Her room was so dirty, it looked as if no one ever really cleaned the floors under her bed, or anywhere in the room. They blamed it on her never wanting to leave the room. The staff was downright nasty one day when we were waiting to be buzzed in and my granddaughter tried to open the door (by accident - she's three) and the alarm went off and the attendee was extremely nasty and rude about us "grabbing the handle". When my mom first got there they did field trips, some painting/coloring activities and other things she enjoyed and would participate. After they had a change in personnel all I would see is the people just parked and watching tv. You can tell by their FB posts that they hardly do anything. Management is HORRIBLE about returning calls and honestly it seems like they do not care about the residents at all - just the money. So sad!!!

He has been very happy with The Palms, most especially with the way they are dealing with the Corona Virus Pandemic. The administration and the entire staff have been proactive and exceptional. They explain everything clearly to their elderly population. They reassure their residents regularly. Fears and worries are allayed in an ongoing manner. The staff checks on each resident and makes sure everyone is in good health daily with temperature checks and health questions. Instead of dining room service, there is room/apartment service three times a day to keep people safe. Social distancing is monitored while giving all residents freedom throughout the facility and as well as the grounds. Though residents cannot take The Palms bus at this time to see to their personal shopping needs, the amazing staff is doing the shopping for their vulnerable residents. There are no visitors allowed at the current time in order to keep people safe. I speak with my Dad several times daily and feel confident that he is safe. For example, a resident who had spilled ice cream all over the front of his shirt in the main room was left in that shirt for at least two hours. If they thought his family was coming to visit I'm sure they would have changed his shirt before they arrived. It is an uncaring place degrading place. My friend has tried many times to reach out to staff with no response. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I have to go out to replenish her cokes as it's her favorite drink. Long way to dining room she hates the food but promises for better. She said new owners coming, so hopefully things improve. She buys her own T paper and no help to clean her room. Pays top dollar. Facility does not supply her T paper, and other needs. They don't even order them for her. Ok this is now months later. Regular sign in and temperature on visit. Must wear mask. And be asymptomatic. Not much staff seen, was there with her 4 hours saw one nurse brought meds and left. She supplies her own toiletries, T paper and most the time her towels get washed by the place and clothes things don't return. Had to start ordering supplies like pull ups and the toiletries. Water and her some sodas or snacks. No ever helps her open or close drapes or cleans her room. No-one dusts or cleans she pays out of pocket. If I cant get to her room and she needs something taken to her then I usually have to deliver it with my walker. Long way as they charge her $5. This place is expensive. On skilled area so drab and dark. Only thing that looks brighter is the dinning room. But there has been morning no-one woke her up and helped her get ready and she missed breakfast. To get room service for your meal is a $5 charge. She still thinks the food is not much better. Only thing nice that day was they were giving out free ice cream to the residents and they gave me one . I also think that the nurse when bringing her meds should tell her what she was getting instead of heres your meds. And walking out. I asked if she was the nurse. She answered yes and left. She where a pull up and a shower maybe twice a week. She twice had her air conditioner flood the floor and she always has a cough. I noted mold on the wall once and she said they sprayed it and repainted that area. After her room carpet was wet twice with blower fans blowing the floor I would not be surprised there is not mold under that carpet. Once she had a rat run in and out of her room . They told me they would have maintenance take a look. She said they put a thing at the bottom of her door to close the gap. Don't know any more on that.

She already had friends there, the staff knew her and she felt comfortable with the move in. The care takers are patient and caring, they make her laugh and she tells me how "sweet" they are. She recently moved into the renovated cottage and the garden/courtyard is beautiful. She doesn't always want to participate in outings and gatherings, but I appreciate the staff firmly encouraging her or else she would enjoy just relaxing in her "apartment" coloring and listening to music.
