Opened in Fall 2021, Elder Love is a little hole in the wall with super friendly staff, an awesome playlist, and (as it's street name would suggest) an eclectic mix of vintage and current brands. The assortment of clothes was small as of November 2021. But it was a nice mix of vintage designer and cool trendy styles, for both men and women. For such a small space, it also packs in a wonderful assortment of pictures and artwork, furniture, and dish-ware. It's location is also ideal for a multi-store trip. You can hit Elder Love, Collector's Corner, Goodwill, and the ACS Discovery Store in rapid succession since they are all 5 mins away or less from each other. Flash 50% sales in Mondays. Walked the 1/2 mike gardens and saw a movie about how diplomacy lives here. It's the Camp David of the west. It's lovely. One day I will go on a tour, but for now... the grounds are divine and the exhibit beautiful. A great place full of inspiration and many presidents have been here to do business and sign monumental legislation!! A retreat and a bird sanctuary. Oh my so breath taking. Closed in June re opens in September busiest months... Feb and March. Let's make this year a better year for ethics and peace and diplomacy. Visit here and you will learn!!!

Did not know about President Regan visiting their home and other politicians and dignitaries. The public garden is a photographer's dream and I was thrilled to try out my new camera. Saw the expansive property along with the exterior of their house, Chinese pavilion, totem pole, golf course, retreat house with pool and guest bungalows. There's a small art collection as you walk in with a stellar view of the mountains. I recommend catching the 20 minute movie which provide context to the experience. There is a cafe and gift shop. One of the popular items is olive oil which is made from the olives grown on the premise. Also notable is this is staff - all very helpful to me and my mother who walks with a cane but needed wheelchair assistance during this visit.

They boast themselves in promote volunteerism when in fact they reject any collaboration of non profit organizations I had contacted and had shown interest in helping. The money collected by this organization is not reported to its members. Furthermore most of the parties they promote are linked to businesses owned by their members thus consisting in a conflict of interest. The membership of $ 150.00 goes mostly to parties and they emphasize their efforts in participating of the El Paseo Fashion show, were they can display their lavish clothes and apparel and, of course drink more alcohol. They will exclude you from most of their own parties because they tend to put themselves in a pedestal of selfishness. The charitable contributions are not chosen by the members but only by a few whose interests are to make sure they can continue to promote parties where alcohol is consumed. I left this organization deeply concerned that they are actually running a wine club on the guise of "charity " and also promoting their own businesses utilizing the funds that should go to real causes.

We didn't expect that from a not-for-profit. Very nice. So five years later we are back and we booked the Rat Pack walking tour ($40/person) for a 2.5 hour tour. We met our excellent guide David in the Vista Las Palmas neighborhood. We go on many historic and architectural tours/walking tours at home and when we travel and this one was exceptional. David did a great job blending architecture, history and Hollywood glitz in his tour. He knew his stuff and he did it with great humor. The pictures also helped. He also did a good job of keeping us in the shade since it was zooming towards 90 degrees. We cannot recommend this tour enough especially if David is leading it. When we return I will look into other Historical Society tours and hope David is our guide!
