You must see their therapists for approx 8 weeks before you can see a doctor. Even when I explained I'd been under care of a psychiatrist previously in another state. Still needed to follow same process. My past experience was to have therapists that insurance never covered. The psychiatrist seemed like a pill pusher. He didn't pay attention very well n put you on scripts he wanted to. The average appt. was 5 minutes(this was thru a Union Hospital practice in north east md. Dr Zazow does not take insurance so you have to claim out of network which takes longer for reimbursement at lower rates but well worth it. He talks to you, listens to you and makes recommendations to you. He doesn't try to force you on meds that have failed before. You can tell he cares and understands the possible additional cost you are paying. I'm in my 60's n sure wish I'd found him 20 years ago or so. I highly recommend at a 7 out of 5 stars. The lady that runs the office is also awesome. He is sure worth a shot even if it cost a bit more. A totally satisfied customer for the past 6+ months. Dr Young has really helped me and supported me with both counseling and prescribing drugs for anxiety. I came to her several years ago after my previous psychiatrist of 15 years retired and had recommended her highly. She is warm and engaging. She listens! I emphasize this because I find it very healing and I have not had very much luck with counselors in the past who do a lot of talking rather than listening. She is insightful. She may see the bigger picture where I have overlooked aspects of myself that cause reactivity and anxiety. Her advice is gentle, thoughtful, professional, and spare. She is open minded, not rigid. I saw her in her Doylestown office for a few years before Covid, and then we switched to FaceTime calls. Since we had already established a relationship in person, I never felt the need to return to in-person visits., I highly recommend her. ps the address given might not be current but I believe she is still in Doylestown. pps there is a one star review here by a user named "Lela." Of course, everyone's viewpoint should be respected. I did notice, though, that Lela had posted dozens of reviews of a whole variety of area businesses, and most of them were bad (3 or lower). I've been going to Dr. Berkowitz for about 7 years. He is the best Physchiatrist I've ever been…read moretoo. I suffer from anxiety, depression, and ADD. He is very kind, understanding and truly cares about me. In 2015 I lost my oldest daughter to an overdose , then in 2017 I also lost my oldest son, same way. Dr. Berkowitz helped me to get through this, he told me I'll never get over it but I've mamanged to be able to live and enjoy my life with my 3 other children and 4 granddaughters. I was on the verge of sucide! Dr. Berkowitz truly showed me compassion and sympathy. He actually took the time to talk to me and to tell me that my other children and granddaughters deserved to have a Mother that wasn't crying and sad all the time because that hurt them and they were also suffering from the loss of their siblings. I had to be strong enough to keep my family together. They needed me. Also advised me to get to grief groups, which I do go to and it helps tremendously knowing that I'm not the only one in this terrible and painful position. I love him, he is an awesome and caring Dr. He actually took the time to talk to me, when other Dr.'s just write prescriptions and rush you out. I'm very upset because he is retiring, but I'm also happy for him.I pray that I can find another Dr. that can fill his shoes, I know that I will miss him trmendously! He told me although he is retiring I can call him anytime if I needed to talk, he gave me his personal cell phone number. God Bless Dr. Berkowitz and I hope he enjoys his retirement and gets to travel a lot more. He loves traveling with his wife and friends. No care at all still after countless hours on the phone to make initial appointments,…read moreeach was cancelled in advance without a reason, without notifying us, and without consulting us .It's totally reasonable to have a schedule change, things come up, but to cancel with no notification and then not offer a time to reschedule or explanation or specific referral and then be impossible to reach a human, transferred endlessly to the wrong department, having provide the same information over and over on the phone and via web forms is cruel and unprofessional. When Health insurances are not paying people professional wages then they don't provide professional service.
