We've only had one appointment with them so far but they were amazing! So helpful, personable and…read moreunderstanding with my son's specific needs. He loved it and can't wait to go back.

I went to kid sense for occupational therapy (For anxiety disorder related learning problems and…read moresensory issues) between 2011-2012. I was 10 years old and in the 5th Grade, Annette Broddie was extremely ignorant to my needs and overstepped so many boundaries. This woman from the first day I stepped in the center commented on my weight. She put me on a Nintendo wii using the "wii fit" program, immediately she weighed me using the program and told me I was overweight and needed to work out. Mind you, I was there to learn self-soothing and sensory integration skills, as the weeks went by and I wasn't losing weight she asked me rude and inappropriate questions such as "You're just not losing the weight, so what is it that you're eating?" Being 10 I was humiliated and began crash dieting to please her, I remember once instance in which my aunt had brought me to my appointment; We live in Stevenson so we always tried to leave for hood river at least 10 minutes early. We had stoped at a coffee shop that day and my aunt had purchased me an Italian soda, I was still sipping on it when I entered the center and Annette immediately set her eyes on my drink and said "what is that?!" Quite aggressively, I told her what it was and she said "This is why you are unable to lose the weight, try getting a fruit smoothie next time." I was not there for weight issues which I doubt this woman is qualified to address seeing as she is not a nutritionist, and I was regularly seen by my physician who never said anything about my weight needing to be addressed. In between her rude jabs she would in some instances treat me with kindness so I became very confused and never asserted myself. The last straw in which my parents removed me was when she literally pricked my finger for blood without asking permission, it was supposedly for some kind of test to see how my skin reacted to my own blood? I'm not quite sure what her reasoning was but never the less very very out of line. I'm now expecting a child of my own and if therapy was needed wouldn't bring my son to this center if it was the last one on earth, do your research thoroughly mamas! Protect your babies, the crash dieting that I developed at the hands of this woman turned into an awful ugly battle with bulimia in my teenage years, children are highly influenced by the people you allow around them. To be clear I harbor no anger and hope that these issues were a one off but they need to be addressed, THIS WAS NOT OKAY.
