Very beautiful and Clear! We went in around 11 and stayed till around 4. The water was pretty shallow when we got there, and got more shallow the longer we were there. Good amount of people and kids. Everyone was really friendly (my umbrella almost flew away and a group of ladies got it for me). There was a group of boys that seemed really nice having other kids join to play. Seemed to have a lot of positive vibes there. Warning: please don't go near the rocks. There is a half barrier wall and at the end is a pile of Boulders/Big Rocks with SHARP barnacles I barely touched them and have paper cuts all over my hands looking around for shells, they guys with me have deep cuts of there shins and feet. Highly recommend gloves and proceed with caution is looking for shells. It was mostly calm water. Towards the end it had some decent waves, for the Gulf side anyways. read more

The beach is small and was crowded on a Thursday afternoon. The drinks at the so-called cafe were undrinkable. The banana slushie had ice cubes as big as pebbles floating in a white mixture tasting vaguely of banana. The mango smoothie looked radioactive and was clearly nothing but chemicals. If it doesn't come in a bottle or a can, just say no. We had a fried fish sandwich, a hotdog, one each of these terrible drinks and a Diet Pepsi for almost $50. Honestly, this wasn't my favorite beach. The TikTok videos I saw about this place were a bit misleading (though it's entirely possible I wasn't at the exact "correct" spot!). However, you make your own fun! My family and I had a great day eating, laughing, and relaxing to some good music. At only $8 per vehicle for parking, you really can't complain about the price. Had an absolutely amazing time at Honeymoon Island State Park. This place is one of the most beautiful spots on the Gulf with clean beaches, clear water, and a peaceful natural setting that feels like a true escape. The beach stretches out nicely so even when it is busy you can still find your own space. The sand is soft, the water is calm, and it is perfect for swimming, walking the shoreline, or just relaxing and soaking up the sun. We also enjoyed seeing the shells along the shore which made it even more fun. The park itself is very well maintained with clean facilities, plenty of parking, and easy access to the beach areas. There are also nature trails that give you a chance to see local wildlife and enjoy a quieter side of the park. Everything about the visit felt relaxing and well organized. This place is amazing. Clean bathrooms, cold water fountains, kid park, several customizable lengths of hiking trails (Osprey is longer, Pelican shorter), tortoise and birds everywhere, and so much available easy parking. Went for a hike then the beach (2 min drive between the two in the same park). Trails are well manicured with lots of signs to learn about the wildlife and foliage, pet friendly on leash, and clean. I only saw 1 piece of trash the whole trail (a bike chain which I picked up and threw away). Trails are dirt and sand with roots and bumpy at times. We took a beach cart for the dog and for really same candy areas it was arduous, but doable. Beach is awesome. Have been a few times and love it. Clear/greenish water (same as Clearwater), large shallow area, and sandy bottom mostly. One area is dog friendly and its terrible. Small shoreline and lots and lots of rocks. I hate that side but I can bring my dog, so thats that. Once you get a ways in the rocks disappear though. Definitely bring aqua shoes. Overall, Honeymoon is a great time. $8 fee for a vehicle of 2 or more, $4 for one, and $2 pedestrians/bikes. read more

Our favorite island when we visit Dunedin. The sunsets here are gorgeous and spectacular. A must see if you visit.

We came here on a day when it was 38° and 35 mph and there were us and 3 cars. The ferry to the neighbor island wasn't running but we didn't come for that, we were hoping to see to some gulf flurries! However the case, the beach was beautiful and there is plenty of parking. We decided on the beach that was furthest away from the entrance. There was plenty of parking and lots of places to put down a towel etc. The water was really calm and shallow at spots. A gorgeous state park that never fails to give me some beautiful sights while I am visiting. The parking fee is reasonable here at roughly $8 but it was a little cheaper last time I was here because I was arriving a bit later to just watch the sunset. It was a little less but I can no remember the price unfortunately. The park is always clean and there are many different areas that you can visit while you are here. They have some very pretty nature walks as well as gazebos that you can sit and rest in to escape from the sun and heat. I love that this place always has some amazing shells that I usually end up collecting because they are just so pretty! The sand is very fine so be ready to be taking some of that home with you as well if you decide to visit the park as well. The beach also has a dog friendly area and it is very nice to see all the dogs and owners interacting while they are enjoying their day at the beach! read more

