I travel around in an RV and use laundromats often. I needed to wash a large, heavy blanket and quilted bed cover and that means a large washing machine each. Hood Street Laundromat is in an older building with heavy duty commercial washers. I didn't count the washers but there were over 20 dryers and there was not one "out of order" sign on any of them. The floors, folding tables, and machines were clean. There is an attendant on duty (for assistance and laundry drop off). There's plenty of parking around the building and chairs inside and outside. Stick with the small washing machines as they are the more efficient machines. I would skip the largest machines as they are $7.00 a load and they are not efficient. The clothes came out of that machine very wet, requiring extra time in the dryer. The small washing machines are $2.50 a load, the medium size machines are $4.75. Dryers are .25 cents for 5 minutes. The manager/owner, with whom we had a disagreement, was contacted by telephone a couple of days after we went to the laundromat (by a Vietnamese friend of mine to see if the language barrier was the problem). My Vietnamese friend spoke in her native language to explain that my great-niece and I had put the required coins into the machine. However, it did not start the washer. When we asked for help, the Vietnamese owner explained that she did not hear the coins drop into the machine. This is the same protocol my niece and I have used for several years: I put the dirty clothes in the washing machines and Hannah comes behind me to put the soap and quarters in the machine. According to my friend's translation of their conversation, the owner has had difficulty with "homeless people" who come in to wash clothes and say they put in the money, but the machine did not work. It's too bad honest customers have to pay the price of losing their money when the owner can't "hear" the quarters after they are inserted. The owner refused to return our money or replace the coins we had already inserted. She said she knew the machine was not broken, basically calling my 20-something niece a liar, significantly upsetting my niece. I assured Hannah we would never step foot in this laundromat again, although it is convenient and clean. Be careful when you put your money into the slots. I don't recommend this laundromat at all. Old and dirty, very little English so not real friendly. Dryer took over an hour to dry at .25 for 5 minutes with smaller loads. Dryers never even felt hot. Washers are 20 minute washes for $3.75 for smaller ones. read more

I had been bringing my clothes there for wash and fold service four times due to my washing machine being inoperable. I opened a brand new $399 set of Tencel California King sheet set to be placed on my brand new tempurpedic bed I was delivered today. When I got home with my laundry they were ruined with bleach stains all over them. I am so upset!! I called the very sweet lady at the laundromat and she said she did not do it. When I asked her how it happened she said she did not know. I told her they were brand new. She said "I did not do it". I had never had any issues with any laundry with them until today. So I would warn anyone to not drop anything that you cannot live with bleach stains on there. I even sent photos and got no reply. read more

I would give zero stars if that was possible! The new owners are so cheap and rude, turn down the flame on the dryers so it takes forever to dry! I personally saw the lady who runs it go back there to do it! I took my stuff elsewhere. She watches like a hawk and didn't say thank you or anything, after i spent $20 in quarters. My absolute favorite place to do laundry at! Gayle always greets us with a smile, she does a wonderful job at creating a friendly and peaceful atmosphere. The washing machines are well maintained and you don't have to spend an arm and a leg on the dryers like you do at most places, they're fast and efficient. Some customer perks include: complimentary coffee, clean restroom, places to sit while you wait, magazines to read, WiFi, TV, AC, kids activity books in case you have to bring your little ones along, step stools to reach the soap trays at the top, napkins available for spills, wide carts to accommodate large laundry baskets and most important of all super friendly service, what more could you ask for?! This is not the closest laundromat to where I live, but it's definitely worth the drive!! :) read more

I haven't used a laundromat in years. We just moved from an apartment that had washers and dryers to a house that doesn't. So, I'll be using a laundromat until I can afford to buy my own. I saw the wonderful reviews by fellow Yelpers so I decided to drive here from League City. It was well worth the 15 minute drive! The owners were both helpful and friendly as soon as I walked in the door. They gave my daughter some paper and markers to keep her busy and helped me with the machines.
