I also appreciate that the gym has a lounge area with wifi that's good enough to take a work meeting on if you need to, and I've taken meetings there so I can have enough time to get a workout in before/after a busy day.

Every instructor has been welcoming, highly competent, and teaches you something new. I was able to quit all my other physical activities and stay in pretty great shape just coming here, despite my terrible dietary habits. Even the virtual workouts the team put together during the worst months of the COVID shutdown kept me fit, and probably kept me sane as well. Gym culture is key in a martial arts gym and I can tell you that everyone here is helpful, friendly, and willing to challenge you in a way that is respectful and builds you up without ever being uncomfortable or risky. There can also be some variation depending on who you work with for partner drills, especially when the class is full, but having been both a total rookie and a veteran I can tell you there is always something to work on - technique, speed, power, adjusting for reach etc. The key is coming back, working with someone new, and continuing to improve. Instructors will make extra time for you when you are new. Be aware that this is a gym and there is definitely seasonality - early spring it can get full, early fall there tends to be a lot of new members, many of whom are new to Seattle (I assume recent grads). That said, the instructors do a good job adjusting the class depending on average skill level and space available.

I really like that the coaching is about more than just the workouts. It includes nutrition, strength training, cardio, and other healthy habits, all tailored to my specific lifestyle and goals. The programming is personalized, continually evolves as I improve, and has enough variety that I never get bored. It also takes away the mental load of figuring everything out myself, which is honestly one of my favorite parts. Somehow, Alec makes it easy to work hard without it feeling like a chore, and I genuinely look forward to my sessions every week! I started going to the gym (another gym) earlier this year but I didn't know what I was doing and would just go around the gym trying different machines. Then I switched to pro fit and saw results immediately. I saw more progress in one month with pro fit than the previous 3-4 months at the other gym! And I'm not even exaggerating. I love that they would put up a workout on the board for me each time I come in and would try to squeeze me in when I couldn't make my usual time. Everyone was really friendly and would greet me each time I went in, and I was pleasantly surprised that all the trainers learned my name. I worked mostly with Chris and he was amazing! I I remember I could not run for more than 2 miles comfortably right before joining pro fit, and three months after, I can comfortably run 6-7 miles and broke my personal record again and again without intentionally trying to improve my running stats. I'm training for a half marathon, and that to me three months ago was unimaginable. They also have a body scale that breaks down your muscle mass and fat mass by arms/legs/etc, which has been really helpful in tracking progress. I had the silver package for three months and they are not cheap. But I'm still very glad that I tried them out and imo it was a small price to pay to get into better shape and more importantly develop habits that will help me with my workouts in the future!! 100/10 would recommend - I wish I could give them more than 5 stars

The actual installation was done by two young men both of whom were professional and polite and arrived in a timely manner. The lead installer was very skilled and did some of the soldering on site with a good result. You will notice that I used the adjective "polite" twice because it seems these days it is something lacking in our interactions with other people. We are very happy with our planters and edging and would not hesitate to recommend Ace Iron Works.

It also has great private locker room with keys per locker for free now. The only minuses are that some residents don't clean up after themselves and some messes end up not being cleaned for awhile.

He's an owner and has a vested interest in making Escala seem better than it is and I'd be leery of the false impression. The gym does have new equipment and is on the amenity floor for the building. That said, comparing it to Olive 8 is silly. It's a luxury building with, wait for it, no pool. They have high HOA dues and no pool. There's some of those lap bathtubs which is great if you're a competitive swimmer but if you want to do water aerobics or go for a gentle swim, you're out of luck. The gym was put on the lowest floor possible. Given that everyone uses it, they could have put it higher to give it a great view, but that would have cost the developer money, so they didn't bother. The gym lacks any real heavy weights or things like kettles for dynamic exercises. You also have to look at the amenities of the whole building. The developer greedily tried to do create a club inside of the building from which residents would be excluded. The economy turned south and they had to bail on their poorly conceived plan. What you're left with is a mess that residents pay for. There's a massive dining hall that you pay for and nobody uses. It could have added so much more amenities to the building, but the developers didn't want to spend the money to really fix their plan. Incidentally, what the other review here fails to mention is that Olive 8 has a 65 foot lap pool and a big steam room. Escala has nothing like it and for the money you pay, you don't get great amenities.
