What an amazing place in Desert Hot Springs. Its a 10 room boutique type hotel retreat. Our room happened to have a kitchenette but their is also a communal kitchen on site and a communal bbq. They have ice on site that is available for all guests bonuses. They also have a continental breakfast every morning. The rooms are very zen and each room had 2 robes for onsite use. There is an inside seating area that looks like it would bea nice place to meditate. Also the hot springs come through a water source that also fills the pool in the gazebo. Would definitely recommend visiting Hope Springs for some nice recharging. read more

Spent a couple of nighta under the stars in the hot springs and early mornings lounging by the pool or on my patio. Beds are comfortable and continental breakfast is solid ( boiled eggs, breads, pasrties and some healthy) The property also has water jug on site for some of that lovely mineral water...a real gem in DHS. I could not have been happier with my stay here. Hope Springs is truly an Oasis in the desert. There are no TVs, no music, no phone conversations allowed near the pool. THANK GOD. I frequently seek solace at resorts and poolside and my biggest issue is that there is no quiet. I finally found it here. They don't have a spa, but there is a massage room and Karina gave me one of the best massages of my life. I'm really hoping they put in a dry sauna. There is one pool and two jacuzzis, all filled with water from the local mineral springs. They have a communal kitchen and BBQ for you to cook your own food if you want. And they serve a wonderful continental breakfast. My room was spacious and simple. The bed was comfortable. There is a mini fridge. The only thing I would have liked is a second chair and a small table inside, as it was very windy during my visit and it would have been nice to sit inside. I will absolutely be coming back. The grounds and my room were immaculate. Todd was so sweet, and the fellow guests were so friendly. Everyone smiles at each other. One couple even told me about Desert X and some nearby art installations I could check out. What a lovely experience! read more

I'm mad at Google because I don't find this sooner. I spent my anniversary at the wonderful serene, relaxing, quiet adult only heaven.

One of my favorite places to go unwind. The mid-century architecture is charming, and the rooms are simple but very comfortable. The hot springs water is fabulous, and the three pools are different temperatures so you can always find what you need. Daily breakfast is quite complete, and there is a kitchen for guests, with refrigerator and gas grill so you can prepare your own meals (although the kitchen does not have an oven, just a stove top). The ambience is quiet, conversation is generally soft, with no kids or pets. Note that it feels quite different at different times of the year. Winter can be chilly and/or windy, although today (12/31) it is a calm 72 degrees. Summers get quite hot, so sunbathing and dipping in the large cooler pool is the thing. Each room has an outdoor table and two chairs, with one chair inside, plus a small fridge. The king size low platform beds are super comfortable. read more

I cannot recommend Hope Springs enough! If you are looking for an intimate serene getaway with the most dreamy ambiance, this is your spot. My husband and I enjoyed a pre Valentine's Day weekend here and it did not disappoint. My favorite feature of Hope Springs is that the pools are open 24/07. We had the best time stargazing at night. I booked our two night stay at Hope Springs, looking for a nice hotel close to Morongo Casino with reasonable rates. We got so much more. Relaxation, tranquility, simplicity. It has a great retro aesthetic. The owner was very outgoing and friendly. The continental breakfast was simple yet healthy and delicious. The other guests were friendly as well. My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights recently. We could not fault a thing. Our host was so welcoming and thoughtful, even packing a snack bag and water for each of us to take to Joshua Tree National Park one day. Breakfast was expansive and delicious and the coffee endless. We loved the quiet, the pools, the warm windy afternoons and the superb landscaping of plants. The staff were superb and so knowledgeable about the environment and plantings. What a relaxing little spot. We stayed 3 nights -- hiked in Joshua Tree & ate in Palm Springs. There was also Desert X going on, so a few exhibits near by. We enjoyed our visit and can't wait to return!! Definitely for people who want to unplug (although there is WiFi). There is a pool, warm tub, and hot tub with lounge chairs scattered about. The continental breakfast was so yummy & fresh. We stayed in a room that didn't include a kitchen, but you have access to a communal kitchen & a small fridge (which was perfect for us). Just a note that no spa jets after 10p are allowed & no music / cell phone use at the pool. It's a very calm vibe in the resort, so just be aware (seems like negative reviewers missed this). The rooms are also minimal (no TV) but were cute & cozy... and you have a great view from bed! There is also a limited amount of rooms, so it is very intimate. This place really is a gem. It's close enough to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree for easy excursions, but far enough away to enforce relaxation. You probably won't want to venture much into the immediate environs of the city of Desert Hot Springs (except for supply runs to Vons), but that won't matter as you're unlikely to want to leave Hope Springs. The hotel grounds are beautiful. From the moment you walk in the front door you'd be hard pressed not to be transported to a state of relaxation. It's minimal, but practical, and everything you'll need is there. It's very clean, very quiet. The color palette and aesthetic throughout is extremely calming. The landscaping and layout means that each of the rooms and patios feel very private, and there never seems to be more than one or two people using any of the three pools (hot, warm, cold) at the same time. You're pretty much guaranteed a pool to yourself at any given time. The dog (hector) and cat (carbon) are very charming and characterful. You'll see them around but they keep themselves to themselves. I've read some reviews that complain about the cement floors and white curtains. In my opinion the cement floors are nice because you can walk in from the pool, the floor dries quick and stays cool, and it makes a more seamless inside/outside transition. The curtains are great because they let in a lot of light, and contrary to what you might be worried about at first, they do provide complete privacy, even at night with your lights on. It's actually more private because you can leave them closed and walk around them during the day, and the room is still flooded with light. The manager, Nancy, is wonderful. She's down to earth without being "in your face". There is a slightly less formal style to the customer service which has a vibe somewhere between staying at a friend's/relative's home and a hotel. One day I was icing a foot injury by the pool (I'm a runner). Later on that afternoon Nancy mentioned that she had noticed, and she kindly provided me with a wrap around ice pack from her freezer. Best breakfasts I've probably had at any hotel. Again, like being at a relative's place. Delicious bread, fresh fruits, frittata, nuts, yoghurt, bagels, avocado. Yum. Went there the first time by accident because a place in Palm Springs was booked. Been back probably 6 times since. Will keep going back. Exceptional place. read more

