I primarily use this location for donation drop off. Drop off days and time are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday between 11-4. In the occasion that I go inside I peruse the home goods section. The staff was nice, and there were plenty of things that caught my eye here. Some stuff was a little bit expensive, but that's alright.

If you're down for a hunting session, this is definitely the place. There is parking in the back but not much and it seems to be shared by another store. Upon opening the door, there was a lot to take in! Not much organization going on and there is a lot of stuff in the small space. Only go here if you're really ready to look carefully at things. Knocking down some stars because I saw the most beautiful mirror but it was priced at $65. High price for what I thought was a "thrift" store. Many electronics, glassware, kitchenware, and other little things like that. Maybe I'll come again another day for an updated review. read more

I absolutely loved this place! They had a wide selection... of well everything and were all decently priced if you went on the 25% off day. Definitely a bit of a dig to find things. However, if you're in need of cds, electronic, or just weird knick knacks look no further. Staff were super nice and even let me know you could use Apple Pay. Although, it's good to know that they have a $5 min on credits cards. And they have a rewards punch card if you go a lot. read more

There are a lot of thrift stores in our town. I love this shop for quite a few reasons; Unlike other thrift shops, 100% of the revenue from the Hope House Foundation Thrift Shop supports people with disabilities in our community. The staff is very kind and helpful. You get a savings card here and for every 15 dollars you spend, you get a stamp - whey you spend 150 you get a bonus 10.00 to spend in the store. Parking is very limited. I find nice items here. Prices are according to quality. I find low prices on high priced items. Their website has the sale dates on it and their facebook page has up to date info. It's a fun small shop to visit. read more

Dear guys and gals, I respect every Yelper's right to their own opinion but I also think that it is unfair to give a thrift store a bad review based on ONE visit on just inventory and price alone. I mean any halfway experienced thrifter knows that even the best second hand store is hit or miss depending on the season or the capricious whims of the donation gods and giving a thrift store a bad review because you weren't impressed the first or even second time you visited just isn't kosher. Granted yes, their prices are a scosche higher than some of the larger chain thrift stores like Goodwill or the Salvation Army but there is a reason for that...volume. Those places get inundated with a crazy number of donations so they literally don't have the kind of manpower to price these fairly - so everything gets priced the same without consideration for condition or anything else. HH, with their more modest donations, price their items closer to (but still way less than) fair market value so you are paying somewhere between Craigslist and Goodwill prices. If you like a piece but think it is too much wait a week, if someone else doesn't snatch it up they will slash the prices...but it is a risk you just have to take. Here is why I have given HH 5 stars: 1) The staff is awesome. Seriously, I have been there more than a few times now and the people who work there have always been really nice. The first time I went there i accidentally remarked to my husband that I thought the prices were a bit high in front of a staff member and instead of being verbally or nonverbally insulting, she very nicely explained their pricing system to me and showed me some other deals they had she thought I might like. 2) They are very social media savvy and will often post the coolest things they get in on their FB page. Seriously, follow their FB page because the best stuff goes FAST. 3) A lot of people don't know this but they have a newsletter that regularly features some very nice coupons (at the time of this review 20 and 30 percent off) and they also sometimes have Groupons for half off (12 for 25 when I last checked). 4) They are a charitable organization that does a lot of good and deserves a break. Can they compete with the big boys in terms of price? No, not really. But HH is a cool little store that exemplifies the Ghent thrift aesthetic AND has a lot of heart. I FOUND A KEURIG FOR $10.00 The cashier was not that pleasant, the other people working in here weren't that pleasant either. BUT, when you have good deals, I don't care if you're unpleasant or not, I'll be happy. Also, they had a ton of christmas trees that were really nice and the prices were reasonable. I didn't check out the clothes because I am a little picky when it comes to thrift store clothes. Their clothes selection was very limited. Anyway, I'd go back, especially if I can get another deal like that Keurig. Also, there may be a few customers on drugs in here--there was one guy who asked EVERYONE if they had seen his keys. He should have cut back on the crack--it was a little irritating. (The good news is that he had NO idea what a Keurig was, therefore, he didn't get to it before me.) read more

This is a great thirft store. When I moved to Norfolk, I thought I would look at Hope House just to see if they had at least dining chairs. Now most of my furniture is from there. On top of that, one of their workers will deliver furniture for only $20. Man, I love this place. read more

One of my favorite thrift shops in Norfolk! The selections may look small, but I found the highest yield of thrift store gems at Hope House. Lots of designer clothes that I did not expect to find like Zara and Juicy Couture. The well-organized layout helps too. Please take advantage of sales on certain days! I got lucky one time when they had $1 for shirts, $2 for dresses/pants deal. I bought a whole outfit for $8 that made me a happy shopper. read more

