    Hunan beef lunch special
    Angelica Y.

Dropped by Hong Kong yesterday after seeing some of the nasty reviews left about their food and service. I had to see for myself. What did I experience? Nothing but exceptional service and good food! Firstly the staff were great! Each and every single one of them were attentive, considerate, and so kind. They made sure we had everything we needed and wanted. Asked questions and made confirmations when we were ordering. So when we received our orders we knew what to expect and got everything we asked for. Not only that, because we ordered multiple lunch specials, each coming with soup, I told the waiter it was okay to omit two since we already had three for two people. Without us even mentioning anything else he later brought out a couple crab ragoons to replace the soups I said was okay to omit! Loved that! Now for the hot tea I had to admit I was a little disappointed because I was expecting a traditional jasmine tea. Instead it was a hot black tea. Which I can't say I was surprised since we are in the south and the patrons love it. The kettle, the tea was in, kept the tea HOT our whole visit. The food was delicious especially considering the price. Chinese lunch specials were about $7 coming with a cabbage eggroll, choice of soup, and plain fried rice. The Thai lunch specials $7-8 came with white rice (unless a noodle dish) and choice of soup. We ordered 5 lunch specials! Chicken Pad Thai, came with soup, always been good here considering the location and did not disappoint. My husband kept repeating how he had forgotten that how good it was. Leftovers did not get hard or turn to mush. Spice actually seem to level up as it sat and we finished it for dinner. House panang curry, came with white rice and soup. Was surprisingly good. Not too thick or too sweet which is one reason why I don't prefer curries when eating at Thai restaurants. Perfect balance of sour. Very minimal spice in my opinion but can probably ask if you'd like it extra spicy. My husband finished this dish. Thai Mango chicken, came with white rice and soup. This was the only dish I wasn't sure what to expect when looking at the menu. But it was probably my favorite. The chicken strip batter made them so crispy. They didn't get soggy sitting in the sauce. The sauce wasn't too sweet and vegetables still had their crunch which made the dish imo. There were actual slices of fresh mango in the mix! I think the execution of this dish is what made me like it the most. Almond fried chicken, came with cabbage eggroll, plain fried rice, and soup. Made perfectly crispy and juicy. Gravy was yummy. Almond topping was a little too much. Maybe almond slices instead of slivers would help with a better presentation and better on the palate. Last plate we ordered was the Hunan beef. That came with an eggroll, plain fried rice, and soup. Nothing really original about the dish. Wasn't spicy as expected. Though the vegetables were all fresh and not frozen. Not overcooked which I can't explain enough how much I appreciate. Beef was tender, obviously marinated. The prep work that goes into this dish. Can we just appreciate that? Soups we got with our specials were the hot and sour (sooo good with a little kick) and wonton (hubby's favorite). They also came with fried wonton crackers and sweet and sour sauce. Overall we enjoyed our experience, as we have before, and I can only assume a bad experience if you go in with a bad attitude. We will be back!

What can I say...OUTSTANDING! Came for lunch: Panang Curry! The Hot/Sour Soup was the best I've ever had...so good that my friend ordered a separate bowl after finishing his first with his meal.

I'd give a 0 stars if I could. The food was ..is absolutely disgusting. We ordered combo dinners. They don't do them. Our regular order every where else...$30. at Hong Kong in winder next to Publix.. $55.69 and it was awful. We threw it out. We Ordered Pepper Steak extra beef...? Not. Got a ton of peppers. Thick n not cooked. Ordered roast pork fried rice. Got brown rice. Nothing was in it. Ordered seaeame chicken.. it's so thin and like rubber. Won ton soup.. water and just noodles.we ordered Roast pork Lo mein. They Over cooked the noodles.. they were mush.. and looked like chicken not roast pork. It was the first time we ever went there. We will never go there again. The food is horrible. I was so pissed that we just threw it away. I rather never go there again then get an apology.

Pad Thai with tofu. Too dry and hardly any veggies. Disappointing

Very nice staff. Clean location. The crab ragoons were delicious however, our meals were just way too salty to finish the meal.

My partner and I decided to try Tani Thai 02.20.2026 and stopped by around 6:30PM for dinner…read more First off, the interior seemed clean and well-kept. The ambiance was dark and intimate, which I appreciated -- it gave the space a cozy, relaxed vibe that felt nice for a dinner date. The music was low and soft, which worked well since most of the tables were talking pretty loudly. It didn't feel chaotic or overstimulating, and we were still able to have a comfortable conversation. Service was decent -- we were seated quickly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Here's what we ordered: Tiger's Tears ($15) - 3/5 This was the dish I was most excited about. It's described as grilled beef with chili-lime seasoning, onions, scallions, and sweet peppers. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The beef was noticeably tough, chewy, and a bit sinewy rather than tender and juicy. The chili-lime sauce was very sharp and aggressively acidic -- overwhelmingly sour to the point where it masked the savory, char-grilled flavor of the meat. It was supposed to be spicy, but as an Asian who regularly eats and enjoys spicy food, there was barely any heat at all. The dish looked vibrant and colorful, but flavor-wise it felt unbalanced and slightly one-dimensional. Basil Fried Rice with Chicken ($18) - 2.5/5 The menu labeled this as spicy as well, but again, there was zero kick. Not even a subtle warmth. It tasted like very standard, plain fried rice -- mildly seasoned, slightly oily, and lacking depth. The fresh Thai basil aroma wasn't very pronounced, and the overall flavor felt muted and underwhelming. The chicken was okay texture-wise, but the dish as a whole didn't stand out or justify the price point. It needed more heat, more fragrance, and more boldness to feel like true Thai basil fried rice. Coconut Mushroom Soup with Chicken ($5.50) - 2/5 This one was disappointing. When it first arrived, it was comforting and creamy with a light coconut aroma. Initially, it tasted balanced and mildly savory. However, as it sat and I alternated between dishes, the flavor became increasingly sour and slightly off-putting. The chicken was extremely dry, stringy, and overcooked, which made it difficult to enjoy. The broth lacked the rich, silky depth I was hoping for and ended up tasting thin, overly acidic, and somewhat flat. Thai Teas ($5.50 each) - 3.5/5 Honestly, these saved the night. Sweet, creamy, and refreshing -- exactly what you expect from a good Thai tea. Smooth, well-balanced, and flavorful. Water - 0/5 I took one sip and didn't touch it again. It tasted like straight tap water with a faint cleaning solution scent. Thankfully, we had the Thai Teas to rely on. Overall, the experience was okay but not memorable. The atmosphere and ambiance were pleasant, but the food didn't quite deliver -- especially considering how Thai cuisine is typically bold, aromatic, spicy, and layered. For us, the dishes leaned either too sour or too bland, without much balance in between. Given the prices, we were expecting more depth and stronger flavors. Not a terrible experience, but not one we'd rush back for either.
