The Palms Pet Resort is Helotes is a wonderful facility. I have had the trainer Irma Bice board and train two of my rescues and I followed up with obedience classes with both of them. Irma is the absolute best trainer I have ever worked with and I wouldn't consider using anyone else. The facility is clean and the staff is caring and friendly.

We would never board our dogs anywhere else! They pay attention to every detail. Our yorkies were never apprehensive about being left and were their usual little selves when we would go to get them. They were always clean and happy. If they got sick during the stay we were called immediately and had them seen by Dr Krick at hill country next door. Then we would get follow up calls to let us know how they were doing. It's clean, there are several boarding options and the staff was very organized and caring. We used them for many years and have never had a bad experience.

I was very nervous about leaving my 6yr old Aussie somewhere new. I called The Palms Pet Resort and was immediately helped from a very friendly staff member which was a good sign for me. After researching a little more and reading some great reviews, I made the leap of faith and booked a weekend for my big baby Duke! Duke has separation anxiety and I used to board him with his Vet's office when they offered boarding, but he would always come home very anxious and shaken up. I know he was in good hands, but it still makes you a little sad. When leaving Duke, we walked into a VERY clean lobby at TPPR and for being a doggy daycare/ boarding, it was rather calming. Duke walked in confident and curious, but by no means freaking out like he normally does. The staff was quick to help check us in and inventory his personal belongings to help insure we would get them back when we pick him up. Another staff member came to the lobby to pick up Duke and he took off very happy which made me feel at ease. Pick up was great as well! We called to request a late check out as we ran late to come back home and they had all of his items ready to go when we got back along with a VERY clean and happy doggy ! Duke is our big baby and leaving him in good hands is a priority to us! Thank you so much John and the fellow Palms Pet Resort team for making Dukes stay a pleasant experience for dog and owner we will definitely be back!

Now we have two, Gracie and Gretel, after losing our beloved Siamese Hansel yesterday. I still stand by what I said then and have grown to love this clinic even more. Dr. Peterson is our primary veterinarian. His level of care and concern for our cats are beyond reproach. We consider him and the whole staff to be part of our extended pet family. We recently worked with Dr. Doty and Dr. Peterson on Hansel, who was diagnosed with a heart murmur/heart disease as a kitten. That diagnosis was spot on, and Dr. Peterson let us know that our time with him could be limited. We had 5 great years with him. During recovery from a routine procedure this week, Hansel experienced heart failure and respiratory distress. Dr. Doty and the team proactively called the local emergency vet and worked hand in hand with them to transport him and care for him in an attempt to keep him as comfortable as possible until we had to make that dreaded decision we had to make eventually. A special thanks to Lisa, the hospital administrator, and one of the techs who created a makeshift oxygen crate and did the transport to Mission Specialty/Emergency. That was above and beyond and shows what they will do to save our pets. The follow-up and heartfelt sympathies were much appreciated. Thank you, Dr. Peterson, Dr. Doty, Lisa, and the team, for all you have done for us!

Over 24 hours later no news. went by the practice today and they were not ready. Was told they had no tech to do it and they were not going to be done today. Then I called the manager and was told their policy is 24 to 48 hours and that filling sooner was a courtesy. I replied well I have never had that happen in the past 20 years. she responded it's always been the policy. plus they are short staffed. I have understand being short staffed. But it does not negate poor customer service and my feeling that since the practice was sold to corporation a couple years ago the quality of care had gone down and it's all about profit with no concern for the animals.

Yes I was her 3rd but final furever home which is probably why she had severe separation anxiety, timid toward men, and leash reactivity. I saw someone recommend them and then the owner Jessica replied as well and we started training a few weeks later. Prior to training I never would have thought I'd be able to take her around other dogs but now she's a gem. Jessica was able to teach me more about the different German Shepherd working lines which was a crucial part for me to understand why previous methods failed. Now my Sammi is more focused on we with walks, can be around other dogs with out reacting when she's on leash and behaves better at home. The best part is her spirit us not broken which I was worried about. She still runs around with her weird German Shepherd antics but now she listens. Currently we are still with them for our next training journey -- mobilty support/medical alert service dog training. I can't thank Tandem Canines enough for thier help and not just with training Sammi but me too. I highly recommend them to anyone that needs help with thier fur babies.

I understand there is limited staff, and I realize they have to turn their attention to other customers and tasks, but I would have liked to watch our dog more through the back windows before committing to leaving her there for the day. I'm guessing there were between 70 and 100 dogs in the play area, and most seemed well-adjusted and content. However, it seemed a bit much, and I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving our dog there. She loves playing but could not connect with any specific dog and was overwhelmed by the many dogs showing interest in her. We watched for at most 10 minutes, and the whole time, she was looking to hide, running from the other dogs with her tail between her legs. The staff was present, monitoring behavior and cleaning up, so the issue for me is the number of dogs, not the staff. I asked if there was a maximum number of dogs they allowed, and without a yes or no, I was told the number of kennels they had, which was over 250. The kennels can hold more than one dog at a time, so it's feasible that 300 dogs could be there if all the kennels were full. The kennels are in a climate-controlled warehouse-type area with individual chain-link "suites" and the regular areas. The difference is a little more square footage, and a webcam comes with the suite. I'd summarize this place as the big box store of doggy daycares where you'll get everything you need, but not necessarily the best experience for the pet. This review is based on my personal experience. I am not seeking a refund, to be made whole again, or for changes to be made. It is simply informative.
