I was very excited to try this new restaurant and the menu was very enticing. The gimmick here is that there are no options for your main dish: you either like the duck with polenta for the day or you try another day. Luckily the weeks menu is posted in advance. There are snack options (which sometimes run out) and dessert options and I checked with my fellow diners to make sure we would all get along and then booked.
We arrived 5 min late to our reservation and then had to wait another five minutes for them to clear the table we had reserved. This was the first of many annoyances. After we sat down (the table was too high for the chairs) we were forced to drink out of what I truly consider to be ikea tupperware. Next slight was the snacks options, they "didn't feel comfortable serving the bread" that went along with the bone marrow so we were given the churros instead. They were all very tasty but the churros were not enough to compliment the bone marrow and the flavor profile was a little incompatible. What a dumb decisions, I think stale bread (my unconfirmed idea of the fault they found in the bread) would have been a better choice.
The real issue was that the main, a very tasty portion of duck breast over rice and lentils with fried polenta was about the size of an appetiser. If you took the actual snack appetizer for 2 and the size of the dessert we saw later on, you would have anticipated (as we did) for this main to be AT LEAST TWICE THE SIZE, if not 2.5. It's really unacceptable to charge that much for so little or if you are going to, make sure your other portions are comparable, OR offer side dishes that are healthier and filling.
The food was so delicious but not worth the disappointment of leaving a restaurant hungry. read more
