Honey is my absolute favorite restaurant. My girlfriend and I make it a point to go once a year, just because it is a little pricey. But you definitely get what you pay for! I would never complain about that, and the cost is very much worth it. The space is small and dimly lit, perfect for a nice date or special occasion. The service is always friendly and accommodating but never too intrusive. And of course, the food is the star. They are small plates to share. As long as you order enough (we usually get 6 or 7 for a couple), you will leave full and happy. The options are adventurous and always delicious. I have never had a single bad dish, and even if it is something I would not necessarily make myself or order somewhere else, I can always count on Honey to prepare it with thoughtfulness and exacting detail. They make occasional changes to the menu, so I'm always happy to go back and try something else! From the Truffle and Smoke Potato Chips and Grilled Halloumi, to the Meat and Potatoes and Black Tea Spare Ribs, there is an abundance of variety. And don't forget to get a drink if you like cocktails, as these are just as incredible, and save room for dessert. One of the best and most innovative menus I've ever seen. Oysters are phenomenal and you can taste the Guinness which really works. Special duck samosa was terrific, though apricot chutney was a bit sweet and could use some heat. Foie gras sliders was fantastic and apple really shines. Best was ribs with ginger ice cream. Ribs and ice cream is going to be my new thing. Altogether food overall was a tad sweet but never cloying, probably appropriate for a restaurant named honey. When it opened, Honey saw early success among those who enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and novelty of their various small plates. A small ramekin of truffle-oil popcorn arrives as "a gift from the chef" at the start of each meal. It feels special the first time. Not so much when you revisit years later and they're doing the same thing like you're in some sort of foodie cult initiation. Think of Honey as an American spin on tapas. If you've never been here before, it's an interesting one-off experience food-wise. If you're revisiting, don't expect much evolution. This lack of innovation has caused Honey to lose some luster. Their menu is virtually the same as when they originally opened over a decade ago, and the ambient music is a repetitive generic electronica thumping that comes off as try-hard and is grating after you've been seated for an hour. Also, Honey takes the bee theme to arguably kitsch levels, with Homegoods-grade honeycomb shaped frames and mirrors adorning the walls, like bikes at Applebees. Ten years ago, this was not super common. Now every middle-class American home is decorated with these trinkets. These areas are why they lose some stars. I don't care how good your food is, a great chef doesn't only need to, but wants to innovate to stay fresh. While the main dishes don't actually have anything to do with Honey, they get points for not skimping on cocktail ingredients. You'll probably get a buzz and you'll probably do a waggle dance on your way out, so I guess customers are the bees in this hive. The staff is knowledgeable and courteous. read more

