This is our favorite place to walk the dogs and enjoy some stunning scenery. Quiet and peaceful and we only see a couple other people when we are there. Its like having the whole world to yourself! The river is mesmerizing to watch and if you are lucky you will see a couple dolphins playing like we did on our 1st visit. They close at sunset so don't get stuck in the park. This ramp is a nightmare. Don't go. It is a setup for aggravation and fights. No one is courteous and ramp is always way to full. Only one way in and out to pick up and put boats in. Not very thought out. read more

This park is a beautiful natural wonder that needs to remain a naturalistic un commercialized space. The Indian mound here alone is sacred & should be respected & preserved till the end of time. The entire park is so beautiful, you can feel it's a very special place when you see the giant American eagles nest soon as you get to the docks by the water. Yes, you can still partially see the creepy power plant from the docks, but barely, as it's way way in the distance separated by a large land mass/Key. I think you must be far enough away from that creepy toxic thing on this side of the Key that the animals feel safe here as there is so much wildlife in and around this park area. The American eagles nest is clearly the most important clue, as the manatee sightings area is just a few feet from it at the end of the docks. American Eagles & Manatees! Right here, together! WOW. WOW. WOW. No wonder the Indians loved it here. A natural wonder, with an abundance of natural resources. A natural paradise. The docks are also very nice here. The best place to drop your watercraft in for the day & explore the area. There is a nice big parking lot for your trucks/trailers etc., 30 mins max loading & unloading. it's a very busy boating area. There is also a very nice beach area here that does have swimming. However, there is a sign posted that says the water is tested weekly for "bacteria" thou. (Mercury/Toxins testing not included) Nope, just more fancy word salad stuff.. just FYI. Anyhoo, There are tons of places to fish, I saw lots of people fishing, taking naps, reading, hiking around the lake, having picnics with their families under the shelter etc., There is also a large children's playground, lots of large old Florida shady oaks draped in moss, yuge open green spaces, very mature tropical plants & large mature palm trees throughout the park. It looks and feels very ancient & historic even thou the infrastructure is new. Docks, shelters, bathrooms etc., a magnificent park. A magnificent place. A natural wonder indeed. It's obviously very popular as it was busy the whole time we were there. Note: I can see why the elites want to take over this beautiful nature park & turn it into a commercialized water front restaurant as it's such an attractive/popular area. All they care about is making money. They do not care about ruining the natural habitat of the animals, desecration of the ancient Indian burial mounds here or taking away the green space/Park of the tax paying locals & their children's playground that live here. And we must not let that happen. We have to say no to this never ending Greed. Greed is a cardinal sin. Last time I checked the 7 cardinal sins are pride, GREED, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony & sloth. Yep, there it is right there, GREED = SIN and it's ruining our country. The US Government already owns half the country. What will happen when they own 60% 80% of America? Yep, that's right, total control over everything & we the people too. One Disney park in Florida is enough. The natural parks are our green spaces. Places where we connect to Nature. I don't remember the bathrooms being as nice as they were tonight. Yes, they are worn with age, but the Women's Room was clean, and it had plenty of toilet paper, soap, and paper towels. We brought our dinner tonight, and ate at a picnic table. The weather was beautiful! A storm was moving in, so it was only 86° with a strong cool breeze. The sunset was also lovely. We enjoy coming here for the beauty all around. read more

If you have a water vessel, this is a great place to park your car, unload your jet ski, kayak or boat and cruise the waters. It is paid parking. There are inspectors present that do random checks to make sure your vessel registration is valid. There is a designated area where patrons can frolic in the water. There are established bathrooms as well. Just make sure you have an all-wheel drive vehicle to unload your vessel into the water because I watched many vehicles get stuck and needed manually pushing to get out the loading dock. read more

