Wonderful Wedding Reception at the GEM Center!…read more We hosted our daughter's wedding reception at the GEM Center in Ashley, IN, this past October (2025), and it was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish. We wanted to share our appreciation for this fantastic venue and its exceptional team. Exceptional Service & Ease of Planning The staff at the GEM Center was incredibly easy to work with. From our initial inquiry through the end of the event, they were eager to assist in any way possible to make the day special and significantly less stressful for us. Their accommodating nature was a highlight of our planning process. A Unique and Flexible Venue The space itself offers a unique experience unlike typical venues. We chose to rent both the main room and the archery area, which provided excellent flexibility for our guests. The layout, separated mostly by windows, allowed the DJ and dancing to happen on one side while guests could socialize and view the dancing on the other side without the music being overwhelming. They even went above and beyond by hooking up wireless speakers from the dance floor to the other room, ensuring great sound quality for everyone at a comfortable volume. The venue easily accommodated various setups as needed throughout the evening. Key Perk: Bring Your Own Catering One of the biggest advantages the GEM Center offers is the flexibility to bring in your own catering--a huge cost-saver and a great way to personalize your event exactly how you want it. Highly Recommended The people at the GEM Center are genuinely nice, professional, and accommodating. If you are looking for a flexible venue with a unique space and excellent service for a wedding or large event, we highly recommend them!

Let me start by saying that I was kind of put off immediately by the staff looking over my bow for…read moreanything they don't "approve" of and calling it wrong. That's an incorrect assumption. Do your homework before you have a bow worked on. Understand that one size doesn't fit all, and many different ways can be right. Know what you want done, and ask for exactly that..... otherwise they will change your set-up entirely and kindly explain to you how it was "all wrong". Some of us (like myself) worked as bow techs, and certified archery coaches with other shops, and understand that there isn't just "one way". The most off putting thing about my visit was the seemingly inexperienced "bow technician" working on bows. First off, when tuning a bow, you MUST tune the bow to the owner....not the shop technician. If he sets up and paper tunes your bow, chances are it will not be tuned for you. You must be in this process....at koteewii, this was not the case. He did it all, and provided the results to me. Epic fail. That's inexperience at best. He should absolutely know better. Everyone holds and shoots a bow differently. He cannot tune it unless YOU are shooting it....unless you plan on gifting him the bow when your done, cause it's set up for him now and not you. Having said that, he started to shim cams to correct a paper tear, and put an entirely different arrow in the bow. WTF . I shoot 5mm small diameter arrows approximately 28" total length in a 300 spine. He was convinced that my arrow was too stiff (even though my experience and most importantly the arrow manufacturer says otherwise) and he finds a 30" 6.5 mm standard diameter arrow in the bow and tunes it. What the hell?? He said "good news is it tunes good, bad news is you need new arrows" No I don't. I need a knowledgeable bow technician that will tune the bow to my arrows I actually shoot....just like other bow techs seem to have no problem doing. I don't understand why he couldn't just do what I was paying him to do. Did he think I was that stupid? I felt like I was treated as stupid, and that I wouldn't know any better that HE was shooting my bow, and using a completely different arrow to do it. I went home, found my shims, shimmed the cams over, and it tuned up perfectly with MY ARROW. You'll probably ask why I didn't do it to begin with? I was already in the area, wanted to visit the shop, and wanted to support them. I saw no problem with spending $50 today to help our archery community...I was wrong. I completely wasted $50 and had to go home and fix it properly. Some have had good experiences here, I know. I will not have another bow worked on or set up here ...it was trash bow work, and I'm not the first review saying that. The shop supports the archery community, so it deserves the single star I gave it, but they definitely need to invest heavily in their bow technicians....they are not good. Before you go here, learn about bows, learn about arrows, and understand thoroughly what works and what does not. Know what is safe, and what is not. Contact manufacturers if you have questions. Do not expect the bow technicians here to know....trust me they don't....and don't take my word for it, research what I've said here and ask any reputable archery professional if they would do what he did. They will say absolutely not....I guarantee it.

With all the great reviews Koteewi has had so far, we were really looking forward to our first…read morevisit. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed. When we arrived, we walked into the shop area and it took a few minutes to be greeted. No big deal, but after we were greeted, some other staff members began to arrive and the individual that greeted us began chatting with them. We stood there for a solid five minutes while they chatted, completely ignoring our presence. It was extremely awkward. In addition to this, not ONE of the staff members was wearing a mask even though there is a statewide mandate. I felt very uncomfortable interacting with them because of this. When we were given our rental bow and arrows, we were escorted outside to the range where we were given kind of a half-a**ed shooting lesson. Though I am pretty experienced with archery, I was there with individuals who were not. I wish that they would have taken a bit more time for the lesson as I feel like I spent 10 minutes afterwards demonstrating for others how to correctly hold the bow and shoot. Once we got past the beginning, the rest of our experience here was great! We had a fun time playing various games with the targets and pretending to 'hunt game' with the fake dinosaurs and other various animals. Overall, this archery range is great for the price if you aren't worried about catching Covid-19 from the staff and you watch a few tutorial videos before stopping by. Pro-Tip: Don't come in the winter like we did! The range is all outdoors so your hands may get a little numb in the winter months of the year. If you do come then, make sure to layer up and bring gloves so you can feel your fingers to shoot!
