I finally went to check out Robert K. Rees Memorial Park because I'd heard so many people talk about it. I'm glad I went, but after seeing it for myself, I realized it's just not my kind of beach. The water was calm, families were happily swimming and letting their kids play, so it's clearly a place that a lot of locals enjoy. Just know that this is a natural Gulf Coast beach, so the water isn't crystal clear, and in some areas there's a soft, muddy bottom beneath the sand that you can feel as you walk. It did have its own charm in how peaceful and unhurried it felt. The boardwalk through the mangroves adds to the experience, and you might spot dolphins, manatees, stingrays, pelicans, herons, and other coastal birds. Sharks are part of the Gulf ecosystem, and although alligators are uncommon at this saltwater beach, they do occasionally wander into coastal areas from nearby freshwater habitats. Even though it wasn't the postcard-perfect beach I was looking for, I'm still glad I took the time to see it for myself. read more

Robert K Rees Memorial Park/beach was pretty nice. It's a nice little beach with plenty of parking, a playground and a very small 0.1 mi trail. It is pretty small so we left pretty quick because we were expecting the beach to be bigger. read more

It's beautiful and extremely quiet here. A tiny beach you can literally see from one side to the other, ringed by...are they mangroves? with enough picnic table and bench facilities for anyone who might want one. This is my first time here so I don't know if it's usually this mellow, but on Black Friday there were enough people that it didn't feel scary-deserted but few enough that it felt peaceful. Simply put: I love living in Gainesville but this kinda thing is worth driving for. (I read a book and knitted, but people were swimming so I guess that's allowed too.) I did walk in the water which FYI is way safer than the microbeach at Cedar Key bc no oyster shells. read more

What a nice State Park! It's not clearly marked, so you need to keep your eyes peeled for Green Key Road. It look residential, but just keep driving and you'll dead end into the park! It costs $2 per car to park. Tip: to easily get your parking validation, drive up to the kiosk at the entrance of the park. Pay and get your hang tag, then you can drive and find your parking spot. Sometimes you have to park quite far away, so this method saves you quite a bit of walking. Once you enter the park, to your right is a very nice play area w/ a , very cold water, shower area. Over to left is a large clean restroom facility and a small pavilion where a concession stand is set up. Further towards the beach and to your left is a large pavilion with picnic tables. Further over to your left is a beach area that extends to the water. A swimming area is roped off, but it's very shallow, so it's more of a wading area. This was a really lovely park/beach and even when it was "crowded" it didn't feel like there were too many people there. A bonus was how friendly everyone was! read more

Bleh, came here to see the ocean as our of towners - definitely not the place. The beach was all weedy, the grills were filthy, just very much a drab of a place. Maybe take the time to go elsewhere to really experience the ocean and get a beautiful white beach! read more

Beautiful little waterfront park right off of US 19. There is a small beach area and quite a few covered picnic tables. There's a jungle gym and swings on a playground for kids. Restrooms are on site. There's a little nature trail through a preserve area that I've yet to explore. Most beautiful sunsets here (that's the best part). read more

Rampant free-ranging feral cats yowling and hissing were enough to turn me off. They are apparently the park's 'pets' as food bowls were on the ground. Disgusting and they kill other wildlife/birds. I'll never be back. read more

Nice little park on the Gulf at the end of Green Key Road in New Port Richey. There is a smallish beach area, boardwalk trail and an information kiosk. It's a nice place for a picnic. The water is pretty shallow and gets a bit warm and mucky in the summer. This is a nice spot for an escape. Parking is $2. read more

Great little beach if you want to watch a sunset or enjoy the nature coast. Shelters, playground and bathroom for guests. Small parking lot. When not over run by obnoxious tourists or loud jet skiis and speed boats it is a refreshing get a way. Bring a drink or picnic but clean up after yourself when you leave please. Fishermen, clean up your fishing line before you leave. Many times we find dead or injured birds and wildlife from your carelessness. read more

I loved this little park. It was quiet and not crowded at all. The seagulls made more noise than anything else. People did not crowd one another as often happens at other beaches. The bathrooms were clean and stocked. It was a wonderful, relaxing day. read more