Went to this state park and beach for a school field trip and was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the park and the beach. There is a nice little playground and some pavilions to use. The bathroom is okay, not the cleanest but not the dirtiest either. I could use it. We saw a cute turtle strolling by. The beach was clean. The time and day we went was not crowded so I cannot speak for weekends and holidays. Im not usually impressed with tampa bay beaches but I would return. PS. Some things I don't like are people are still too much here and some parts of the beach shore is rocky and hurts the feet so be careful. Honeymoon Island State Park has 4 miles of beaches. It's on Honeymoon Island which is near the city of Dunedin. In Florida, it is the most visited state park with approximately 1 million visitors per year. It's located on the west coast of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. I loved visiting the park! It's so serene and the beach is large, clean, and beautiful. The parking lot was huge too. I think the name is cute; apparently there used to be honeymoon huts back in the day, which were built to entice newlyweds, hence the name. It's a beach and a park, so you can sunbathe, picnic, fish, and hike. There are pavilions, bathhouses, concessions, and even a ferry to the nearby Caladesi Island. I visited the park as a tourist and as a Floridian, many many times. It's always a great time and a beautiful place to visit. I recommend sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, water, snacks, and an umbrella because it does get super hot. We always make a whole day of it when we visit. read more

Great beach location on the gulf coast. Perfect for families. There are several parking lots with beach access. Each lot has access to restrooms and large stretch of white sand beach. There were also food trucks there the day we went and we enjoyed a yummy gyro. The other food truck was doing tacos. Really easy to park and take your stuff to the beach. Many people had the little beach wagons. Lots of little gazebos setup. Plenty of beach to build sand castles and collect shells. If you walk further down the beaches, you get further from the rest rooms, but have plenty of room to spread out and have greater privacy. No lifeguards on duty. Nice ocean breeze and waves. We'll definitely go back with all our gear. We were in Dunedin for an event and drove over to see if we liked it. read more

The island has beautiful or neon green water depending on the time of day/year. But when it's beautiful it's beautiful. Definitely bring water shoes because some rocks are obvious and other rocks sneak up on you. My sister slipped on an underwater rock and scraped her entire leg on the other rocks. You are able to get to caladesi island via a ferry from honeymoon island for a fee. There is a gift shop and restroom on honeymoon island and it's very nice for a lounging beach day. read more

This is my favorite beach! I love that they allow dogs, and so does my dog lol. They always have parking available even on the most crowded days. The beaches are all so beautiful, although some are a bit rocky, so I do recommend wearing aqua shoes. It's a great place for children and families as well as it's not too rowdy. Beautiful natural beach. Laid back and less touristy than clearwater. It is rocky for the first few feet due to the hurricane destruction. The bathrooms are under construction as well as the cafe house. We went in July 2025 so months later and they are still working hard on repairs. Do not let it stop you from visiting. As far as this coast goes there aren't many bad beaches & this state park is a prime example of that. Although there's an entry fee like most parks have, it's very reasonable at only $8. The ranger who was working the gate was very friendly which made me feel welcomed. When you enter the park you have the option to choose which part of the beach you want to stop at. This helps displace the crowds so everyone doesn't go to the same area. They offer rental equipment for experiences like kayaking & bicycling. They also have plenty of areas to go hiking, fishing, surfing & even have some covered pavilions for picnicking. Dogs are allowed within the park at the designated areas so bring your furry friends along! I love watching the sunsets whenever I'm on this coast & you can catch some beautiful ones here. These beaches are also great for collecting shells. Just be sure to leave the wildlife alone. I generally don't complain about bugs but I'd suggest bringing some bug spray because the no-see-em's were pretty bad this time of year. I know it's expected but it doesn't hurt to have. read more