We spent a lovely day and evening in Doylestown capped off by the best dining experience I could have imagined at Honey Restaurant. Highly recommended and positively reviewed online, we were lucky to score reservations outside on a Friday. As it started to get a little chilly, the owner brought over a heat lamp just for our table that definitely made dining outdoors comfortable. Our server, Jason, was knowledgeable of all the menu options and was able to provide recommendations when we were stuck on what to order. Everyone working there was beyond friendly, exemplifying the small time charm Doylestown offers. The menu is extensive and unique. Plenty of options scratching the surface of several different cultures of food. We enjoyed everything we ordered and wouldn't hesitate to order any again. The two specials we ordered (Earth and Turf - many different mushrooms with seaweed over soba noodles and the ham an cheese - a fancy take on a ham cheese sandwich on a desirable pretzel bun) were both phenomenal. The rest: Fire & Ice: 8/10 Truffle and Smoke Chips: 10/10 Black Tea Glazed Ribs: 10/10 Salmon Tacos: 9/10 Blackened Green Beans: 10/10 Take 6 dessert: 10/10 What an amazing dinner. Celebrated my wife's birthday at this hidden gem of a restaurant. Tucked away, it offers ample parking nearby. Reservation is highly recommended due to limited seating. The ambiance is charming, and though the menu is concise, the tapas-style offerings are exquisite. We indulged in about 10 different dishes, each a delightful and delicious culinary experience. To start make sure you make reservations. Secondly this is a tapas type of place so you will more than likely need to order a lot to satisfy you. I brought my wife here for our anniversary and it didn't disappoint. She was thrilled. It was small & dark but romantic. Very intimate. We could hear the other table by us conversation but we were being polite to ignore and have our own instead. I mainly hag out in New Hope on the weekends because the restaurants are simply better than Doylestown - but Honey was recommended by a friend as a restaurant akin to New York's very best. Spoiler alert... It. Is. Not. Honey is sort of a deflating experience in the Bucks County restaurant world. The food is poorly prepared, lacks flavor and imagination. One of the small plates had a wasabi sauce that was so overpowering I couldn't eat it without gagging. Another was so deeply fried all you could taste was the crunch of over fried food. This hidden gem is absolutely amazing. Small intimate dinning room with small plate American cuisine, sharable for two, scaleable for more We were seated immediately on time with our reservation. Our server knew the menu inside and out and helped us navigate the I want that options. We decided on the olive plate( note to self always add orange zest) truffle chips, foi gras sliders, waygyu beef tartar and blackened green beans, lobster rolls and dessert to die for. You will experience eclectic food preparation with sensitivity to take your palate to the edge without going too far. Each tapas plate is prepared as if it was the only dish you were having. The wait staff will take your order for multiple plates and bring them out in the proper order as one would drink a flight of wine. Oh HONEY , I have a new favorite restaurant! The service was impeccable, the food was mouth watering, and the ambiance, gorgeous. This gem is off the beaten path in downtown Doylestown. One of the best things about this restaurant is that is tapas style! So you order multiple small dishes. And each one I ordered?? AMAZING! My personal favorite was the ham and cheese sandwiches served on a pretzel bun with Dijon mustard. For our main course, we also had Maryland crab cakes, potato chips covered in cheese and truffle oil, and blackened green beans. Each meal comes with popcorn covered in truffle butter and we got a small gift from the chef of goat cheese and cranberry compote served on a small piece of bread. I haven't given out a 5 star rating in awhile, but HONEY deserves that and more. read more

Stopped in with my boyfriend for the first time tonight and we will definitely return. The vibe of the restaurant is so welcoming and relaxed. It was our first time there and the waitress explained that it is tapas style and they manage when plates are sent out so we can just order whatever dishes we want to try. All the food was delicious and I really appreciated the fun extra treats they sent out too. Our favorite dish was the duck samosas because the was spicy but the beautifully ripe and sweet apricots complimented it so nicely. My boyfriend loved the buffalo buffalo dish and appreciated that they put the blue cheese on the side. The buffalo was crispy and spicy and the pickled celery was a nice bright punch to the dish. The chocolate dessert was divine and the raspberry sauce was so tart and wonderful. The staff was very nice and our waitress whipped down our table after every dish which was a very nice touch and something I do not see done often. The pace of the meals were nice and you can definitely take your time and enjoy without being rushed. We will definitely be back to try the ever changing menu and the fun cocktails! read more

Went with my wife. We got several dishes & only one of them was actually good. The gluten free menu is not even gluten friendly. There are only about 7 items on the "gluten free" menu, but only 2-3 of them are actually gluten free. They do not have a dedicated fryer, so anything fried will not be gluten free. read more

I've been to Honey many times. It's almost always perfect. We went a few months ago and I started to feel like the menu was becoming stagnant. And a couple items were just ok. I thought maybe they "hit the wall". It's a tough business and it's easy to get burned out, especially when your almost 2 decades in. BUT I'm happy to say I was wrong. Went here a few weekends(3/12/11) ago. This was actually my second visit. This place is very cozy and intimate. They serve small plates, so be prepared to order a lot if you wanna get full. My first visit I remember not being full when I left. This time was different... ...We ordered the black tea glazed ribs(2), grilled octopus, B.e.L.T., lamb and escargot skewers(2), salmon tacos, black velvet oysters and the lobster tacos. All of the dishes were great, but a few stuck our more than others. My favorite was the lamb and escargot skewers, which I've had before and the B.e.L.T. The B.e.L.T. is a smoked pork belly, fried quail egg, black pepper tomato jam on a grilled baguette. It was like a bite size bacon, egg and jam sandwich on toast. This place is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurant (outside Philly). I highly recommend it and it would be great for dates. read more
