I went to their location on May street for an evaluation, x rays, cleaning, and the staff were very kind, patient, and they talked me through every step. i have really high dental anxiety and they made me feel safe. special thanks to my dental hygienist Sierra, Dr, Payne, Dr Rebecca and the person who did my x rays ( i can't remember his name but he was really nice!) i've never had a better dental experience than i have here and i will be coming back. I have been going to Hood River Dental for years and have always received great care. Nancy has been my Hygienist. She is through, gentle, and patient. She explains what she is doing and makes sure that I am comfortable. While my teeth were being cleaned, there was a big screen TV playing beautiful scenic areas which is a nice distraction. Dr. Gonzales is friendly, makes suggestions for care and offers options for procedures; both necessary ones as well as cosmetic. I am a cash customer so I get a discount for payment on the same day with my check. I highly recommend this dental office. When scheduling appt asked if they were an "in network" provider and was told yes. Gave them the insurance card a day ahead of appt. After the appt found out from our insurance that they are not and we had to pay more out of pocket. When calling back, they insist they are and refuse to listen to what my ins informed me. The woman I talked to acted like a "know it all", wouldn't listen, talked over me and acted like I didn't understand how it works. Apparently she hasn't called and verified with insurance because she "knows how everything works". Will never set foot in there again. They need to get some experienced staff because the ones currently there are incompetence at its best! read more

Went in for a third attempt to have a crown done after the first two attempts failed. Office staff informed me that the original dentist, Dr Gonzalez, wasn't actually available even though I waited an extra week for the appointment to accommodate his schedule. Good news, though, there was going to be no charge for the x-rays and office visit this time. More good news, the dentist who was standing in for him could do the procedure. More good news, the dentist replacing him didn't need to do an exam. He looked at the x-rays from the next room and gave the green light for the replacement crown. "So, since doesn't have to meet with you, you'll save some money!" the assistant explained, "Can't do it today. You're all scheduled for tomorrow. One, last thing. Just a quick signature." Another guy enters the room and hands me tablet with a 'treatment plan'. What's the treatment plan? Are you the dentist? "Uh, no, I'm from the front desk." The 'treatment plan' is an authorization to charge yet another $1300 for a porcelain crown. I already paid well over $1000 for the first one and another $250 for the second one (office fee). The twentysomethings explain that when the in-office produced ceramic crown fails to stay in place twice, the doctor usually switches to a different type. I ask them to have the dentist call me. He doesn't. On the day of the appointment the receptionist calls me. What's the trouble? I ask her to have the dentist himself call me. He doesn't. The office manager calls me instead. I ask again to speak with the dentist. He never calls. I don't know what the guiding values of this business practice is, but I'll never trust them with my teeth again. The icing on the cake was this was a crown that I didn't even want. Dr Gonzalez explained that even though I may not be able to see why it was necessary to do it, he could. Now I've got a stump where a perfectly good tooth was. Thank god I skipped his advice that he needed to switch out the only other crown I have, one that has performed without trouble for 40 years. read more

First, you don't want to work here.. It's super unorganized, it's dreadful to show up because of how you get treated on a daily basis and you really don't get recognized for the work you do. And when patients come in and they complain to you about the horrible communication or service they've received recently or in the past, it's really embarrassing.. and every time you try to fix it, it all ends up back to bad communication or bad service. plus, there is no manager so everyone runs around with their own options with how things should run in the office so as a new employee, someone will tell you to do things one way, and others will tell you to do it differently. Multiple people have left their position because of how they have been treated and how they can't stand seeing this happen to patients, or other co workers anymore. It's just not good. The Belmont office needs some help, a good manager and some enlightenment. When I left, I told them all of this and they just pretty much shrugged their shoulders and said thanks for your input. read more

I received cleaning, good, but was not told about periodontal disease that the person at front desk said I have. The dentist that came in to give exam said I needed to come in to see him again but, no appointment was set up nor was I told about approximate cost. Hearing that I needed to come back,I called and set up appointment. Went in on Friday and only one person in office that usually has three or more. No one came to window to help until dental assistant ran in from back room. Doctor was in a huge hurry and after his work he left office before I could ask question. Then I went to only person in office to pay and was told the coast which has gone up an incredible amount. I had a bill for the cleaning but the person, after much looking, could not figure out what my bill was. Total impression was that possibly, I am not sure at all, the place has been taken over by a privet equity. I have been going to this office for over 30 years and now all has changed It seems, this is an opinion, that all people in office are in an overwhelming hurry. Another opinion, seems the place is set up to make money, not to give the best to any patient. read more

All of the staff is incredible, caring, informative, and helpful except for one receptionist in particular. I've only talked to her twice, but she's been over the top condescending each time. I'm just going to go to a different dentist because I don't enjoy being patronized by staff before I'm about to spend a bunch of money at a business... During the first conversation I was simply trying to get very approximate ball park prices for general procedures for a cracked tooth, from simple fixes to the most extreme option (I don't have insurance so I need to plan and budget) and she was so unnecessarily rude. I figured she might just be having a bad day, but then there was a scheduling mishap and instead of simply working through it because mistakes happen, she laughed at me and told me she's not trying to argue with me when I wasn't even trying to argue about anything...? Out of the few interactions I've had with her, it genuinely feels like she's the one trying to start an argument out of any seemingly neutral conversation because she's really randomly combative. Super cringey that this lady is the first interaction customers have because everyone else truly is great, but it seems from other reviews "receptionist drama" is a bit of the thing here. read more

We have been with this office for a year now, and love it! They are so nice! Dr. Madden takes time to chat and to answer any questions. His attitude is professional, caring and conservative. Allie did my last cleaning and was so careful I barely knew she was working on me! Best of all was that when we had to replace a crown, it only took one day as they made it on site! Ask about their in-house insurance that saves us a ton! read more
