Very chilly morning to take in the sunrise!! Definitely a well known spot for photos as I saw more people here than I have at any of my other morning locations from professional photographers to tourists. They also have a boat ramp and you can fish off the pier where while we were walking by a fisherman, he was reeling in some type of shark but lost it. It jump out of out water and scared the girls though. LOL. Lots of different areas to wander around to for the photos so can be a good repeat location.

Nice to see people fishing on the pier. They had hand washing station and sitting area under the covered end.

I'm surprised to find this tiny pier has a yelp page. There isn't much to it. You can park your boats, cars and bikes and walk around downtown Safety Harbor. There is a park with walking trails, public bathrooms, benches, and plenty of scenery. The pier itself is long and wooden. Not too rickety. The narrow walkway caters to fishermen as there are a couple of wash stations. The end of the pier is serene and peaceful. The benches underneath the rooftop offer a shady escape from the sun to enjoy the view. If you stare out into the sparkling bay long enough you many see dolphins and boats. The pier faces south, so, even though you're on the water you don't face sunset. The sky tends to be rather incredible regardless. It never hurts to venture out to the pier at dusk. One of my favorite local spots.

On a sunny Saturday afternoon I was driving around the downtown Safety Harbor area, and drove along Safety Harbor's version of Bayshore Boulevard to check out the upper end of Tampa Bay. Then I circled back to just south of the Safety Harbor Spa and parked my car near the marina along Veterans Memorial Lane. You can get out and walk along past the boats, and then wander out to the Safety Harbor Fishing Pier. The walkway to the pier is a sturdy wooden boardwalk with high railings all the way out to the covered gazebo at the very end. Along the way you'll see a number of people with fishing poles and casting nets trying their luck with the little fishies in the brackish water below. There are a couple of cleaning stations along the walkway, and you can expect to see people slicing bait, restringing their hooks, and cleaning their catches as you walk out to the end of the pier. The gazebo at the far end is quite large with several benches, and most people walk out to the end to take in the view of the Bay with the kayakers, paddle boarders, and various boats. If you're lucky you'll see dolphins and possibly manatee, and a whole host of pelicans and gulls. I watched a couple of people hauling in mullet, and most were practicing the fine art of catch and release with their fish. It's a very pleasant spot to enjoy a sunny afternoon, or even some moonlight fishing, but don't expect to be hauling in any great big whoppers as this is the Bay and the best you'll find will be mullet.

Take a right at the end of Main Street and you will find your way to the Safety Harbor Pier. Right behind the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa. You will pass by the marina and Veterans Memorial Park. A nice shady spot to watch the boats go by. I was glad to see the way the pier is well maintained and you will see the fishermen trying their luck. We spotted a manatee and I've heard it is also a good spot for dolphin sightings. They have kayak and paddleboard rentals that may be associated with the resort. The small park and pier is totally free to enjoy. I think the sunsets would be killer to view from the pier.

Nice little park that is clean and well manicured. The pier has some shelter at the end from the rain or sun. There were a few fish cleaning stations that had running water available. I will say the water is extremely shallow so you most likely are not getting any fish here unless you go during the cooler months. So don't come for the fishing but go for a nice walk and some great views of the bay.

The center is currently closed due to Covid but the bathrooms are open. From what I could tell, on our mad dash to the bathroom and distance viewing, the displays are informative and well done. I'd love to return when it is safe to and take a look. The park has three trails that are part of the spree. We hiked the Bobcat Trail since it includes the boardwalk. The trail travels for about a half mile through trees and over dusty shells. Then it connects to the boardwalk. This was by far the best part. We walked along the beautiful, tree lined water, getting up close and personal with a bunch of small black crabs. We scanned the water for manatees but were not lucky to find any. The trail ends back at the nature center. We climbed the back steps to the top level and caught a great view of the river and the distant city. After the hike we hit up the playground for a few minutes. This is always my kids' favorite part. We also stopped off at the butterfly garden which was pretty active on this day. The park was in great shape, the bathrooms were clean, there were lots of people around doing various park things. Canoeing, kayaking, hiking, nature hunting and playing on the playground are just some of the things available at your fingertips here. So glad we visited! Can't wait to return to check out the other trails.

When I first turned in I went to the wrong parking lot and saw tennis courts, basketball courts, and a playground. Moving back I saw dog parks, a zip line course, and then a huge lake. I've actually done the zipline course before and enjoyed it. You can do paddleboard tours with Upper Tampa Bay Paddle Sports. I bet you can even bring your own kayak or paddleboard and go into the lake. I saw a sign at one of the dog parks that said for smaller dogs. I don't own a dog, but I imagine that owners of small dogs would appreciate that. This park seems well taken care of and it is nice to know there is a kayaking lake so close to home. The park area is very clean and obviously well taken care of. Parking is free and although the driveway into the park is paved, you will most likely be parking on grass that has a dip to it. My friends and I enjoyed roaming the area and exploring what the park has to offer.

Captain Eric knows his stuff. He is honest, helpful, thorough, and safety is always his upmost priority. If the weather is suspect he wont risk it, and he will reschedule at your earliest convenience, even if it means coming in on his off day. Making sure his guests have things like proper attire, hydration, and sunscreen are on the top of his priority list. He goes above and beyond to make sure everyone on his boat has the most top tier experience. During our most recent charter, my husband had one of his brothers from upstate New York with him (who has come to FL 3 times now to book with Captain Eric). They were on a mission to catch a "monster", and really wanted to get in the water with their catch. Due to the recent shark activity, Captain Eric had not been letting guests in the water for safety reasons. Because my husband and his brother were determined, Captain Eric made sure to only take them to areas with zero shark sightings and thoroughly patrolled the shallows , taking every possible precaution. To everyones surprise, they caught their Monster! And after careful inspeciation and protocol, they were even able to jump in for a record 3 seconds to grab a photo! The boat is beautiful and has the highest end technology, with every type of lure/rod/bait you could imagine. Captain Eric has been doing this for over a decade, and it shows in the best way!
