Now we have two, Gracie and Gretel, after losing our beloved Siamese Hansel yesterday. I still stand by what I said then and have grown to love this clinic even more. Dr. Peterson is our primary veterinarian. His level of care and concern for our cats are beyond reproach. We consider him and the whole staff to be part of our extended pet family. We recently worked with Dr. Doty and Dr. Peterson on Hansel, who was diagnosed with a heart murmur/heart disease as a kitten. That diagnosis was spot on, and Dr. Peterson let us know that our time with him could be limited. We had 5 great years with him. During recovery from a routine procedure this week, Hansel experienced heart failure and respiratory distress. Dr. Doty and the team proactively called the local emergency vet and worked hand in hand with them to transport him and care for him in an attempt to keep him as comfortable as possible until we had to make that dreaded decision we had to make eventually. A special thanks to Lisa, the hospital administrator, and one of the techs who created a makeshift oxygen crate and did the transport to Mission Specialty/Emergency. That was above and beyond and shows what they will do to save our pets. The follow-up and heartfelt sympathies were much appreciated. Thank you, Dr. Peterson, Dr. Doty, Lisa, and the team, for all you have done for us!

I have chosen to come back to Mission for two emergencies. I feel pretty safe bringing my babies here. It's very clean and organized, professional and courteous. don't feel like they're trying to squeeze money, just trying to provide necessary care with the right guidance. 1st experience here: One pet, I brought her to see internist to solve the mystery of her high liver values. He was very informative and was honest and didn't just throw random tests. But test in order of conclusion to help us save funds. 2nd experience here: my mom's kitten - I don't know how to feel about this. She passed from FIP. She was brought in at 6am as a lethargic kitten without an appetite and ended up declining rapidly after midnight. I would think that being at a vets office all day, there's enough time to come to a conclusion and treatment to save. - but apparently FIP is hard to reach diagnosis and her symptoms weren't obviously pointing to it until it was too late. But, I will say the vet on duty this night was incredible. I wish she was on the morning rotation- maybe she would have caught her symptoms sooner. But who knows. The vet was very kind, compassionate and patient. She helped us make an informed decision. All in all, I would still go back to mission vet. Any ER will be pricey but I assure you... there are ones FAR more expensive with less care. Ps. Do not go to VEG ER on 410. I regret it in my bones. My other baby Tobi would have lived if we did not go there. ...

We rushed over on a Saturday and I truly appreciate how quickly the tech's triaged him and did not dismiss his case even though he was presenting normal except for a fever and abdominal pain. I was worried that he was going to be dismissed since it had only been a few hours since he started to act strange but I know my dog so well and I know something was very wrong. The doctor let me know that they suspected pancreatitis but there was no ultrasonographer to confirm until Tuesday. He was started on meds to control pain, nausea, and try to get an appetite but he kept getting worse and they decided to have him stay overnight. Sunday they called that they were going to start on NG tube, antibiotics since he had fluid in his abdomen, and continue to monitor. They still said they needed the ultrasound for pancreatitis and I asked why not the blood test but they said they needed ultrasound which I still don't understand why it couldn't be the blood work. Monday they called and let me know he was in sepsis and the fluid had bacteria and he needed surgery but because of the holiday there was no surgeon available and I needed to transfer to blue pearl since they had someone on call. I rushed over and took him over there and I was so grateful that they had me switch because the care we received at blue pearl was phenomenal compared to here. I appreciate that the doctor started him on antibiotics early and was treating him the same way a confirmed case of pancreatitis would be treated because I feel that helped save his life. My main frustration is that they had no doctors in to help him because of the holiday from Saturday all the way to Tuesday. It was very frustrating to take a dog for emergency care to an emergency hospital and pay a ton of money to not have the doctors he needs available especially when quick care can make the difference of him living or not. I will be taking all my pets to blue pearl instead of here because of how amazing they were and that they had staff that could provide timely care.

Several veterinarian offices we called had no available, immediate appointments, and on recommendation from friends, our call secured a same day visit. This free standing clinic, off the corner of Babcock and Prue, offers parking aplenty. Registration is left, with "pet patient" waiting right of entry. There is a specific cat waiting area, with bench seating, and waist high walls providing a more comfortable separation from canine patients. A rather thoughtful accommodation. The clinic is spotless, quiet,... and frankly, absent the smell of four legged patients. The registration staff are professional, efficient, and pleasant throughout. The gestalt of the experience thus far is of a well organized, welcoming office suggesting commitment to very professional service. We were almost immediately ushered into an exam room, welcomed by an assistant, that entered Luna's chief complaint and history into the computer medical record, then took her to a back room for vital measurements. This lady, was clearly experienced in handling cats with tender care. Enter Doctor Haynes, absorbing our history, deftly yet gently examining our ailing kitty, reviewing the lab results, and outlining a course of therapy. To make a long story short, with the consultation of Doctor Lane, a 24 hour stay for hydration and antibiotics, our kitty was returned to well being. Whew!!! Our Luna has a newly discovered congenital kidney issue, and with the counsel of Doctors Haynes and Lane, we have charted a course that optimizes her chance for an excellent quality of life. Yelpers, I recount our experience for very good reason. I have been a practicing physician for 40 years. I understand that a satisfying medical encounter lies not just with well trained providers with stellar credentials, with terrific bedside manner, but also with their support staff, from clerical professionals, to well trained assistants. All in an environment that is reassuring, designed to minimize the anxiety that might accompany a medical encounter. These are aspects that we all appreciate as patients. But when the "rubber meets the road", we want to be assured that our doctors are well trained, and competent for any medical challenge that our furry family members might present. Let me finish by saying that these good doctors, Doctor Haynes and the medical director of the clinic, Doctor Lane, are graduates of Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine. This school of veterinary medicine is consistently among the top five in the nation for veterinary education. The quality implications of their credentials are self evident. We...Luna.. are now committed to their care. I hope this review is helpful for our Yelp community. Luna gives Babcock Hills....5 paws up!!!