Special thanks to " maybe the owner" I am sorry I forgot his name, for making an exception and let us stay for 1 night instead of the required 2. And that is because it was a Holiday weekend. THANKS ;-) This place is for relaxing and relaxing only. If you looking to party, go somewhere else. I made the mistake and used my cellphone by the pool, its not allowed ( didn't know). Well I got scolded by a very serious looking Nancy and I will never cross her again :-) The 2 Jacuzzis are great and the pool is big enough to do some "quiet" laps . Breakfast was lovely, cheese plate, tomatoes with herbs ( maybe basil) and hard boiled eggs, fruit. The fridge in the lobby kitchen has some breakfast goodies in it and what I appreciated a lot is that they had a few different options for non milk drinkers like almond and rice milk alternatives. Bread was great and fresh, there is a toaster there and there is options for jams, peanut butters, cinnamon butters etc. Love the architecture and the minimalistic feel. However we didn't have a night stand or a night lamp, but lucky us, we found a table in the room and we moved it and called it a night stand and used our flash light as a lamp.. BUT, i was able to peak into one of the bigger rooms with kitchen while it was cleaned and they did have some desk lamps on the floor next to the bed...maybe we get that room next time ? I was thinking to take my 5 staff members here for a company vacay and I approached Nancy with the idea, but she didn't like it in case we are noisy people, this is how serious they take the RELAXING ASPECT . I really loved this place! My fiancé and I enjoyed our stay. It's so well decorated! I love the minimalist look. I loved the 3 mineral pools. The extra hot one was my favorite. You can tell that the spot has been remodeled and I love that retro feel. There was a community kitchen that we didn't bother using but it was nice that it was available! The best part by far was the amazing continental breakfast! Plenty of fresh fruit, yummy breads, yogurt, orange juice, eggs etc. I've noticed that others have complained about Nancy's demeanor. I didn't have a problem with her at all. She was more than friendly and even recommended some great eating and hiking spots. This place is definitely a desert oasis and a great spot to get away from the bustle and ugliness of Los Angeles. My boo treated me to a weekend of relaxation at Hope Springs for my birthday. Best present, seriously. The resort is small with about 10 rooms. Because my birthday always graciously falls near Thanksgiving weekend, there were not many guests at the spa and I believe he got a bit of a discounted rate as well. The rooms are very simple and minimal and very mod. Soft platform beds with fluffy blankets and pillows, a stereo, a chair, and not much else. Some rooms have kitchenettes, however there is a small kitchen in the lobby which offers an assortment of hot teas and coffee. It is serenely quiet. There are three pools, fed directly from nearby hot mineral springs. My favorite was the larger enclosed hot tub. On our second morning there it rained and it was so peaceful to sit in the tub and listen to the raindrops falling on the roof above. The owner is very friendly and she prepares a wonderful and free breakfast every morning. During our stay we were treated to seasoned hard boiled eggs drizzled in olive oil, fresh grilled tomatoes, seasoned breakfast potatoes, fresh fruits and berries, toast, bagels, english muffins, and croissants. Definitely one of the freshest and healthiest free hotel breakfasts I have ever had. Guests are pretty laid-back and pretty much keep to themselves, so it's truly relaxing since you don't have to fear forced socialization in the pools. The outdoor pool area has great landscaping with an assortment of cacti and succulents and you can see the mountains in the distance when you're chilling in the pool. The only glitch in our stay was that the plumbing in our room freaked out on the last day and we weren't able to use the bathroom or shower in the room. However, the owner was very apologetic and tried very hard to fix the problem. When she couldn't, she immediately arranged for me to shower in the massage room and discounted the fee for our last day. My wife and I spent a couple of nights at Hope Springs last week and we loved it. There are about 10 rooms and the other guests we met were extremely nice. Most of the time we had the place, and the pools, to ourselves. Our room (#7), was terrific, very minimalist modern which we love. There were plenty of towels and 2 terrific robes which we used a lot coming and going from the pools. We both got terrific massages from Art which I highly recommend. Great breakfast in the morning. So, if you are into minimalist, I suppose this would be fine. The rooms are similar to a nice garage. Relatively clean yes, but if there wasn't a bed in the room you could just as well park your car in it and it would make perfect sense. Everything is sort of luke warm. The showers never really get cold(I never turned on the hot water...ever), the air conditioning never really gets cold(best to keep doors shut tight and shades drawn to create some sort of refuge from the 120* blazing dry heat) and even the common area refrigerator doesn't put a real chill on your bottled water. I wouldn't have such a negative feeling about my stay at this Motel if I hadn't been treated so rudely by Nancy. When I called to inquire about the massages she had no interest in explaining the various types of treatments and told me to look on the website. When I arrived, I was part of a group of women who had been there since the day before. They told me the male masseuse was exceptional and I should request him for my appointment that evening. When I asked Nancy, if I could have him for my massage, the answer was a short, abrupt and final "NO!". Uh, OK, really? The clincher was at the end of my stay, when I went to check out. I explained my bill should include 1/2 the rate for one night(I shared a room with a friend), a massage and dinner. Nancy, grumbled "uh huh" and proceeded to charge me for one full night. When I asked her to fix the bill, to reflect the accurate amount, she said "NO! figure it out with your friend...it's too much work for me to change the charge". I replied with, "I was very specific about what was to be charged to my CC, I would like you to change it." She responded, "I don't care, work it out with your friend". Here's my feeling, if you don't care about your guests, then you shouldn't be in the service industry. I won't be back. read more