I stopped here on the day Hurricane Michael was blowing through. It was a lovely rainy afternoon and I thought I should go see how the water was being affected. I'm odd like that. I've been near this beach park more times than not, but I've never actually gotten out to see what it's like. I was pleasantly surprised. It's quite large, a big area for boats is available so you can put in and get out of the water. There are multiple areas for picnicking and swimming. There's even an old Spanish well and a Florida Indian Mound. Lots of history here along with beautiful river views. A perfect place to walk around and see what's there. Joined my community in solidarity to peacefully protest a commercial venture on community land. Felt good to make noise and gather with like minded neighbors who value the serenity of our park for its wildlife and natural beauty. Anclote River Park is a local treasure, nestled at the opening of the Anclote River to the Gulf of Mexico. For over twenty years, since I moved to the area, this park has often been a peaceful retreat allowing quiet time in nature. Whenever time allows we go listen to the birds, dip my toes in the sand and watch the colorful sunset. An Indian Mound nearby makes me ponder those who have sat in this spot before me, for centuries. EXCERPT from Suncoast News article 4/18/23 ~Over the years, there were several archaeological examinations done in the area of the park. One done in 1970 by the Suncoast Archaeology Society describes "a six-foot-high temple mound, a midden and a burial mound 75 feet in diameter and 7 feet tall."~ It is awe inspiring, and being encroached upon by developers that want to turn the county park into a 22,000 square feet restaunt with indoor/outdoor seating, floating docks, a water sports concession and space for live entertainment monstrosity. There are plenty of places that offer all that in the area, our community parks aren't for this purpose. The proposed plan will turn our natural space into another parking lot zoo based on commercialism. Does not belong edging the Indian mound, the Spanish well and the Eagles Nest that have long called this special place home. We, the community of Anclote DO NOT want this. We launch our boat out of this park. Nice boat ramp with 6 bays, I believe. Gets extremely busy on warm weekends. Save money by purchasing the yearly pass to park your trailer. One thing about this ramp, the current gets to be VERY strong so be prepared when swinging the boat in. read more

This park was great. We were visiting Anclote for the first time and we enjoyed spending one of our days here! The park is quaint and quiet, and appeared to be inhabited mostly by locals. There are benches, covered picnic tables, plenty of play areas, and ample walking space. We walked from a nearby RV park, so didn't have to worry about paying for parking. For an inlet, it's pretty beachy. The water is (almost) clear and the sand is (almost) white. It was a bit foggy, but we loved watching the islands in the distance come to life as the clouds cleared. read more

What a super gem of a find! We were roaming around between Tarpon & New Port Richey, looking for a quiet place to enjoy the sunset. We came across this park, it looked interesting, so we entered to explore. What a great place! A big beach, restrooms, shower, shelters, grills, benches & free boat launch. That meant their was a lot of boat traffic to watch & a large swimming area. People were setting up hammocks, doing crafts, swinging, playing in the sand & visiting with friends & family. How fantastic, everyone was enjoying the early evening calmly & quietly, just doing their own thing. Now this is my favorite way to end a day. Sucess was achieved & we had a most romantic & enjoyable time, just in the silence & splendor of the natural surroundings. Will I go again, every chance I get. What's a girl to do? Nice park. Something for everyone. You have to pay for parking or you can buy an annual county park pass for $60. If you are a local - it's a good deal. They do close at sunset. So if you go for sunsets not much time to hang out before you have to head out. Lots of boat traffic at boat ramp and up and down the river to Tarpon Springs. read more

This is a cute little park outside of Holiday. It has a small beach, a playground, and restrooms. It seems to be kept up pretty well, and it isn't as crowded as the other parks in the area. It costs a couple bucks, but it's worth it. Just don't expect what you get or see at Clearwater or even Fred Howard. read more

I have been to this beach several times and yes there is a $2.00 Parking fee on Honor system ( meaning you go in , park, then go to this little box before you get to the beach, take an envelope,Take the stub out that you will need to put on your dash where park employees can clearly see it, insert $2.00 and put envelope in slot ) and then go to the beach. the beach is small, the water is CLEAR, and your Guarenteed to see atleast 2 to 4 Dolphins swim By daily, there is NO life guard there as the main site says there is. theres mostly an older crowd, some small children not many, so its nice also theres bathrooms, a shower to rinse off with, a Nice playground, and pic nic area. beautiful sunsets, and Miss Vickies on the river is close by should you get hungry or want to go for a drink or you can bring your own edibles but watch out for the sea gulls lol they will keep an eye on you closely shoud you be eating or leave food/ snacks out. should any trouble start or incase of an emergency there are Sherrifs on site by the entrance that you come into the park or as your leaving. you can also launch your boat there ( if you have one ) and a little further down the road there is a really Nice L-O-N-G Fishing peir .. the view from the pier is nice as well. sad to say though there are no shells atleast I have no seen any worth saving. so if your looking for a quiet decent place to lay out where you dont have to worry about having sand kicked all over you or your things then check this small but nice beach out, you wont regret it..