They treated us with compassion and kept us informed of our pets status. The biggest reason we did not return to Mission Vet was because the prices were INSANE! Our cat had a broken femur in its hind leg. It was $900 to look at him, get an x-ray and pain meds. The quote for surgery to fix the leg was $8000, or nearly $3000 to amputate it. That was in addition to the $900 we already spent. We found Guilbeau Station Animal Hospital out of desperation. They were just as professional. They treated us and our pet with the same compassion as Mission did. The difference was that they fixed our cat's leg for one fourth of the cost. ONE FOURTH! X-ray at mission, $600. X-ray at Guilbeau Station Animal Hospital, $194. We also had to wait for 13 hours before we could pick up our cat that had been looked at and x-rayed. For the initial screening at the other vet, set appointment, arrived and the cat was seen within 30 minutes. They provided a fair and honest quote, set another appointment and returned. The cat is now recovering. Easy, simple, effortless. Literally, no comparison. Both places had certified DVM's (Doctors of Veterinary Medicine), both had compassionate/caring staff, both could help make our pet whole again. One made us wait for 13 hours; the other 30 minutes. One was going to erroneously charge us nearly $9000.00 to fix our cat's leg. The other treated us with dignity and fairness, they fostered trust. They did not take advantage of the situation. I will never return or recommend Mission Vet, EVER! I will be a life long patron to Guilbeau Station Animal Hospital because they were fair and honest.

The ladies welcomed us with a warm greeting and eye contact upon arrival...thanks. Confirm appointment after requested (other ladies did..noticed w/others that followed us)...poor customer service. 2. Staff should weigh-in animals, not patrons... unprofessional. Roseanne's customer service skills were a bit lacking on Wednesday, maybe it was the pre-Thanksgiving I have to work Blues...not sure, but follow-up a request (name) with a confirmation. It keeps everyone on the same page. Next. I do not think patrons (even if they don't mind) should do staff's job of intake procedure i.e. obtaining weight, operating office equipment. If nothing else, it's a possible liability issue. I'll sandwich this review with a great appreciation for the male technician (name escapes me) for his quick, courteous and thorough service given to our guy. I did not hear him yelp (pun intended) in the back and he returned with his tail wagging. I appreciate your office's overall kindness in the past and on Wednesday. I felt compelled to comment on my objection with the new weigh-in procedure and my brief encounter with Roseanne.

