They also have a lot of gear you can purchase on site which is always very convenient. If you haven't fenced before this is a great place to start and you get a lot of real fencing bouts. Everyone is nervous in the intro class and built confidence over time so if that's holding you back I'd consider ignoring that. My only gripe is that the classes themselves are somewhat short for me. Warm up, gearing up, taking equipment off, etc can eat up time so I would have liked to see 1.5 hrs classes to amortize the necessary overhead.

You may run into someone you know from community and there's a nostalgia factor. This centralized gathering hub brings me back to camps and baggy pants and looney tunes shirts, breakdancing, Massive Monkey and free food. Every time I walk by the big hall by the entrance I am engulfed with memories of parties and food. I can smell the lumpia and pancit, barbacoa, Ezell's, Costco pizza, and home made ribs bought from Viet Wa and smoked. The ever lasting smell of Red Apple sides and Delite bakery empanadas and pastries further add to the memories. I remember randomly being invited to a Nigerian celebration and ate fufu balls, fish, and stews. Delicious! I appreciate the multigenerational care at Jefferson. It's a center where no one goes hungry, community looks after one another, and preschoolers to the ARC programs are supported. Yesler is a close second in Seattle for CC and Chinatown is third. Each has a special place in my heart and I appreciate everyone at Parks.

It's nice that the outside park is right there so you can switch gears depending on the weather. Sometimes the kids are rambunctious, that's no fault of Tot Gym but just an FYI.

The Pocock Rowing Center (PRC) is home to a number of rowing teams. (List here --…read morehttp://www.pocockrowingcenter.org/teams.html) The teams vary in their goal, from very competitive to recreational fitness. Learn-to-row as well as various levels of sculling/sweep classes are available. Each team hosted in Pocock use the common facilities (ergs, racing shells) with exception of a few teams that buy their own oars and boats. Each team manage their own coaching needs and hires its own coach and sets its own practice times. So the different teams are very independent of each other and each deals with Pocock Rowing Center individually. How the whole program works is that you first pay a due to the rowing center to become a PRC member. You are then an "Independent" who does not belong to one of the said teams. You can use "club boats" and oars that are owned by the rowing center. Then to join a team, you must qualify in terms of rowing experience, and pay another fee to the team on top of the membership fees paid to the Pocock Rowing Center. These team fees are determined by the team that you join and takes care of coaching, lights, other misc equipment, and launch usage. When I rowed for the Pocock Rowing Center Men, the total monthly fees out of my pocket was about $110, which is very much on par with other area clubs. Teams hosted by Pocock vary in their competitiveness and goals. The Masters Men team is very competitive, attends national and regional races, and has reputation of winning a lot of them.

They showed up to the venue early. They had 3 staff members on hand. They gave people wristbands when they arrived to make teams. We made sure the exec leaders were spread out on the teams. Part of the package included photos of each team and everyone together. Their MC was awesome. They ran the trivia game very well. Price was amazing. I would hire them again, no hesitation.

Communication from the league officials is extremely poor. After applying for a league as a free…read moreagent weeks ago at the start of registration, was emailed by Corissa two weeks before the league start date that they were in the process of assigning teams, no guarantees but we'd hear back from them "in the next few days" The league starts in less than two days and no follow up, no communication at all. On their website at this moment they are still offering people to sign up for the league saying it's open (see screenshot). These people have wasted my time. There are better, less expensive and more professionally run leagues out there to join. I suggest looking elsewhere.

Staff was nice and it looks like a lot of the place has been renovated. Luckily enough, it even had quite a few quiet places to work on my computer. Good free WiFi was a bonus. Ended up going back a couple times during the week. Some new equipment, free weights, game room. It's on campus of Seattle Central University. Looked like there were some group exercise classes you could sign up for as well.

Now it's been covered up and the room is just wasted space, when it could be used as additional weight room space, exercise area, etc. The racquet ball courts are decent. The upstairs recreation room is finally getting a renovation, hopefully it'll be better equipped after the upgrade. Their towel service is decent, that is until the washing machines break down and they have no towels for over a week, while the machine gets repaired. The men's locker room is poorly built, why have carpet in a locker room? Makes no sense from a cleanliness/cleaning standpoint! The day use lockers are way too small, there should be more bigger lockers for day use. So many of those small lockers go unused, it's better to just turn them into longer lockers. Maintenance here is useless. The doors to the toilets have been broken for months, the middle one is missing its latch, so you can't lock it. The door hinge on the last stall is completely hanging loose and will fall off any day now. It's been like this for months. Some of the shower heads in the shower area does not put out any hot water, it's COLD ass water! The sauna is decent and gets hot, but with the many old naked men in there, you'd probably think twice about going in there. The hours are very limited, especially on the weekends when it closes at 4pm, too early in my opinion. I've noticed they keep the gym open after hours for the b-ball leagues to play. So why not keep it open to the rest of the public, while you have it open for the leagues? It's not fair that it's closed to the public after 8pm. They do have a good selection of sports equipment to check out and the group exercise room upstairs is pretty spacious. The weight room is what you'd expect from a community college gym, it has your cardio machines, free weights, resistance machines and stretching area. A plus is the indoor running track on the second floor above the basketball courts. If you like to play basketball, pay attention to the open court times, as it seems like there's always volleyball and b-ball leagues playing in the evenings, which will take up at least 50% of the court space. This gym is pretty smart to offer community memberships and alumni discounts. So if you're not a current student, you can still purchase a membership. 90% of the staff here are SCC students getting their work-study requirements for school (way to go to save money on hiring actual employees SCC!, another way you guys are cutting costs!). Be mindful that some of them are international students, therefore their English/communication skills aren't that great, but they're generally nice and I've never had a problem with any of them. However, there is one particular employee that I can't stand = Darien. He is the black guy that literally lives in the MAC. He is the most annoying creep I've ever come across there. He will literally follow you around the gym from the weight room, locker room, everywhere! I've once caught him staring at me showering in the locker room, while he was trying to hide behind the curtain. He's repeatedly followed me into the sauna. He'll make excuses to be in the locker room, pretending like he's cleaning or sit in the toilet stall peeping through the open door slot, while he stares at you while you're changing and showering. This guy really needs to be fired or let go. It's to the point where I leave the gym whenever I see him, because he makes me that uncomfortable when he's around. What a creep!
