I also love the indoor track on the second level. One lap is equal to 0.21 miles so it makes it easy for me to get a mile or more in when I have downtime. There's also a place where you can do a 40 yard dash. You can also do wall climbing at the Finley Center. I'm not sure of the pricing, but my husband took our boys and they loved it. There are several different walls that can climbed. The facility is kept very clean and put together. My only complaint is the lines need to be redrawn in the parking lot. It's difficult to see the lines at night. Of course I'll be back--I have no choice. Lol!

Clearly, I had no idea what a gem of a wake park our new city has to offer. Nestled in the beautiful Oak Mountain State Park, just a few hundred yards from the Highway 119 entrance, Flipside has two cables, super welcoming staff, and an impressive set of features for a small operation tucked into a state park (FYI: they also rent SUPs, kayaks, and canoes for the more leisurely inclined). Out of our group, my brother has been to the most places, and said Flip Side exceeded the places he'd ridden in the Carolinas and compared favorably to cables he'd ridden in Florida. Obviously, this isn't a massive compound like Valdosta, but there's a nice variety of jumps, rails, etc. for the size. When we visited in late fall, the lake was a bit low, which made the rails a bit more challenging (but a challenge several in our group enjoyed). Do be sure to check the hours, as they are seasonal and weather-dependent.

It's well-lit and it has been easy to find parking. Today, I walked around the facility and it's nice. It reminds of the Parks & Recreation facility in Hoover. It's clean and seems well maintained. My daughter can enjoy the kiddie pool without me worrying. It only goes to about maybe 2ft and has a slide and mushroom spout she can run under. I observed at the 2nd pool it has a ramp so it is wheelchair accessible. The 3rd pool has a diving board and is much deeper. There is a concession stand where you can purchase all types of food and goodies. The lifeguards are very friendly. If you are a Homewood resident you can join for a small fee and have access to all the Homewood Parks and facilities.

Years ago, I brought my students here on a field trip. There are healthy eating classes and workout classes offered in the warmer months. Check their FB page or website for exact times and dates. One of the coolest parts of this park is watching the trains go by. It's not called Railroad Park for no reason, lol. Parking can be tricky when there's an event being held here. But that's no fault of the park itself. There's nothing like a peaceful walk in the park and this park is the perfect place to do just that. Come visit!