I enjoyed our afternoon here. A Tuesday afternoon in mid-May. Parking is $8. Additional charge if more than 8 people in your vehicle. There were a lot of shells and rocks on the beach. They tended to be in a strip, with sandy areas above and below so you could walk barefoot. But there were clearings to our left and our right with no shells or rocks where you could swim without fear of stepping on sharp objects. In May 2025 no outdoor showers. They were destroyed in the hurricane. read more

What brought us here was our plan to take the ferry the Caledesi Island however when we arrived at the park a little past 9am there was a sign stating the ferry was sold out. It's ok, we just went to the beach here instead. The beach is beautiful! It is rocky so you'll have to walk until you find a spot with no rocks. But the water is just wow, crystal clear and beautiful! My complaint is that there are ants, so be aware and shake out your stuff so you don't get bit. I do also wish you could purchase ferry tickets online in order to avoid commuting there and then not being able to get on. Overall we loved the beach and will definitely be back!! read more

Florida has many nice state parks and beaches and Honeymoon Island is one of them. One thing to note is that there are two main beaches that are actually sandy and a stretch that is covered with rocks, It does cost $8 per car to park and there are capacity limits so make sure you plan accordingly. You can also take a ferry to Caladesi Island, but this is also capacity limited and oftentimes sells out quickly when they open. The main beaches do have bathroom structures at them and one has a little food/convenience store type of store you can buy limited food and drinks from, but little else so if you need drinks and food its a good idea to bring some. The beaches seem to be very clean and the water's color and clarity are generally dictated by the conditions of the day. It can get crowded for sure, especially on the North Beach, but people are generally considerate of each other. Being a pretty straight shot drive from the house, this beach is high up on our list to go to when we get the itch. But as I pointed out several times, plan your trip and have contingencies just in case it's too crowded. read more

Amazing place. $8 to come in and park, just as a heads up. You can easily spend the day here and the park is massive. We stayed for a few hours and did some shelling. Had a blast. I liked that they also have a separate dog beach area however the walk to get to that area seemed to be quite long from the parking lot. Bring water! If you're in the Dunedin/Tarpon Springs area I would definitely pay a visit to the Honeymoon Island State Park. We got there at 8:30am because we'd read that it can get quite busy, a line was building even at that time. If you get there that time you can get a front row spot, throughout the day the beach fills in a good bit. The water was so wonderful, a clear blue/green that was a perfect temperature. There is a section where you can rent two sun beds and an umbrella for $35. I personally wouldn't do that because they were quite a ways back from the water but if you don't have your own to bring then it's a great amenity that they offer. We spent six blissful hours on the beach and as we left at 2:30pm the line to get in was about a literal mile long but it moves pretty quickly. The cost to enter the park was $8 for the two of us and covers up to 8 occupants, under 6 are free and any more than 8 is an extra $2 per person. This was a wonderful day on Honeymoon Island and we hope to go back tomorrow! Ps. The only thing I didn't like was some inconsiderate people playing loud music, I appreciate quiet on the beach, but that's just me! read more

Great beach if you are looking for just a beach. This isn't like other beaches in the area that have plentiful restaurants and shops. This is pretty much just beach. There is one food place, but since we went to the North side of the beach it wasn't anywhere close. On Memorial Day it's free to get in. Otherwise it is $8 per car. My friends told me that it will get packed very quickly, so we arrived around 8:40 a.m. There was a long line to get in, because you still had to get a receipt from the parking attendant. There was a lot of parking at the north side. By 9:20 a.m. it looked almost completely taken. So I completely agree that if you're coming on a popular day (holiday or weekend) get here early. There are a lot of shells, but I didn't see any special looking ones. They were all clam like shells that I could find, which I was a little disappointed by. Otherwise the sand and the water is nice. It's busy, but again, if you get there at 8:40 a.m. you'll find a spot right by the water. Just make sure you think about which way the tide is going so you don't set up your tents and have to move it an hour later. It seemed like people knew this, because the first row of tents were a little ways back and at noon when we left the water was getting close. The bathroom is nice and has changing stalls. I also like the foot washing station/shower right by the bathroom. It's a great way to try to get the sand off before getting in your car. I'm really not a beach person, but if I do go to the beach it will probably be here. read more