When I moved to Norfolk all those years ago, this was one of the places my new neighbors took me to furnish my just-out-of-school apartment. I think I got a cork board and some dishes for my oh-so-bare kitchen. I also got an awesome 100% wool Pendleton duffle coat (you know - hood, horn and leather fasteners. Legit.) for $20 and a classic coach purse for $10. Over the years, I've picked up baby gates and dog crates for my ever growing pack, and sweaters for ugly sweater Christmas parties. You won't find exactly what you want every time you go, but walk in with an open mind and you'll likely be pleasantly surprise. Clearly a spectrum of people support and donate to the Hope House Thrift Store, and I'd venture to say that an equally wide spectrum shops there. It's a great cause to support too. read more

Just ran in here today on a whim and I was reminded that I live this little shop. It's small but definitely mighty. There are so many Knick knacks and the prices are pretty decent. I picked up two clothing items and they have regular sales each day so everything was 25% off. Though I went in an hour before close, the staff was still so kind and upbeat. I'm not sure if they ran out of light bulbs though cause it was a bit dark, the windows let the sun in but as it's getting darker earlier it was a bit difficult to see everything clearly. Other than than no complaints, if you're looking for a good thrift to add to your list hope house is a great addition. Don't forget to make a donation in goods or funds to help them keep going. read more

Hope House Thrift Shop is located off of Monticello avenue in Norfolk. This is one of those places that you will feel good shopping at because it benefits the Hope House Foundation. They have clothing, furniture, computers, books, decorations for your home, as well as various other items. I actually have gotten a few things from Hope House Thrift Shop over the years (a coffee table, a bedside table). I have also donated clothing to the Hope House many times and whenever you donate they give you a coupon for a certain percentage off of your next shopping trip. The staff here is friendly and is even willing to work on you with pricing sometimes. There are certain days where they have specials on different items - ask the staff and they'll help you out with this as well. read more

I have been here several times before this date and it appears that this shop has changed a little bit. I would have said 5 or so years ago, the items were cheap, the shop was fairly disorganized, and the staff was friendly. Today, it appears a little more organized, the prices are much higher, and the staff was still friendly. They had a lot of furniture and not as much for clothes. What I have recently noticed is that thrift stores are starting to have 'boutique' areas where they pull out obvious items of value and price it much higher. Hope House did this with shoes. There were cowboy boots and Doc Martens that were about $20 and $10 respectively. I guess if you are looking for a gently used pair of shoes, this is still a decent price, but many cant get around the fact that they have been used. There is a small parking lot behind the building where I have never had an issue parking, but I could see it getting crowded. Overall, I would come back here mainly because it supports a good cause and they haven't gone completely crazy with the prices. read more

I work a few miles down the street and I love to drive over during my lunch break. Not only do I get a nice mental break, but i get a chance to peruse their great variety of nick knacks. Every time I visit, I never leave empty handed. I've found really great name brand blazers and skirts for $3 and suits for $6! I mostly buy their household items as they have the cutest variety of items like antique tea-sets and mirrors.They are also my go-to place for glassware since wine glasses do not have a long life-span in my home. I definitely recommend checking this little gem out and they also donate all of their proceeds to their charity foundation. Another note, please make sure you have enough time to go through their merch as i spend at least an hour every time i go! The staff is also really sweet and helpful. read more

Although I agree with Alexandria that Hope House has a fairly good selection of furniture...that is ALL that this thrift store has. The two stars are for furniture and the none existent stars are for the non existent clothes. When I first walked in I was excited to explore b.c. I saw some good furniture and a good selection of books. However, when I got to the clothing section I was a bit shocked for a few reasons, including the prices. The back of the store where all the clothing is located is set up as if this was a little store boutique...organized and categorized with a few outfits already set out. This is great if there was a selection of some sort or if the prices weren't so high. As I dug through all the racks I didn't find a single thing that I liked (and that's pretty hard for me). On top of that I was shocked by the pricing...a few pieces caught my eye in the men's section and those few pieces were expensive. I mean EXPENSIVE. I'm not sure if this store has been around for a while and has a reputation so they think they can hike the prices up but personally I was offended as nothing was of good quality and the selection was poor. I didn't find a single thing here that I even thought of purchasing. I really don't think I'll be returning here unless I was tempted to furniture shop. read more

I have heard such good things about this shop and wanted to badly to be impressed but was actually really disappointed. The selection of everything was so small. The prices were all over the place ($2 for a set of 4 platter sized plates and then $2 also for a salt shaker sized jar?) and nothing was really organized very well. The clothing was sparse (especially children's clothes). I was looking forward to some mid century finds or anything interesting but it was honestly mostly junky nick nacks and cheap furniture. Maybe we went on an off day or something but I don't know how this store won Best of Hampton Roads. read more

This is a small little shop but has a decent amount of items for its size. Some are old an outdated but it is Thrift shop.
