Once on the island I also followed up. There was no response from them and they never contacted us for the charter. It's a shame too because we have gone with them several times before. We had an excellent week as far as weather goes, but disappointed that we didn't get to fish. Go with someone else so that you'll get to go. Called on a Friday hoping for a Saturday cruise and Captain was able to put it together! Short notice but wow (!) he pulled it off! We met at the marina, climbed on board and off we went. The weather was perfect, our 3 year old granddaughter took a shine to Captain Jeremy right away and even went "up top" to sit with him while he steered! Jeremy was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and he got us to where we needed to be for a fabulous sunset. My experience with Captain Charlie (CC) was highly unsatisfactory. The charter was scheduled for…read more8am-2pm and CC did not arrive until 8:20am. We did not leave the dock until 8:33am and I assumed CC would make up the time. Although we did catch 17 fish, CC stated it was time to return to shore at 12:47pm. When questioned he said the tour time would be expired by the time we got back. We returned to the dock at 1:15pm. During the fish cleaning, CC stated he would be taking two of the filet's we caught. Confused by the brazenness, I asked why he thought that was okay. He just replied, "The Captain's gotta eat too" and before anything else was said, the fish cleaner turned and handed him two of the biggest filet's we caught. He was given a handsome tip as is customary along with his deck hand and then CC informed me that I would need to pay for the fish cleaning. I told him I had gone fishing two days before and the captain paid his cleaning crew. Knowing this, I had given him a generous tip to cover it. CC then asked in an offensive tone if I expected him to pay for my fish. So, for $1300 he leaves late, returns early, takes a prime portion of the fish we caught, tacks on additional costs, and leaves the party feeling awkward and unappreciated. Their lack of transparency and poor service made the entire experience frustrating and disappointing. I strongly discourage booking with them.

He kept the boat moving to find the fish. If these current photos are any indication, he's still on his game. We've been fishing with a few other Captain since, and we compare them all to Charlie. With all the hurricane destruction, we're wondering how he and his family are faring. If you're reading this, Charlie, Sam and Jennifer from Colorado (we're in AR now) are thinking of you. We hope you are ok. We will be in Florida helping with the relief effort in a couple of weeks. If we're near, we will check up on you!

I have fished in the Apalachicola Bay and Saint George Island area for almost 30 years. For the…read morelast 5 years I have consistently called Capt. Chip Bailey at Peregrine Charters and I've always been happy. We've always caught fish and most trips Chip manages to find ways to "fill the box" with good fish(Speckled Trout, Redfish, White Trout). This last week, the 2nd week of March, we caught lots of Black Drum. The first day we limited out and the 2nd day which I went with my adult daughters, we caught a good number of Drum as well. Chip is a dedicated guide who knows and respects this complex estuary. He's great with kids and is a good teacher and can readily explain the biology of this environmental treasure. If you aren't a skilled fisherman, Chip will make sure your trip is a pleasant one. He'll also turn a day on the bay into a great learning experience as well.
