We were looking for a good Chinese spot and unfortunately, this didn't do it for us. We ordered the sesame chicken and the almond chicken. It wasn't great. The almond chicken was tough and hard. I get Togo orders from here quite often. They are always ready when I get there, always correct and the employees are always very pleasant. I've been coming here for twenty years so it's nostalgic for me but the food is quite tasty and comforting. I get the mandarin chicken sauce on the side with fried rice. I love water chestnuts so I ask for triple amount for the additional charge of $2 and they always load em in there! They have a chili oil you can ask for, which I do when I order their vegetable spring rolls. The spring rolls are always fried to order and are fresh, piping hot and so very yummy! This is our favorite local Asian fusion place! It's nice to have a choice between Chinese and Thai food - both are excellent. They are very accommodating for vegetarians and will substitute tofu for almost any dish. We really love the Mongolian fish and egg foo yung. Dropped by Hong Kong yesterday after seeing some of the nasty reviews left about their food and service. I had to see for myself. What did I experience? Nothing but exceptional service and good food! Firstly the staff were great! Each and every single one of them were attentive, considerate, and so kind. They made sure we had everything we needed and wanted. Asked questions and made confirmations when we were ordering. So when we received our orders we knew what to expect and got everything we asked for. Not only that, because we ordered multiple lunch specials, each coming with soup, I told the waiter it was okay to omit two since we already had three for two people. Without us even mentioning anything else he later brought out a couple crab ragoons to replace the soups I said was okay to omit! Loved that! Now for the hot tea I had to admit I was a little disappointed because I was expecting a traditional jasmine tea. Instead it was a hot black tea. Which I can't say I was surprised since we are in the south and the patrons love it. The kettle, the tea was in, kept the tea HOT our whole visit. The food was delicious especially considering the price. Chinese lunch specials were about $7 coming with a cabbage eggroll, choice of soup, and plain fried rice. The Thai lunch specials $7-8 came with white rice (unless a noodle dish) and choice of soup. We ordered 5 lunch specials! Chicken Pad Thai, came with soup, always been good here considering the location and did not disappoint. My husband kept repeating how he had forgotten that how good it was. Leftovers did not get hard or turn to mush. Spice actually seem to level up as it sat and we finished it for dinner. House panang curry, came with white rice and soup. Was surprisingly good. Not too thick or too sweet which is one reason why I don't prefer curries when eating at Thai restaurants. Perfect balance of sour. Very minimal spice in my opinion but can probably ask if you'd like it extra spicy. My husband finished this dish. Thai Mango chicken, came with white rice and soup. This was the only dish I wasn't sure what to expect when looking at the menu. But it was probably my favorite. The chicken strip batter made them so crispy. They didn't get soggy sitting in the sauce. The sauce wasn't too sweet and vegetables still had their crunch which made the dish imo. There were actual slices of fresh mango in the mix! I think the execution of this dish is what made me like it the most. Almond fried chicken, came with cabbage eggroll, plain fried rice, and soup. Made perfectly crispy and juicy. Gravy was yummy. Almond topping was a little too much. Maybe almond slices instead of slivers would help with a better presentation and better on the palate. Last plate we ordered was the Hunan beef. That came with an eggroll, plain fried rice, and soup. Nothing really original about the dish. Wasn't spicy as expected. Though the vegetables were all fresh and not frozen. Not overcooked which I can't explain enough how much I appreciate. Beef was tender, obviously marinated. The prep work that goes into this dish. Can we just appreciate that? Soups we got with our specials were the hot and sour (sooo good with a little kick) and wonton (hubby's favorite). They also came with fried wonton crackers and sweet and sour sauce. Overall we enjoyed our experience, as we have before, and I can only assume a bad experience if you go in with a bad attitude. We will be back! read more

Came here an hour before closing with no other customers in the restaurant, staff was incredibly kind, patient and food was spectacular. I've never been to Winder and only found myself here looking for something to eat in the middle of a long drive. Was a little skeptical just from never being in this part of Georgia before and also being so used to the Atlanta food scene. Overall my expectations were beyond exceeded, not just by the beautiful mosaics on the ceiling, but by the food; the house fried rice and noodles were seasoned to perfection, definitely a hidden gem. read more

I've been eating here since 1998. It was phenomenal for so many years. Unfortunately, the old owners left a few years ago and the new ownership has slowly but steadily stripped the quality and flavor out of their food. Unfortunately, tonight's meal hammered in the last proverbial nail in the coffin - our egg rolls were literally frozen, and my chow mein was completely devoid of any seasoning. Their once magnificent sizzling rice soup is now little more than hot water with some frozen peas and carrots floating in it. So very sad. I hope the original owners haven't had to see what has become of the once the successful, great business they built. One thing - they still make the best hot & sour soup around. Literally the only reason to come here, until they manage to screw that up. It's frigging sad. read more

Our regular order every where else...$30. at Hong Kong in winder next to Publix.. $55.69 and it was awful. We threw it out. We Ordered Pepper Steak extra beef...? Not. Got a ton of peppers. Thick n not cooked. Ordered roast pork fried rice. Got brown rice. Nothing was in it. Ordered seaeame chicken.. it's so thin and like rubber. Won ton soup.. water and just noodles.we ordered Roast pork Lo mein. They Over cooked the noodles.. they were mush.. and looked like chicken not roast pork. It was the first time we ever went there. We will never go there again. The food is horrible. I was so pissed that we just threw it away. I rather never go there again then get an apology. read more

Not sure if my arriving at 12:10pm for lunch had anything to do with it, but I was seated in 1 minute, ordered the next minute, and received my food in 10 minutes. They even made my house lo mein spicy when I asked for spicy. Hong Kong understands the 1 hour lunch time rush and I truly appreciate them for that. Service was on point. I felt bad for refusing a water refill twice because even though I didn't drink that much water, the server was so attentive to the fullness of my cup. The lunch portion was a great size; not too small to where you're hungry but not so much that you're overstuffed and have to take home the leftovers. The crunchy wonton strips were really good; they didn't taste stale like some that I've had at other Chinese restaurants so they made my egg drop soup taste even better. I don't normally like to eat Chinese eggrolls (I prefer Hmong eggrolls) but the one that came with the lunch menu was so hot and fresh that I *almost* finished it. Location is convenient and there is plenty of parking space. There is also plenty of seating but don't bring too many people with you either. I would definitely recommend Hong Kong to anyone in the area who is hankering for some Chinese food. read more

Our favorite Chinese place in Barrow County. It's a little hole in the wall -- reminds me of the Chinese restaurants i grew up visiting in the 90s -- but the food is great and the people are so friendly and provide wonderful and attentive service. Hot and sour soup is always perfect and I love that it has bits of cooked pork in it. My usual dishes are either the mandarin chicken or general tso's beef. read more

So my husband isn't the biggest fan of a lot of Chinese restaurants in the Barrow County area. But this place is his fav. To be completely honest, the customer service is amazing! The lady there runs it for her elderly parents and she remembers people so well! Her staff is just as friendly as she is! But let's get down to the FOOD... it's the bomb!
