I have been going in there for years the hefty owner is always rude overpriced and you do pay up front. It is very expensive and not quality work. I took my shoe to see if they could replace the rubber tap on the heel of my shoe. It had come off and the shoe was not damaged. The young man that received the shoe suggested that I replace bot rubber taps to be sure they were the same height. I agreed and when ny shoes were picked up, the leather on the heels were damaged. This one much more than the other. The manager was very rude and insisted that they were this way when I dropeed them off. Did not ask the young man that I left them with. Consumer beware! While I will never go there again, I was so disappointed with the manager. We have gone there for years. If an employee damaged a shoe, the manager should own it. You may thing you are dealing with a reputable business but if you drop anything off. Take a before picture if you care what happens to your items. I do not recommend this business because of their dishonesty. They could have given me my money back and told me that they made a mistake and I would have just thrown the shoes away. They were old shoes but not damaged at all. I really just needed 1 of the shoes fixed and I asked how much for that and he said "he doesn't have time for this" and that I'm only doing this because I'm trying to save money. Of course I'm trying to save money... I'm a college student. The price he gave me was ridiculous. I might as well just get a new pair of heels. I definitely do not recommend this place. I have a pair of Antonio Melina boots I gave about 160.00 for a couple years ago. Soon after buying them my heel started coming loose on one. I kept them tucked in my shoe box hoping one day I'd find someone to repair them. A coworker told me. Of this place so I took my very cute boots in. I think the price was good- he replace both heels, for $19.00! work is fantastic! You could never tell they were replaced! Service was fast too. I've used Hoover show repair several times for various projects. I had tassels on a pair of loafers replaced, I've had soles replaced, and most recently, I trusted them with repairing my overnight bag. I travel frequently and one of the leather handles came apart on my last trip. I brought my bag in on a Friday and it was ready by Wednesday afternoon. The owner not only sewed up my ripped handle, but he also reinforced each handle with new rivets and a leather patch on the inside of the bag to prevent future tears. The good: They did a good job on resoling my boots and within a reasonable time frame. The shop also stays open till 6pm which helps with convenience. The bad: When I picked my boots up I was helped by a different gentleman than when I dropped off. The guy that helped me on pickup I'll call Joe and the guy that helped me on drop off I'll call No-neck. I got to my truck and noticed that my insoles, which remain in my boots, were missing. I went back in and told Joe and he seemed happy to look for them. But then No-neck comes out and asks what I'm missing and I tell him. This is his immediate verbatim response: "What do you want us to do about it? You must have lost them. If they fell out here we aren't responsible. Go buy some more." No help. No apology. Nothing even remotely resembling customer service. He blamed it on me, told me it was my problem and shooed me away with a Merry Christmas. These weren't the most expensive insoles but they weren't the cheapest either. A sincere apology would have made me happy about having to spend another $20 on replacements. Meanwhile, Joe is searching the shop high and low and actually finds them. The lack of concern for my property got me so angry I called No-neck a jerk and left. I cannot stress enough the sincere disregard this guy had for me. I can completely see him accidentally damaging a pair of shoes and blaming it on the customer; that was the attitude he displayed. Never again. The young man that "greeted" me could not have made it more obvious that he didn't care if he had my business or not. I overlooked that. I had a classic pair of Johnson & Murphy wingtips re-soled. They looked great when I picked them up, and the gentleman working at that time was much nicer. I was happy. Fast forward 2 months. I wear these shoes two to three times a week, so they are worn a lot. But the heel is already pulling away from the shoe, exposing staples. The bottom part of the heel is also coming off. I've learned my lesson. For similar money, I will be sending my shoes to the original manufacturers for repair and refurbishment. read more

I have been in this shop several times. The owner has been at the front desk taking the orders each time. He is rude, he's gruff, and he's patronizing. Each time he has spoken to me as if he really didn't care if I continued to patronized his business.