Like literally, some cracked out dude with a Tee Shirt wrapped around his head, peddling like a mad man in the Mid Day heat was about the only other person on the road when I arrived. You will think you are lost. You will think you went the wrong direction and then you will find yourself in a little bit of heaven. No televisions in the room, but great Wifi. Three Mineral Water Pools that will leave your skin silky soft and induce some of the best sleep you've had in ages. The absolute hands down BEST continental breakfast I've ever had, it's a very special place. The Inn Keeper gives you the distinct impression she'd rather be knitting sweaters of Cat Hair than listening to you, or helping you with anything, but I get the feeling it's her, not you. Do yourself a favor and get a restful weekend here, it will do your spirit some good! read more

This is just a welcoming, comfortable place. The employees are warm, generous, patient, and very informal - you're their family/friends/neighbors/welcome guests, NOT clients of any type. (And I mean that in a good way!) The place is a bit old and worn, but comfortably so. (Just be aware that the Web site oversells the modernity.) The spacious lobby includes a firepit with cushions around it [although I wonder if it's used without fire all year round or if it gets cold enough in the winter?], and a small kitchen off to one side, which includes free ice cream, coffee, tea, and other things. The rooms are austere, but spacious and comfortable. The bathroom felt somewhat like a dorm bathroom to me for some reason - maybe just the somewhat industrial feel - but it's fine [and was significantly cleaner than a dorm bathroom, of course!]. The provided toiletries are excellent and plentiful. (I wish I could buy the soap they use here!) The center courtyard is a fun oasis in green, orange, and yellow, from the landscaping to the plentiful lounge chairs in vibrant '70s shades. On one end of courtyard is a large deck with more lounge chairs and rocking chairs, looking out on the mountains. And the pool and two hot tubs (one enclosed to increase the heat) are wonderfully varied from warm to hot. This was thoroughly enjoyable, and I hope to stay here again! Oh, one catch though - upon your arrival, focus on the address; don't be confused by the faded, classic motel sign that reads "CACTUS SPRINGS." (Or, alternatively, focus on the Cactus Springs sign and know that you'll see a Hope Springs sign taped to the window beside the front door when you walk up.) read more