We were also given Apoquil for his "allergies". After a day or two our dog started vommitting blood & wasn't holding down his food. At 3 days I called back to ask to be seen right away because our dog was vomiting blood and was not eating. I explained that they had given us medication and I wasn't sure if he was having a reaction to it and we needed to see a vet The front desk stated that they were unable to see us right away . We ended up taking our dog to another facility who stated that the drug can irritate stomachs and that was probably the cause of the throwing up of blood & vomiting . When we told them what it was for and the concerns we had about his face they stated that we should probably eliminate chicken from his diet because that is a common allergy for Cane Corso's. Low & behold!! That was the cause. We wasted $100 on allergy meds instead of being given a week to trial at Alamo Ranch Hospital. Then when the conditions became worse, You did not see our dog right away. See the pets you prescribe medicines right away when something comes up that is alarming like blood & properly diagnose things!!! It literally was a CHICKEN ALLERGY! Im so angey that we spent so much $$$$$$ with concerns to not have them prooerly diagnosed & treated. It was not Dr Fritz that we saw. He normally saw our dogs. It was a different veterinarian. I got frustrated and pushed him out of the way - unfortunately, I have the most clumsy cat in the world and my pushed caused him to lose balance, he slipped off the counter and got his leg trapped in the oven handle, dislocating his hip on the way down. The cry he let out was the worst noise I've ever heard and I rushed him to the closest vet I knew of - Culebra Creek. I went in carrying my baby's car seat and my brother had the cat in one of those 18 gallon tubs (I had nothing else lol) I walked in absolutely hysterical, barely able to speak or breathe between my sobs. I felt so guilty. Both ladies behind the counter smiled gently and asked me what happened. All I could muster up was squeaking out "my....cat's....hip...." before one of them took the tub back to a room and the other handed me paperwork. They told me the doctor had just left for lunch, but they disappeared into the back room and came out a few minutes later saying the doctor decided to see my kitten before going to lunch. They likely heard me crying like a crazy person and apologizing over and over despite the kitten not being with me anymore. Once I calmed down and told the ladies at the front desk what happened, they both told me it's easy to feel guilty, but he's going to okay and he will forgive me quickly. The vet came out a bit later and told me they had to sedate him with some ketamine to get X-rays and nothing was broke. I kept asking what happened, but the vet would just repeatedly say "he's going to be okay". I'm sure he was trying to deescalate the situation and it worked. They asked us to come back in a few hours after my cat woke up from the procedure and was able to be monitored until he was ready to go home. When I went back to pick him up, they told me his leg was better, but he would be in paid for a few days and had extreme swelling around the hip joint so they gave me pain medicine and a steroid for him. They also were able to diagnose his eye which was goopy and looking pretty awful. The vet asked about it and I told them another vet I went to said it was noting to worry about it and gave me antibiotics for an "infection" . Culebra Creek told me it was an ear mite allergy and they provided him the first dose then told me to dose him each month. Now to the bill. I was terrified to know as they have a routine vet visit cost and an emergency vet visit. Here's everything that I expected to be charged for - Four X-rays - Ketamine sedation - Putting his hip back into place - Treatment for eye infection - Monitoring until he was conscious - Pain reliever for home - Steroids for home - 3 month supply of ear mite treatment My total bill was high, but MUCH lower than I expected - $500 for everything. I was floored as I expected to easily pay over a thousand for the emergency visit and everything else. 1000/10 recommend this vet for ALL your pet needs! They were empathetic, understanding, quick to respond, affordable, and most importantly were able to easily deescalated a hysterical post-partum mom that hurt her own cat and was devastated. I still feel guilty to this day about what happened, but I'm so glad Culebra Creek has the staff they do. (If anyone is curious, the vet never did confirm his leg was dislocated as it was visibly obvious - I'll spare you the details. I think they made the best decision by not reiterating the obvious to an emotionally unstable mom. I'm sure had I asked, they would have confirmed, but the empathetic looks I received when I said I caused the dislocation and the "accidents happen, he knows you love him and didn't mean to hurt him" was enough to confirm.)

I brought her in because I discovered a new mass on her back that had not been there previously. Since it was weekend, I couldnt take her to her regular vet, and being an anxious individual. I decided to take her to this clinic since it was open and able to take her. When she was brought back and examined, I was presented with three options: the first option presented was an aspiration biopsy. It was mentioned that the specimen could not be good enough or be contaminated and require more samples to be taken afterwards. The second option was an incision biopsy, but it was presented as painful and with the likelihood there would need to be another visit to fully remove. The last option was a full removal that day under anesthesia. With this information I thought a full removal was best. I left her there to get the procedure. It was hours before I even got the call that they were starting and not until late that night that they were done. I was told that I would probably hear back from the lab the following Thursday in regards to the results. The vet did not provide any further information about the mass or what he discovered during the operation. I was called on 5/26/26 with the lab results. It was a follicular harmatoma that is benign. In the moment I blanked because I was so relieved it was benign. The front desk people were kind and patient throughout all of my calls, and I thought that I was going to be able to move on from this point confidently. However, I have since discovered that that was not going to be the case for me and my dog. Yesterday, 06/12/26, the incision site was appearing yellow, with spots of scabbing, and stretch, stretching on the incision site (keep in mind. She had been prevented from biting or scratching as per instructed up until this point and had had her sutures removed two weeks prior). At the same time she began to show less interest in her food. With all this occurring, I took her to her primary vet. While she was there, I was called and told her gums were pale (a sign of oxygen deprivation) so they decided to draw blood (I consensted to whatever testing was needed) and it showed she was anemic. The vet questioned if she had always been anemic because, in his words, it would not be wise to perform the surgery in that condition. I Iwasn't sure about her results prior to the surgery so I called Town and Country to ask about her blood work. At this time it had not been shared to me, nor explained to me in any form. Only mentioned as "unremarkable" in her SOAP notes. After her chart was emailed to me, it showed anemia was present and detected prior to her surgery, and I was not informed about it. I was not sent her blood work beforehand, and it was not in the SOAP chart that had been given to me. I was also told by my normal vet, in kinder words, that the procedure was done quite poorly and it had led to an infection in her incision site. He was quite shocked to hear that she had had the stitches removed two weeks ago, because it looked like the site was stretched, and sewn up in a very poor manner. Overall, I am not only disappointed in my experience, but furious at the lack of information given to me and poor judgment made on the part of the surgeon when it came to tresting my pet. I feel as though I was not properly informed and the correct actions were not taken in the situation, costing me more money and potential harm to my dog at the hands of a veterinarian that very well could've been taking advantage of the fact that I was young, a new pet mom, and very clearly anxious to help my animal in any means.
