spot is right on the main drag. read more

I'm typically not a burger person. However, during my trip to PA, I stumbled upon a bed & breakfast place with many beautiful chandeliers and an exposed brick wall. So we decided to eat there. Ngl, I was bummed out at first, when I first saw the lunch menu because majority of the lunch entrees were sandwiches and burgers. So I was like "oh boy" until a few burgers caught my eye. We ordered: Monte Cristo Burger with chips (Turkey Burger, Smoked Ham, Gruyere Cheese, Grain Mustard Sauce, French Toast Style Brioche, Orange Maple) - I saw turkey burger and realized I never had one before so of course I had to order it! Initially I was expecting a ground turkey patty, instead I got a turkey filet. which I didn't mind. The turkey is well seasoned and perfectly cooked ( it wasn't dry or rough). Plus, I thought the maple syrup complimented the turkey and French toast well! Chicken or the Egg with chips (Buttermilk Fried Chicken Thigh, White Cheddar, Sriracha, Aioli, Bacon, Tomato, Sunny Egg) (We upgraded +$3 for the fries) instead of debating which one came first ( the chicken or the egg). This burger gives you both and it's a great combo. The chips and fries were fried perfectly. There was a good crunch to the chips and crispness to the fries. However, If I visit again, I'm fine with sticking with the chips. FYI, both burgers were really good. I was quite impressed. If I'm ever in the area again, I wouldn't mind ordering another burger from them. read more

Popped back into The Hattery for a lunch in a Friday and as always the experience was relaxed. Food not just filling but fulfilling. The Hattery has a limited menu but they do what's on it well and not just with effort, with vision and passion. You're not just getting a burger here it is hand crafted, locally sourced and artistically presented. While there was no scotch egg on the menu this time, he opted for their version of biscuits and gravy with a fried egg on top . The biscuits were more reminiscent of bubble waffle, but with the texture of a biscuit. A unique experience - again executed only the way the Hattery can. My Cubano burger was juicy, full of flavor and everything I wanted it to be. This visit we got to sit in a different spot where we were able to notice the darling little hats as lights over top the bar. The details in this place are quirky and well intentioned. I highly recommend the Hattery when in Doylestown it will definitely be an experience. You're not soon to forget. read more

The place is very nice, was visiting town for some personal reasons. Stopped in to get something to eat real quick, got some apps and some wine. All was good the person waiting on us was nice, they had great recommendations for wine and foods to try while we were plotting our next move. This place is at the first floor of an inn in the cutest little town - Doylestown, PA. We sat at the bar as we find it way more interesting and the bartender did not disappoint. She gave us her opinion on drinks and chatted with us about family and travel. I ordered the apple butter old fashion and my husband had the traditional OF. I had the shrimp tacos and he had the Cubano burger with sweet potato fries. Absolutely fabulous. It was a great way to end our PA trip. Highly recommend the lemon desert as well. read more