Hope Springs is amazing. It's quiet, clean, comfortable and brings in a respectful and low maintenance clientele. I was tempted to not write a review for this place because I selfishly don't want others to find out about this place but the manager there, Nancy, was so kind to me that I want her to make money. After arriving, my friend and I went out to grab groceries. When we were fiddling with our bags, trying to unlock the front door, one of our plastic bags broke and a bottle of red wine crashed onto the sidewalk. I was slightly embarrassed and wanted to clean it up but Nancy came outside, insisted that we go inside and relax and she stayed behind to sweep up the glass and hose down the sidewalk. We went inside, unpacked our bags, took a nap and came back out to our patio to find a paper grocery bag with a new bottle of wine (the same wine we had just dropped). Nancy said to us the next day, "I guess that bottle of wine just put itself back together". It was really touching. I think positive energy is transferred and I left this place with a lot more positive energy than I had when I arrived. 5 stars! I would give Hope Springs 6 stars if I could. read more

I have been going to Hope Springs since 1999. Spanning owners and managers, it has remained, consistently impeccable. It is a place for healing, for connection, for quiet reflection. Hope Springs is on a whole different scale from your typical Palm Springs resort. The overall feeling is that of an old fashioned, but well preserved, open-air, desert resort -- a place out of time, reminiscent of old Palm Springs -- very quiet, very clean, well ordered (without feeling sterile), and very relaxing. There are only ten rooms, which are large, spacious and decorated in cozy minimalist modern, replete with Eames and Saarinen furniture. Each room consists of little else than a king bed, chair and CD player. You will not find any TVs, phones or screaming kids running around the pool area (it is strictly adults-only), just tranquil seclusion. Our stay consisted of reading, relaxing and soaking in the three hot spring-fed mineral pools which vary in temperature from more like that of a hot tub to that of a swimming pool. Close proximity to Palm Springs, and the Joshua Tree National Park, a truly magical place, is just 30 minutes away. But, I digress . . . Reasonably priced and very restful. The staff was friendly enough but this place is clearly on it's last legs. So sparse it feels as if you are checking into a modernist cellblock. The towels were dingy, stained. The bathmat was ragged on the edges and had a with hole worn in it. Cracking paint. Popcorn ceilings But there was an eames chair There is a reason they make you book two nights at a time. The room I stayed in offered almost no privacy. The sleeping area is curtained off by three inadequate curtains. Tranquil, calm, very clean. It is a simple, non-luxurious but relaxing stay. The cleaner is AWESOME. The rooms are basic and very sparse, but she cleaned with attention to detail (corners clean, shower stalls thoroughly cleaned, ample towel supply etc.). The caretaker, Nancy, might be in the wrong industry though. Or perhaps she could take a course in Customer Service? She's not a warm person. She shuffles about and complains. Her reception desk smells like cat litter and is very cluttered. Each room is provided with one teeny-tiny bottle of shampoo -- enough for a man's head but I have thick hair so would require 2 of their tiny samples each use. I decided to make-do and just do my scalp. But that left none for my partner. I asked Nancy for some more shampoo and she looked at me disappointingly and said, "you guys can't share one?" One sample for a couple who is staying for 3 days?? Um, for such an expensive room, I hate to feel like a beggar! She sighed and reluctantly returned with another tiny sample. My husband used it so I didn't get to wash my hair after all. Breakfast was good but SPARSE. I felt guilty taking one of the 4 bite-size cubes of pineapple laid out for the sold-out resort. And Nancy hovered over me while I made toast with the heel of the loaf (that was all that was left). We didn't get any berries or cut fruit (as I'd seen in other Yelp photos). There was no orange juice. They were out of milk. After we "ate breakfast", we went out in search for breakfast. The mineral hot tub was exquisite but it could have used some tea lights or torches outside. We didn't get to really try the main pool (nor did any of the other guests) because the water was far too cold. The resort could use some pool noodles etc to float on. They had 3 but they were all fried and dead. The resort gets a daily copy of the NYT which is nice. My favorite thing was waking up before sunrise and watching the night sky above with twinkling stars turn into daylight... all from the hot tub! :) For knockout food nearby, eat at the sushi spot in Desert Hot Springs. My review may be biased because I attended a yoga retreat here with a group of women from my yoga class in Monrovia. We rented out the entire space. Ten women. The only time we left the resort for three days was to go for walks around the hills and neighborhood surrounding the hotel. The rooms feel feng shui. Very simple. Concrete floors, a bed, some books on a shelf and some amazing bath products. My favorite though was the soft white cotton robe which I wore most of the time. Nancy cooked lunch and dinner for our group. The food was amazing! Huge tossed bowls of salad, fresh fish or tri-tip from the grill, and specialty items like oat crackers with a cheese spread. We literally fought over the left over crackers!! Our group brought snacks with us and a few deserts. Our yoga classes were held on a small veranda overlooking Palm Springs. It was amazing. No tv, no radio, and just quiet. I had a massage with a woman from Palm Springs and it was very good. The price was high as they always are at resorts. However it was a nice splurge for myself. Everyone in our group elected for the massage and extras and each woman was equally happy with their end results. The temperatures of the three pools of water are perfect. This is where we spent the majority of our time between exercising and relaxing. If you want a truly relaxing quiet experience this is your place. Especially for groups!!! I would love to do a family retreat here however children are not allowed. Makes sense - not so much peace and tranquility when little kids are running around. Haha! read more

