To be honest I think Desert Best Friend's Closet is one of my favorite non profits in the Coachella Valley. Everyone involved really cares about the community and helping their clients. Their Interview Attire Program enables clients to make a positive first impression at job interviews. They discovered that clients need more than professional attire to secure employment, so they created the Bridge to Employment Program to complement their Interview Attire Program. Learning that Bridge to Employment teaches clients how to conduct a successful job search and that the work doesn't stop there really made me feel invested in the organization. Two very friendly people greeted me at the store. The money goes to charity for a dress for success type program. It's not a very large store but it's very well organized with men's and women's clothing and some accessories. I found most brands to be of the Walmart / Target genre. My bestie and I stopped in on a weekday and they were pretty busy. Everything is extremely organized by size and somewhat by clothing type. They have a man's and woman's section which is also nice. A small shoe and accessories section too. The best part is that everything is five dollars! Yup, that's right, 5 bucks! We found so many cute pieces and only spent $80. The woman at the cashier was so friendly and complimentary to each item we chose. I would 100% recommend this place and whenever I am in the area I will be sure to stop in. read more

Sweet!!! I happened upon this cute little store as we were visiting the area. It's small but it packs a good punch (as compared to other area thrift stores). In the day I visited, the employee told me they were running overstock on dresses, and everything was $1. Um...yes, please. I found a great O'Neil swimsuit cover up. $1. A JLo animal print party dress. $1. A sassy black wrap dress. You guessed it. $1. A couple more and a shirt for hubs - $9. All the merchandise seemed high quality. The shop owner is so sweet and she greet everyone who came including those who left. Customer service is on point ! Everything from this shop is $5 and it is reasonable price especially for someone who has a low budget :) The store is like a boutique and offer limited selection of women and men clothing. I liked how everything is well organized into each section from dresses, coats, shirts, long sleeves, jewelry, and shoes. Although I didn't get anything from this store, will be coming back again to check if they have anything else next time :) 1 star marked off due to limited selection of clothing for junior. I honestly was not expecting much from this thrift shop, but was pleasantly surprised. When you walk in initially, first glance looks like mostly dated clothing that your grandparents wore. The store is not huge either. But you definitely need to look through those items. They have a large selection of dressy men's items as well! I've never found so many things I wanted. And EVERY SINGULAR ITEM is $5. And they have a buy 4 items, get one free. I didn't have enough room for everything I wanted, and unfortunately I won't be back down to Palm Desert for a while. I found the most AMAZING and high quality clothes! And the customer service was so great. The woman working at the counter was incredibly kind and helpful. She said the store even gets out of season clothing from some El Paseo shops with the tags still on them. If you like shopping at thrift stores, you NEED to check out Best Friend's Closet! The only things I'd change is if they had a bit more organization, as some of the clothing was difficult to see what or where they were (like maybe large legible labeling for each section?) read more