Met a group of colleagues here for a get together. Place was empty for a Thursday night in Doylestown. Drinks were small and ok. I ordered a double rye and diet which came in a small glass and a little water down. Got a single the next time and was much stronger. The menu was not really impressive. We got a bunch of different appetizers which were all very good. The hot chips were soooo good! Poutine was delicious. The hummus had such a great flavor with warm pita and cukes. The hummus was really a standout. The flavor was a little sweet and a little garlicky. Very different from anything I've had before. For my main entree, I went with the chicken pot pie and it did not disappoint! The crust was thin, flakey, and delicious. Not that thick crust that's a little soggy. It was the best chicken pot pie I've ever had. And, the size was enormous, enough to feed 2 adults and a small child! The burgers looked amazing too. Service was good but not stellar. I felt like the server gave us ample time to sit and talk but towards the end, she was hard to find to get a drink. Not a deal breaker for me. The best $5 Bloody Mary anywhere. (Unfortunately, it cost $12.) The Bananas Foster Stuffed French Toast was incredible. There could have been a bit more banana, and another slice or two of bread for $16. The reason the A la carte break is "Build At Your Own Risk" is that 3 scrabbled eggs, crispy bacon (not crispy at all, see pic), and rye toast (I was served wheat, not rye), with potatoes has that name. When my son comes to visit from Columbus, OH to visit, we always come here. Decor is wonderful. I have the chicken pot pie and he has a wonderful mushroom and noodle dish. My wife and I were part of a large group that visited the night before New Year's Eve and luckily we had a reservation. The restaurant is attached to the Doylestown Inn. The restaurant is historic, quaint, charming, with a nice vibe. We were seated downstairs which was a larger dining area then upstairs. Our table began with an order of the hot chips, hummus caponata, and an arugula salad. The hot chips were not spicy but temperature hot. Delicious! Nicely salted and seasoned. The hummus was tasty and the naan that came along with it was fresh. The arugula salad was big enough to split multiple ways. Our entrees consisted of multiple orders of the All American Burger with fries, multiple orders of the Chipotle shrimp tacos, multiple orders of the grilled salmon salad, and a cobb salad. The burgers were cooked to perfection and held up well in the brioche bun. The fries came in a metal basket and were seasoned nicely. A standard portion. Everyone raved about their salads and the tacos, which consisted of three and plenty of shrimp. The service was excellent and friendly. The prices were very reasonable and competitive. There is a nice front porch on the Inn where guests can drink and dine outside during the good weather. Located in the heart of downtown. read more

We split an arugula salad; it was pretty good, but either underdressed or the dressing itself lacked flavor. I had the chicken and egg sandwich. It was amazing. The fried chicken thigh was well-seasoned and huge. The bacon was great and the egg was cooked perfectly. Fries were fine, but not great. My friend had the same, but without the egg. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Our server was friendly but clearly overworked and didn't check on us that often. Food did come out very quickly, though. read more

The Hatter is a quaint restaurant with an eclectic decor. The food was generally good. The fried buratta cheese ball with the buffalo sauce on top does not need to be on the 73 Burger. The burger had enuf distinctive flavors and the cheese ball was definitely overkill. Make sure you have planned enough time to eat as our food took 45 minutes to be served!!!! read more

What a great atmosphere. Check out the lobby before going into the restaurant. The decor follows you into that space too. All the staff were very friendly and the upstairs dining room completely full and this was for lunch on a Monday. Very interesting and fairly large menu but 2 out of the 3 of us went for the Thermidor Burger. One of the best burgers in a long time with Kobe beef, Crab stuffed Portabella Mushroom, Smoked Gouda Lobster sauce, a special Aioli and fries. The Chicken or the Egg Sandwich was very different with buttermilk fried chicken thigh, white cheddar, sriracha aioli, bacon, tomato and sunny side up egg and fries. Although it was very good, the burger was the clear "winner". With 3 beers, before tip, the bill came to around $90. Well worth another visit. BTW: They have a great on-tap beer menu too. read more

I had been wanting to try out the Hattery for awhile but never actually made a trip there. I went for brunch with my friends the other day, we were seated right away and our waiter was nice! The menu was pretty limited for a brunch menu and I ended up with the egg white frittata. Not something I usually get but it sounded good. It was a little blan, lacking flavor. I had some of my friends fries which were actually really good. I wish I had ordered a more hearty meal so maybe next time I'll choose differently! There is seating both downstairs and at street level. Downstairs is darker and moodier which makes me think it could be a fun night spot. It's also part hotel which the hotel lobby was really intriguing! I'd try it again for sure. read more

We have always enjoyed visiting Downtown Doylestown and especially The Hattery. Previous visit found us savoring craft cocktails and bar lunches, while "bellied up" to the bar. Our server was friendly and very informative on menu items and specials. We ordered a range of appetizers, but the deviled eggs were the favorite! Our entrees were amazing! Chicken Pot Pie was as it sounds.....simple and delicious! I went for the Jambalaya, as I was curious how PA does Cajun. It was a good dish, but needed to "up the spice" level. But expect it is how the locals prefer it. Andouille and Seafood were all very fresh! Everyone was very pleased!