The design of the place is chic retro, minimalist and just clean. Rooms are just the essential stuff you need, no phone, no Tv, No nonsense. Wi-fi is free! They provide soaps, shampoo, towels and robes. Make sure your bring your slippers because the room has concrete floors. I love it that at night you can freely get milk, oj, fresh juices in the common kitchen (as long as there is no name Lol) and just chilax by your patio. There are 3 pools, a jacuzzi, a regular temperature and a warmer pool. My favorite part is the breakfast. So healthy, and inspiring. They have yogurt, nuts, cheeses, eggs, fruits.. for the carnivorous people sorry no meat available. Stargazing was wonderful too! Somehow the sky were much brighter here! i love this place. Ive now been back three times...Nancy is so nice- the place is simple, elegant, easy. If your looking for room service and hotel bars this is NOT the place for you. Get a room with a kitchenette- bring your food and drinks and get ready to be so relaxed you might actually melt in the dessert sun!! LOVE hope springs. read more

I come here several times a year as a retreat and it's rejuvenating to be quiet and immerse yourself in the natural environment and healing waters. As you know, most places you go, once you've been, don't usually allow the same magic as the first time. I've been to Hope Springs four times, and each stay has been equally transformative in its own special way. If some of the theories are true, and stillness is the surest way of being one with the source, Hope Springs is one of those places that offered me a "glimpse" - if you will - every time. I'm sure there are many cool places in and around Palm Springs/Desert that have special qualities, I simply won't bring myself to try any other, as again, Hope Springs has never disappointed. My intention is not to come off egotistical, but I've had the luck of traveling the world and stayed in hotels regularly printed as the best in the world, but I would argue the Hope Springs experience will lift you as much or more than any other. We spent three weeks at the Motel in March-April 2011, and it was a great experience. On our first day, we were warmly welcomed by Chloe, the former manager. She left during our stay and was replaced by Cynthia, a great person and an amazing host. She grew up in the area and knows everything there is to know about the places and the people. We also met Evica, who tends to the rooms and to the motel's amazing cacti collection. We just had a glimpse of Andre, the new assistant manager, who seemed very nice. We enjoyed the mineral pools, although we found it hard to enter the hottest one during the day! However, it is perfect on windy days or cold nights. The hot water is especially enjoyable after a long day of hiking. The breakfast is excellent, with a lot of different fresh fruits and good-tasting products (granola, yogurt). The decoration of the rooms, harking back to mid-century modernism, creates a very relaxing mood, in tune with the surroundings. We spent most of our time hiking Joshua Tree National Park and the San Jacinto Mountains, which both are just about an hour-long drive away. We will definitely be back. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. WORST customer service ever!!!! Was stuck out in town trying to find a place to stay for the night with my husband. After calling dozens of places trying to find a place and being rejected due to full occupancy, I called Hope Springs. Hope my ass. A lady picked up the phone with the worst attitude, and after asking if there were any rooms available, retorted that it was way too late to be disturbing them and calling small hotels like theirs - then rudely hung up on me. Oh, I'm sorry your website online says you are open 24/7. After a long night, I did not appreciate being talked to that way. Don't work in customer service if all you're going to serve people is a nasty attitude!!!! read more
